Alright guys, we’ve fast reached a place where the running and maintenance and well, popularity, of this place is making itself incompatible with holding down a full time job- which means I need to bite the bullet and try to make a living off this place or yanno, seriously consider walking away.
I’ve really loved developing this place, growing it and spending time here and I hope you guys have been enjoying it too. Because this is a place that has grown because of you guys and for you guys, I don’t want to give you the impression that I’m just grabbing for the cash or gouging but, like I’ve said many times, servers don’t pay for themselves and unfortuantely, contrary to popular rumour, we don’t actually have 9 houses and need to be able to feed the kids and pay the mortgage. Shocking. I know.

So, up until now, TooSerious has been a labour of love but I’d love to be able to have the freedom to dedicate more time to the place and really realise its potential but I need your help to get there. I really don’t want to walk away or let the place fall into disrepair cause hey, I’m quite excited about maybe having the opportunity to make TooSerious even better. I’ve got a whole bunch of ideas on improvements I’d love to add and a list as long as my arm of fixes and tweaks that would add at least 40% more awesome to the joint and I’d love to have the time to get them in.
To this end, over the next couple of days, you’ll probably notice some new ad spaces popping up over the site. Yep- I’ll be cramming them in where-ever I can fit em! 
Now, before I go on, I just feel the need to say- a part of me hurts to be “selling out”, but I reckon we’re hitting a good balance here.
So, firstly, we’re going to try to keep the sponsorships for the newsletter which, I’m hoping, means we’ll be offering you guys some great deals- and personally, I reckon the last one worked out pretty well. What we’ll also be doing though, is for those of you who don’t mind checking the little box on your profile page, we’ll also be doing the occasional advertising newsletter. For these, we’ll get sent an ad with a deal a company wants to offer you guys that will be relevant and hopefully useful and then we send out the email. Your email addresses and details stay with us at all times, they wont be too frequent and we’ll only send them out if we think that there’s something in it for you guys who’ve signed up to get them (think, free bets and discounted booze) so… not just useless spam.
Now, here’s the deal- Ads that pay well don’t sign themselves up and the best way we can bring onboard advertisers who’ll pay the money to keep this show on the road is by having more registered users. I know that there’s a bunch of you out there who have friends who read along but aren’t signed up, and we really want people who use the site and play SuperCoach in here to keep growing our community and keeping it fun, so I thought we could make a game of this registration business.
I’m going to kick off a referral competition hopefully on Wednesday. He who brings in the most friends wins. And, hopefully, we’ll be able to dredge up a few prizes for a few randomly selected people who’ve joined in and given their support to the site.
For my part, I’ll be making some referal links and buttons to put on blogs and in signatures for forums but… we need something to play for so I’m going to put out the call for sponsors. If any of you guys have a business that you’d like to promote whilst giving us a big assist- here’s your chance! You can donate the goods and products of your business like iScent did last year with the perfume giveaways or you can make like Shaun from Bladerunner Property Services and use your hard earned to donate something fun if your business doesn’t lend itself to giveaways directly. (By the way, check that sight out if you’re in the Mornington Peninsula area and need some garden maintenence- they have been fantastic sponsors and supporters of this place!)
So that’s it, ads, opt-in emails and a drive to raise the number of registered users, that’s not too bad is it!?

1) Register! (Yes, talking to you Lurky McLurker!) You’re helping us out and getting all the benefits that come from logging in- you can upload your teams so that you can use all the tools to their best advantage as well as being able to join in with the discussion on the blog and in the forum.
2) Sign up for the newsletters and emails. The newsletters will always have some extra content in terms of articles and some nifty tools that are relevant to the issues of the week, really I’m looking forward to building this newsletter up- It’s good fun to write.
3) Advertise with us! If you have a business, we have some space to promote you. Get in touch. 
4) Donate. As always, we are extremely grateful for those of you who choose to support the site directly and donate. You guys have made it possible to get this far. There are a bunch of benefits for doing so like being able to upload unlimited teams in the league tracker and joining in the donor topics in the forum as well as the warm fuzzies you get from being able to help keep TooSerious up and running.

My ranking for a couple of years was 30,000 now thanks to this site, Im just ouside the top 1000.

As with many of you I love this site and enjoy a weekly read of the articles. Having been heavily involved in the US version of fantasy football for the last 11 years, I too have seen the transformation of fantasy from the labourious print version of scoring to our luxurious computer version.
To be competitive in any serious league a manager needs help from sites such as TS. My point being that these sites in the US do not offer free quality information. The one I used religiously was “thehuddle.com” which cost $24.95 a year. Just giving everyone an idea of the value we get on the TS site…..having said that,I’d better go and donate!

Ahhh…. finally finished the 2011 vintage… anyone in the wine game will know that winemaking isn’t the ideal employment for playing supercoach (70 – 80 hrs of work per week for the first 9 rounds of AFL).
Anyway, what I’m getting at is that the TS newsletter came in very handy the last two weeks, as a quick reference to keep up to date with what’s happening both statistically and injury/form wise, for those of us that haven’t had much free time to be floating around the forums or the stats pages. I can see the newsletter evolving into a very widely distributed peice of information….. I printed the last one off to show the boys at work…. I think they may have finally clicked as to the reason they cop a whopping every year in SC…. as much as it hurt to give up the advantage…. for the greater good and all that….
Great work though Walsey… you can even send a door to door salesman selling tupperware around to my house if you want…. anything to keep TS going strong.

About to donate for second time this year. I don’t have enough time to contribute to discussion, so hopefully my donations make up for it.
Even though I have never personally met any of the main contributors to this site, you can sense there is a real decent quality about each and every one of them, lead admirably by Walesy.

Good idea on getting people to complete the registration. Last year I posted as “Nicks” and fought with Ben (didn’t we all?) – this year I went to sign up at about 11pm and the rego email got caught up in my mail filtering and I pretty much forgot to go back for it. Now I have and ticked the boxes!

Having spent many countless hours on this site and thoroughly enjoying every minute, I have to congratulate Walesy and everyone who contributes to the running and up keep of this site.
I have been looking at Too Serious for a couple of years but only registered last year and then became a donor this year.
The interaction of the site is fantastic and almost all times feedback is constructive and encouraging.
The information contained herein is better than Gold its Platinum and whilst I am not the guru of Supercoach just yet I have certainly changed the way I go about things and I have a far better understanding of the game and how to play it better.
Bottom Line –
IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT SUPERCOACH YOU NEED TOOSERIOUS !!
When you consider how many hours many of us are here, reading posting, evaluating our teams it really is a worthwhile investment to donate. I for one would like to see the site get as much time and attention as Walesy can put in. This will only make it better for us as the end users.
It wont take huge amounts from each person to make some really serious (TooSerious) monetary contributions towards the improving the site (not thats its not fantastic already!!) and going some way to remunerating Walesy and his co contributors for the hard work and effort that they put in.
I really would encourage all readers/site users to register and support Walesy even if its only to add the numbers of users that he can put in front of advertisers.
Further to that if you enjoy this site and you want to see it around for the long haul then please don’t hold back make a donation and together we can all see this site prosper. After all it is being put out into the public arena for our benefit.

This is definitely one of the best websites on the net – a generous community of posters discussing a common interest in the right spirit. And all done without excessive profanities or heavy-handed moderation, something that is all too rare nowadays.
The quality of the posts, posters, and all the innovations (B/E, Ticker, etc) are a great credit to you, Walesy, and I hope that TS continues to head in the right direction.

I agree meataxe it is good.
I’ll have to tone down my live chat. Sometimes I just wonder if people want to have some comedy as well, something to lighten their weekends.
One thing I like on this site is though we are all often pushing the same trades and barrows, we offer enough opportunities for people to voice their different tactics to get them to the top.
Eventually that means we all benefit, someone gets lucky that year and the site attracts a good deal of success.
Once again, I’d like to congratulate the members of the number one league. It’s really tough to take that spot, and I reckon much more than the overall winner, this is the one that sites like this are really aiming for.
It’s almost like the difference between the single sculls and the dragon boat race!
Now…time for me to write a best buys (and a beat the best if I can manage it…time is really tight fur mich)

Sorry for such a delay in donating folks; this site has been so informative and a fantastic resource with generous sharing of ideas. Good luck in making this more of a paid role! If only cricket lended itself better to fantasy games (I really don’t think it does!) I’d be on here all-year round.
I’ve only ever been a league player but next year I may as well have a tilt at the big one – TS has helped in developing knowledge on how best to play SC strategically which has only added to its enjoyment.

meataxe, couldn’t agree more, the community we have here is brilliant. I used to frequent the DT Talk site a lot in its early days but all if a sudden every topic became a shit slinging fight rather than constructive discussion. The DT guys still provide a lot of useful stuff and good entertainment but there’s no point trying to discuss trading strategy with other members anymore.

I reckon Haysie’s point above is an idea to consider – a lot of people here happy to pay for access to this community so a user pays model could be the way forward……..

Just on subscriptions- I can’t see us ever moving to that kind of model- This place is a place for like-minded fantasy sports nuts to get together and talk about the various games that have brought us in here. I’d hate to ever put that ideal in jeopardy.
