Round 21 – Stats are up.

Apparently, over this weekend, there was a cricket match.

Also, there was, from what I’ve heard, a match for the Bombers the secure a finals birth.

Also, apparently, I was playing Sheeds in the only league I was drawing breath in. The “work” league in which I’ve dominated the entire year.

I scored 2174 and my rank got pushed out to 1,247. Is it wrong to drop the F-Bomb at a time like this? :D

On the plus side, I didn’t score 1247 to drop to 2174…

And also, The Busters! Pushing their lead out to 150! Go you good thing! :D

Seriously, if you win and you get interviewed, drop the name of the site! Seriously man! I mean, TooSeriously… ;)

:D

Anyways, stats will be up tomorrow. I need a stiff drink I thinks… And I’ll try to get a more definitive analysis tool for the Finals comp up and running… (Though it’s not that difficult to analyse using the current DT screens… so maybe I’ll leave that one and concentrate on getting the EPL stuff finished up… :) )

EDIT – Stats are up!

Up against it in the ashes… but only 2 down

Doing my rain dance as we speak!!!

  2. Bandit says:

2133 from my team, not enough in either of my comps, so time to put the cue in the rack for the year.

Thought it would be interesting to put the history down
Team at the start of the year:
Def: Newman, Lockyer, Mackie, Gilbee, Petrenko, Malceski, Raines (Suckling, Broughton)
Mids: Higgins, JSelwood, Judd, Rich , R. Palmer, B Harvey (Otten, Anthony)
    Rucks: Simmonds, Kreuzer (Jacobs, Spencer)
Forwards: Riewoldt, JBrown, Pavlich, Fevola, Franklin, Skipworth, Krakouer (MBrown, Walker)

Team at the end (with 1 trade left and 250k in the bank)
Def: Newman, Lockyer, Mackie, Broughton, Goddard, Drummond, Hodge, (Suckling, Hurley)
Mids: Ablett, JSelwood, Judd, Rich , Goodes, Pendlebury (Muston, Anthony)
    Rucks: McIntosh, Kreuzer (Jacobs, Spencer)
Forwards: Riewoldt, JBrown, Pavlich, Fevola, Franklin, O’Keefe, Didak (MBrown, Walker)

Highest position to date (season): 3,627 (Round 20)
Lowest position to date (season): 60,412 (Round 4)
Highest position to date (round): 582 – Round 16 with 2506
Lowest position to date (round): 131,700 – Round 9 with a hideous 1729

    Awards:
    Heroes:
Broughton, Grimes, Rich, Roo, JSelwood, Newman
    Villans:
Franklin, Malceski, Simmonds, Palmer and Fev
    Unlucky:
Mackie – Cats never had a full defence all year, so he was forced to play taller, and could not run off as easily
    Hodge – Obviously playing injured

Best Cash Cow: Grima + 280k, with Grimes very close behind at 250k

    Trades made along the way:
    ROUND 3
OUT Harvey ($605,400) IN Ray ($347,200)
Jumped off Harvey because of form before the salary drop started… timed it right as he got injured shortly after. Ray was more than serviceable. WIN

    ROUND 5
OUT Raines ($279,900) IN Hodge ($544,300)
Raines injured… Hodge was a ‘bargain’ at 90k under his starting price, but hindsight is wonderful… FAIL

    ROUND 6
OUT Palmer ($395,100) IN Hartlett ($159,200)
Palmer injured, traded out after losing, Palmer in the side to start with was a bad move – FAIL

    ROUND 8
OUT Suckling ($83,400) IN Hooker ($142,700)
OUT Malceski ($315,000) IN Grimes ($188,400)
Malceski to Grimes – Pure WIN
Suckling to Hooker – just to get a playing defence – WIN

    ROUND 9
OUT Skipworth ($306,300) IN Sidebottom ($124,200)
    OUT Krakouer ($395,900) IN O’Keefe ($476,000)
Great bit of business on the Krak-whore to ROK move – WIN
Skippy to Sidebottom to make some cash available (he was also injured, but was more cash cow situation) – WIN

    ROUND 10
OUT Higgins ($396,600) IN Goodes ($509,100)
OUT Petrenko ($192,200) IN Grima ($94,200)
Spudrenko to Grima, the season will indicate that this was a very good move – WIN
Higgins was dragging under the OP rumour… jumped off at a good time as Goodes only went as low as 483k (Round 8), three 150+ and only one sub 80+ after he came in says WIN

    ROUND 11
OUT Ray ($467,800) IN Ablett ($701,700)
OUT Hartlett ($278,200) IN Muston ($94,200)
Jumped on the Muston bandwagon, Hartlett made me 120k, but Muston went AWOL… still I rate it WIN
Ray’s highest price at any point was 476700 (Round 19) so this was a definite win upgrade. Got Jesus at his lowest price until Round 17… but not having him at the start of the year must constitute a FAIL

    ROUND 12
OUT Simmonds ($293,100) IN Jamar ($312,200)
Simply for hanging on to Simmonds for so long (even picking him originally) – FAIL

    ROUND 13
OUT Sidebottom ($267,100) IN Didak ($484,000)
Kicked myself for not moving in Round 12 on Bang Bang, he proved his worth but my delay cost me 55 grand more – therefore FAIL for not having the cohones to go for it

    ROUND 16
OUT Hooker ($278,300) IN Hurley ($154,200)
Cash cow… Hurley would go on to play every game after, and Hooker was sporadic – WIN

    ROUND 17
OUT Otten ($411,800) IN Pendlebury ($396,500)
Another Cash Cow – Had a huge in my head debate about Otten or Rich to trade and got Pendlebury at his lowest point in the season – WIN

    ROUND 18
OUT Jamar ($349,400) IN McIntosh ($420,800)
OUT Grimes ($443,800) IN Goddard ($567,200)
Grimes had run his race, upgraded to a cheapish Goddard – WIN
Jamar was injured, but again served his purpose for those games before HMac came in and made me a bit of cash – WIN

    Round 20:
OUT Gilbee ($353,900) IN Drummond ($441,300)
OUT Grima ($374,000) IN Suckling ($83,400)

Gilbee was too inconstant, and only 6 games over 100+ suggest there were better options at the start of the year @ 526K – FAIL
Grima downgrade to Suckling to free up room for Drummond and then Swan next week – WIN

  3. Ben says:

I reckon chris has got the $50k in the bag, that PK bloke knows it too, he wasn’t particularly happy over on the bigfooty boards.
Personally, moved up to just under 120th overall, pretty happy considering it’s my 2nd year of SC and I didn’t want to go backwards from my finish in the mid 400s last season. Hopefully my side can have one last decent crack next week and sneak a top 100 finish. If it wasn’t for the great advice and comments on this site plus the BE calculator thing, I wouldn’t have come close, cheers to all.

  4. asanque says:

    Really bad week for me.
Out of the DT at the semi-finals.
Premium DT went down to the wire, but just got through.

And out of the 3 SC semi finals, I went down in 2 and just scraped through in 1.

Meanwhile, WHW has well and truly caught up to me and I maintain only a small lead.

Tipping was poor too and was on Port.
St Kilda also killed a few multis.

Oh well, enough with the whinge, Freo got up to give my beloved Hawks a chance to make the finals!

  5. asanque says:

Anyway, its set up to be an epic grand final this week between Kismet and WHW :)
Could definitely come down to 1 or 2 coaching decisions.

  6. Windy Hill Wizard says:

Asanque, cut your lead from 103 to 24 points, so good result for me this week. Couldn’t be closer really only 24 points difference and 4 spots on the ladder (64 vs 68).

Saved by Fisher this week – what a time to rack up a 149. Hopefully ROK and Jolly can do better playing at home next weekend.

Really hoping that Newman gets up this week. Also hoping that Chappy gets wrapped in cotton wool for the finals – why risk him Thommo?

  7. JJ says:

two runouts in 5 minutes just ruined the ashes and my night. The first one was idiotic (and I blame you hussey – your end, your call), the second was just incredibly unlucky. I can’t take it anymore, i’m going to bed :(

  8. simon says:

Absolutely gutted………needed 66 from Broughton to win the Prelim……..49…….are u kidding me……..49……….and there goes 15 slabs down the drain.

Wow……I could use every one of those 360 beers right about now.

21 weeks turns on 17 pts – so very sad on so many levels……………………………………………

  9. spud says:

Couldn’t agree more JJ, it was looking somewhat promising up until that point.

Congratz Chris on extending your lead, its looking extremely healthy now.

Looking forward to an exciting week next week to see what happens with all the finals spots, 2-8 all up for grabs.

  10. spud says:

edit: positions 3-8 that was meant to be

  11. simon says:

Oh yeah – JMac 75 & Rance 99 riding the pine get me thru to GF………who’da thunk it.

(yes, i’m going to whine all day to myself whilst you all sleep) :)

    Chris…..hang tuff mate……& Lucas…..into 2200 overall & change.

  12. spud says:

Not all of us sleep 8 hours a day down ‘ere simon, though most normal people probably do, i am not one of them :D

good on ya for getting thru to the granny, i can almost taste those beers haha

p.o.s poms got the ashes, good luck to ‘em. and gratz to barichello tonight for winning a race and not playing second fiddle to anyone.

everyone get along to the hawks/dons match this saturday and watch the box hill hawks vs the bendigo bombers…well we’re both playing kids aren’t we? good luck tipping the match too, im getting burned by both teams week in week out so i’ll flip a coin.

  13. JJ says:

damn shame about the ashes. all credit to the poms, but we would have had a real good crack at it if it wasn’t for those stupid runouts. I could have seen ponting and hussey batting till tea easily and putting on another 100-150 in their partnership. Ah well, lost it fair and square (until i find out about some umpiring decisions I can complain about!! j/k).

Hawks v dons is going to be epic, I’m totally there. Spewing over the saints falling over again though, I would have had 8/8 and the work tipping weekly prize for a perfect score has jackpotted to $80 bucks.

re EPL, shaping up for a good gameweek for my team in the iiNet comp, but it’s tough to compare until liverpool’s played because gerrard and torres are in a lot of teams (but not mine). Burnley got another surprise win which is nice… sucks to be everton tho :) .

  14. woodyman says:

    GO the Buster Gonads.

Dont wanna put the pressure on too much but i think your gonna win. Unless something disastorous or a shocking injury happens early in a game.

Everything is going right for you.. including the ashes!!
    The year of the pomes

  15. chris says:

WE ARE THE ARMY!! THE BARMY BARMY ARMY!!!

Now the Gonad army to just finish it off. Seems only captain choice and a horrendous injury is standing in my way. Well hopefully anyway.

    COME ON GONADS!!!!

  16. mark78 says:

I think it’ll be a memorable year for you Chris :) Bang up Job ol’ Chap, Carry on!

  17. mark78 says:

Hussey is so fricken frustrating, runs out Punter, finally scores a 100+ when it no longer counts, and it’ll keep his spot for another series… They should have dropped him for Watson (IMO) and stuck it with Hughes …

  18. JJ says:

The EPL league table has updated, we’re currently ahead on 131, beating the two whirlpool leagues on 125 and 123. The one that’s coming second is a slight worry, they’re doing very well despite half of their teams (including ted you traitor!) only starting up this week. We’ll have a better idea of the true position in a few weeks time.

  19. Lucas says:

Ah hindsight is always 2020 after a loss. Lots of us cricket experts.

In the end you don’t deserve a series win with two horrible collapses.

Buster, looking good as I was cheering R Shaw as he was shutting down (if possible) Swan.

Got through to a GF with a 2300 but with no Chappy, possibly no Buddy, no bench coverage and no trades I am in all sorts!

Ah well better to have lived and loved than not to have loved at all.

    Go Buster and go Pies!

  20. chris88 says:

2330 this week and won both my prelims to get into 2 grand finals.

Beat Sheedy by 100 thanks to big Sandi. Needed him to score 30 more than Hill and he obliged quite nicely. Bit of sweet revenge considering Sheedy put me out in the third comp I was in last week (and finished on top of) by 5 points after I made a captaincy SNAFU.

Back up to about 700th overall after getting as high as250 (and dropping to about 850 last week). Hoping Chris Newman is fit to play (I’m not sure) for the coming week where , in one of the 2 comps I’m in, I face Sheedy in a grand final.

Three weeks running I’ve played his team which, truth b told, isn’t travelling too badly at the moment. It would be nice to get up in a GF or two though.

  21. semmo says:

    @Lucas

“possibly no Buddy” ???? Injured?? Or are u referring to the classic hip and shoulder on Cousins? If he gets rubbed out for that I’ll just about give up on the game…

As for me, just snuck thru to a GF against Sheeds next week despite 2 donuts.

And go Gonads!!!! Reckon you’ve just about got it in the bag… :-)

  22. walesy says:

Patrick Smith was banging on about it this morning.

Remember at the start of the year? The new rule brought in by AA because of the Nick Maxwell bump?

The “*any* high contact, even accidental, that is caused by a bump, that could have been avoided and ya gooooorn!!!” rule.

  23. Timmy says:

I’m playing for $1200 this week in the GF and was a nervous wreck yesterday – I can only imagine what you’ll be like this weekend Chris. Good luck fella!

As for Chappy – I thought Bomber said in his pressa he’s right to play against the Dockers. Has this changed since then?

  24. chris says:

glad i kept that trade up my sleeve as its possible no Buddy (i agree with u semmo, this should not get a suspension), no H-Mac and hopefully Montagna isn’t in trouble for that trip….

  25. WindyHillWizard says:

Gee it would have been perfect for Chris had the season finished this weekend – winning $45K plus the Ashes – hard to beat for a Pom.

If I was Chris I would already be looking to take at next Monday off if not the whole week! You have it in the bag!

  26. asanque says:

No way Buddy will get suspended for that.
It was a fair bump and if it is cited, should be definitely appealed.

  27. asanque says:

Be a big match Kismett against WHW this weekend, and a big match Bombers v Hawks :) Ultimate clash.

Looks like it will come down to the Melbourne v St Kilda game (Riewoldt and Fisher) and the Dogs v Pies game (Didak and Gilbee).

  28. WindyHillWizard says:

Unless things go really pear-shaped, I imagine that my clash with Kismet will come down to the last match of the year (Dogs vs Pies) and DidaK and Gilbee having to beat the score on the board.

Hope to have a lead in excess of 300 by that point!

  29. semmo says:

Didn’t Maxwell bump someone who didn’t have the ball? Cousins had the ball and was bumped fairly, should make a difference….

  30. willy says:

god damn it broughton cost ,me a granny and a shot at $800! all year averaging over 100 needed 104 to get thru and turns in a 49 maybe coz dockers didnt have the ball heading into defence coz oof those disgraceful bombers. cant complain though won me plenty of games and price up 450k on the yr
will be very expensive next yr. good luck to all those in gf this week

  31. JJ says:

while everyone is complaining about Broughton, I’d just like to sing the praises of alex rance. Mate, you’ve shown absolutely nothing all year, and have stunk up my backline more times than I care to count, but what a time to turn on a sweet and very unexpected 92 to get me over the line :) .

  32. chris88 says:

Timmy – I did read somewhere in one of the newspapers this morning (online) that Chappy was likely to be out this week and next week as well.

JJ – I’ll see your Alex Rance happiness (been my ninth defender, but pressed into starting duties due to injuries in the backline over the past few weeks) and raise you a Houlihan who has come good at the right time of year as my seventh defender – high 70s and 80s the past few weeks, then comes out on the weekend with a 107 (including two cheap late goals!).

200 between Rance and Houlihan … wow.

Now there are reports doing the rounds that Grimes and Adcock (my two injured bench players) might be a chance for a return this coming week. Grimes has apparently stated he should be fit to play to more than one poster on a Demons’ forum, while Adcock was amongst the best in the Lions’ reserves on the weekend.

That would be a strange twist – though I’m not at all counting on either of the inclusions happening of course.

And (speaking as a Richmond supporter), if Buddy goes, that would be a disgrace. Was at the game, saw the hit – nothing in it.

  33. semmo says:

whilst on emergencies saving people’s bacon, I’d like to acknowledge rance + garlett = 219 points, woooohoooo!!!! wasn’t expecting more than a combined 100 from those two….

  34. asanque says:

    Buddy suspended for 2.

MRP are a complete disgrace and this should be appealed all the way to the courts.

Christ, the AFL are incompetent nitwits.
From Demetriou, to Anderson, to the MRP and the umpires too.

What’s even more ironic is that Rance gets off after hitting Franklin the face whilst he was pinned (gave him a bloody mouth).

    Great work AFL

  35. asanque says:

I added a sarcastic Schenider clap to the above, which didn’t make it through :P

  36. Julian.. Dees says:

very anoyed that i lost to some1 who is 20 thousand places lower then me overall,,he had his best score of 2440 and his previous best was 2260,, i scored 2280 to raise my place to 3750.. but missed out on granny and bragging rights as i hvent made the granny in a league of 15 mates + sheedy,, but i am happy to be 3750 over all in my 1st season of super coach,, hope to improve next season

  37. Jib says:

I wasnt expecting to get into the semi’s so i used up all my trades in my prelim final
Then Watson scored 196 to get me into the semi’s
Then I didn’t think I would make the granny with s.johnson and brown out
Yet I did cos my opponent also had s.johnson and swallow got a sweet 177

doubt luck will be on my side again in the granny
Hoping for s.johnson back or either skippy or stack(unlikely though) and ryder would provide a nice alternative to dawson

Already lost to the guy twice beforehand

Hoping Essendon can roll the Hawks and Buddy is suspended (soz to all those who have him but my opponent has him so i want him out)

Best of luck to ALL :D

  38. Jib says:

Midfield bench scored nicely for a change with 89 from Eagleton (dunno why i have him) and Muston with 90 odd

  39. Jim says:

Getting knocked out of my last finals by 19 points to sheedy with 21 players playing… and the site not registering my change of captain from Ablett to Judd which would have given me 20 more points! Absolutely rubbish… But saying that not too bad for me pulling 2229 with 21 players.

  40. Ted says:

Any joy with updating Rd3 for the EPL game?

  41. walesy says:

Soon enough Ted. I’ve been throwing my guts up for the past few days… I’ll see what I can do in the not too distant future though…

  42. Jib says:

Montagna or GAJ or Riewoldt or even Judd for Captain??? going with montagna for the moment
