Round 16 chat.

While I’ld like to blame the refs, the Dogs are a good team, and as with the Pies a few weeks ago, we simply got beaten by a better team.

Full points to the dogs.

But, what we care about is the SuperCoach scores, so let’s look at that.

Hahn did great for those who have him, outside of that though, Higgins, Lake, Stanton and Paddy did very well for themselves.

Nothing overly suprising from tonight, cept for Lucas putting in a SHOCKER!! :)

Anyways, let us know how you’re doing this weekend! He’s hoping that injuries treat you well!

Despite being a hawthorn man, i decided to go and see tonights game for no other reason than something to do. I was hoping with two great attacking sides that it might’ve been a really high scoring affair but that wasn’t the case. It’s always enjoyable, if not relaxing, going to the footy and not having a stake in the game.

While i thought the doggies were the better team overall on the night, i hear you Walesy regarding some of the umpiring decisions. From a neutral supporters point of view, i couldn’t believe a few of those free kicks that were paid in the dogs forward 50 to be perfectly honest, a bit hard done by i think. That said, congrats to the dogs, a well deserved win and you guys are looking great this season, keep it up! Bomber fans, don’t lose heart and help support the boys next week to get them back on the winners list.

  2. The Swert says:

Watson had a shocker, only 1 kick.

  3. knighty says:

And lets all cry about the Ashes as well :( Disgraceful effort, now Poms are winning in SC and cricket! Someone’s going to have to explain how their last wicket partnership can be greater than all but one of ours..

  4. spud says:

so true knight, so true :( ponting getting called out from that dubious umpiring decision was the beginning of the end it seems for our first innings

  5. Tim says:

If Ponting didn’t edge it it was LBW anyway, umpire just made the wrong decision, he was out regardless.

  6. spud says:

I smell a POM!!!! Get him boys!

  7. Tim says:

As Aussie as the next bloke, just calling it as I see it.

  8. spud says:

hehe yeah thats fair Tim. Its just hard to justify how someone can go from 150 to 2 in the space of a week. That’s his inconsistency for ya though i guess.

For those with jesse white as a stand-in for cox this week, he seems to have brought his vfl form the last two weeks to the carlton match today so good on him.

  9. Tim says:

Looks like the Rich to Pendlebury trade might have been abit premature

  10. spud says:

    CARN THE HAWKERZ!!!!!

  11. The Swert says:

1572/13 looking good except my opponent is 1842/15 after having O’Keefe as captain. How can you get 185 and your team still get flogged?

  12. Tim says:

I think O’Keefe has been getting the Ablett supercoach treatment by the chamion data fellas the last few months.

  13. Julian.. Dees says:

2012 through 18,,,, thats with pav and stevey on bench but with goodard, hmac, lidsd and gilberts 2 come

  14. mark78 says:

might be some big scores this week. 1582/13 – pretty similar to you Swert!
O’Keefe’s score has helped offset Didak’s quiet night. He’s been running pretty hot tho so i’ll give him a weeks repreive :)
Franklin is starting to look really good.. wonder how many will start to consider him a finals x-factor? his work rate sems to have really improved. Hodge is a star and with more time in the middle to come his scores are going to keep big I’d reckon.

  15. walesy says:

Definitely going to be a 2700+ high score this week I reckon! There’s some popular big scores out there! ROK – Wow!

Sadly, and there’s going to be an image on this one, I recomended the following captains to my missus this week.

    C – Didak.
    VC – ROK.

If I’m not around come Monday, you’ll know why… :)

  16. jo says:

And he’s got the bruised ribs to show for it. Gad damn it… It’s like he’s *trying* to make me get a low score…

  17. spud says:

we’ll put in some good words for ya at ur eulogy buddy *raises glass*

  18. simon says:

12/1465 with Montagna C still to come…thought I was going great till I read the above scores…well done lads.

Watching Matt Goggin at the British Open, tied for the lead thru 17 on 3rd day….some of the “younger” Aussie golfers should take a leaf out of his book – true battler.

  19. asanque says:

    Yay NicNat is in!

  20. asanque says:

Massive scores this week to some.

I went M.Brown to Chapman (rather then Riewoldt)
    and D.Cox to H.McIntosh (rather then M.Clark)
Also didn’t go for Rich –> Pendlebury

    Overall, reasonably happy thus far.

Only really bad performer for me thus far is Didak.

  21. Tim says:

How on earth does Swan get the same score as Hodge last night? Hodge was clearly BOG, Swan had zero influence on the game. Champion Data are full of shit at times.

  22. spud says:

Haha what a fitting result for the tigers vs roos match today. The product of two teams tanking, what else did people expect :D Good game by harvey for a change

  23. Frank says:

am 2140 with Goddard, Fish and Roo & a Cox donut to come. Currently sitting on 257th and was hoping to make some inroads into the top 200 but seems likes its gonna be a huge week for plenty out there.
was gonna trade Rich but Pendles but glad i didnt and Harding came thru with a huge last 1/4

  24. The Swert says:

Scored a personal best 2473 but went down by my mate who got 2651. Would’ve beaten anyone else in my league but came up against the wrong opposition.

  25. nick says:

2246, which isnt that great considering the other big scores about. god work to everyone who dominated. was missing steve jonhson. pendlebury was a poor inclusion. couldnt control my impulsive trading this week. let down by drummond and power and a few others. glad i could get the 4 points tho after a tough combination of league fixtures and injuries :D

  26. asanque says:

Took Mcintosh (117) rather then Clark (142)
Took Chapman (126) rather then Riewoldt (145)

I can only hope it pays off long-term!

  27. asanque says:

On a sidenote, I also scored 1809 for AFL Superstars, which is a personal record.
I can only hope its good enough to score another $200 freebet like last time :)

I also tipped the tigers/roos draw on the bigfooty tipping comp. Hope that’s enough to win the round!

  28. asanque says:

Scored 2394 (which could have been 2438)
My nearest competitors scored 2306 and 2469.

  29. Windy Hill Wizard says:

Asanque, your nearest competitor made some stupid trading mistakes prior to this round that really cost me.

Rich – Pendes. Cost me about 60 odd points, a trade and $$
Cox – Jolly. When I had White as a back. Who would have thought he was about to turn it on. Jolly scored whoping 4 points higher than White.

Need SJ to come back next week and turn it on, and Pav, but have read Pav looks unlikely.

  30. mal says:

Windy Hill Wizard, Jesse White kicked 19 goals in the reserves these past two weeks, was going to start on the ground and there was no Barry Hall. He was always going to do well. You just didn’t do your research. ;)

  31. Windy Hill Wizard says:

Was aware of all that mal. Should have had more confidence in the guy I guess, but he hasn’t exactly torn it up prior to the weekend even when he was forward.

Saw him a bit like Tex Walker – more than capable but more likely to score 25 that anything like the 99 he scored on the weekend.

Saying that, I’m glad I’ve got him as back-up for the remainder of the year.

  32. Frank says:

scored 2511. Pretty happy with that and awaiting final status from HS.
Hoping for an improvement from 257 to about 220.
I was top score in my league by about 100 points but plenty of 2200 and 2300’s – when they are usually 1900 and 2000’s!!

  33. Lucas says:

Ah well 2100s but I won my matchup against a low ranked team by 250pts, had two zeros in the ruck (normal average 200) and three injured warriors – Bartel (110), Johnson (90) and Adschlong (85).

So add the diff on two fit rucks and three bench warmers to the emergencies and I would have got a 2150+200+50+45+20 – nearly 2450 – so saving trades (5 in the bank) means that 2450 hopefully comes in finals and not now.

Simon I’m hoping I keep my spot around 11000 then pounce in the last few weeks.

For those who did Rich-Pendles, I thought it was a week too soon, but don’t rue it too soon. Pendles is a class act and the Pies were due for a big reality check. A 6th placed side in top 4 clothing.

Ah well at least my mob is 6th (or thereabouts) when rebuilding with lots of youth; no tanking for picks from the Magpies this rebuild.

  34. JJ says:

Wow, some massive, massive scores in the top 20 this round. Woodyman gained, chris lost, lots of movement all round it seems.

  35. mark78 says:

2387, with a late change of Gardiner giving me 1 donut. Also have SJ to come back in hopefully next week.. few great scores and a few lows but generally pretty solid.

Good signs and my team has avoided new injuries :) fingers, legs and most other things crossed!

‘Just’ top scored in my league so good signs..

C’mon Cadel – time for the attack tonight. I just have to sit up for 4 hours to watch the last 30mins..

  36. spud says:

The one down side to the tdf eh mark. Its the end 30-45minutes people want to see in the mountain stages but you have to stay up all that extra time to see it. Usually i’d start off watching the ashes instead but with the way this 2nd test is going im not too sure its any better an option.
