Les W. Medal Leaderboard after Round 3 - Top 36

With his second best afield performance in three weeks Whitsunday midfielder Rory Sloane has moved to 12 votes and the outright lead in the Les W medal, two votes ahead of last week's leader, Josh P Kennedy (Nunawading). In Round 3 Rory excelled when the ball was in dispute, winning 18 contested possessions and eight clearances, he also applied great defensive pressure, laying 10 tackles. Fellow midfielders Jordan Lewis (Larrikin Lagoon) and Stephen Hill (Charlie's Opening) are equal third on nine votes. Hill has been the form player of the ORFFA during the past fortnight, receiving four votes in Round 2 and being best afield and providing plenty of run and skilful ball-use with three goals and 30 disposals at a disposal efficiency of 86.7% for an undermanned Charlie's Opening in their fightback Round 3 victory. Waikikamoocow midfield team-mates Nathan Fyfe and Daniel Hannebery are equal fifth on eight votes, being joined by Charlie's Opening midfield/forward Marcus Bontempelli who despite being a late withdrawal for Round 3 is the top ranked player that isn't a pure midfielder.

Les W. Medal Leaderboard after Round 4 - Top 27
[IMG] <p style='margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;]After a best afield performance Waikikamoocow midfielder Nat Fyfe is the new outright leader of the Les W Medal on 13 votes, he is the only player in the competition to have polled in each of the first four rounds. Fyfe excelled in several areas of his game during the Round 4 win against Charlie's Opening, having 30 disposals, 18 contested possessions and was damaging with his ball use to operate at a disposal efficiency of 83.3%. Fyfe also took eight marks including five contested, a number rarely achieved by a player predominantly playing in the midfield, he also won eight clearances. <p style='margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;] <p style='margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;]Larrikin Lagoon ruckman Todd Goldstein had his second best afield performance in three weeks to increase his tally to 12 votes and a share of second place with three midfielders, Josh P Kennedy, Dan Hannebery and last week's leader Rory Sloane.

Another three midfielders are in equal fourth position on 13 votes, David Armitage, Josh P Kennedy and David Mundy. Although Hannebery is leading the Les W Medal he has not had a single best afield performance, however he has been the second best player on the ground in every game apart from Round 2 when he failed to poll a vote. In Round 5 Hannebery laid 10 tackles and had 13 inside 50s, setting new career highs in both categories, he also had 19 kicks, 18 handballs and 18 contested possessions. <p style='margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;]

Les W. Medal Leaderboard after Round 6 - Top 28

<p style='margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;]With four votes in Round 6 David Armitage increased his Les W Medal tally to 17 votes to be equal leader with Nat Fyfe who polled two votes in Round 6, Fyfe was the outright leader after Round 4. Waikikamoocow midfielder Fyfe's streak of vote-getting games is beginning to take on Ablettesque proportions, increasing to six. Darraweit midfielder Armitage is having a break-out season, entering 2014 Armitage's career best for disposals was 22.0 per game in 2014, however he has elevated his game to a new stratosphere in 2015, averaging 33.5 disposals per game, an astronomical 52% increase on his previous best, amassing an ORFFA-best 201 disposals, 19 more than Fyfe, ranked second in the league. In Round 4 against Iron Knob Armitage had a career best 45 disposals, comprised of 21 kicks and 24 handballs, he also had eight clearances, laid five tackles, kicked a goal and won 16 contested possessions whilst operating at a disposal efficiency of 75.4%. <p style='margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;] <p style='margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;]Three midfielders are in equal thid position on 16 votes, with Josh Kennedy and Daniel Hannebery retaining their positions in the top five from last week and being joined by Powlett Plains Packers midfielder David Mundy who polled votes for the fifth time this season, receiving three votes in Round six, only missing out on votes in Round 3.

Armitage (besides maybe Coniglio) is about my only functional midfielder. Thank God he is playing so well. Others could follow his example (looks at Dom Tyson)

The list makes interesting reading. I am quite surprised that in the top 28 there are three rucks, three defenders and one pure forward (as opposed to F/M's). Perhaps there is a corollary, and a broad hint (if one were needed), that in SC you should be chock full of F/M designated players rather than F's.

Just a team full of battlers down at Foul Bay.

Ahh, must taking about Soccer. Phew!) Right to have few friends (or none). Right not to be fashionable. Right to overweight and myopia.
