Break-out! The emerging stars of 2016 (& Rnd 5 Tips)

    This week the stats guys at TipBetPro are taking a look at which players that have been in the system a while (minimum 30 games) are enjoying a break-out 2016 season. Did you manage to get these players in your SuperCoach team … is it already too late or worth an investment on players who might be the next batch of SuperCoach “keepers”?

    So the table above shows that Jason Johannisen is TipBetPro’s number 1 ranked break-out season player … which makes it even more frustrating that he is out for an extended period after tearing his hamstring in Round 4. What about the others – are the four round break-outs sustainable? Will Taylor Adams, Dylan Shiel and Aaron Hall be the next midfield stars of the competition? What about Zach Merrett – a SuperCoach average of 117 is phenomenal … is the supplement scandal going to be the making of him as a player? It is getting harder to ignore Max Gawn in the ruck – from the half-way point of last season, the big Melbourne giant looks the most likely contender to more traditional SuperCoach ruck stars such as Todd Goldstein, Aaron Sandilands and Nic Naitanui. And in terms of most unlikely break-out season – well it’s taken over 200 games but Jarrad Waite is just about a must have as a forward. Waite has been rated by TipBetPro as not just the best forward in the competition but the best player in the competition over the first 4 rounds!

      This week could be anything for tipping. Most games seem to have both teams having a big chance for a win. Your tips look good, by the money I believe you've just gone for the one outsider in West Coast to beat Sydney. I'm no tipping expert, but I'm going with the Swans to win at home and my other difference to your tips is that I have Essendon to beat Collingwood. According to the AFL site, Crownbet have Collingwood @ $1.31 and Essendon @ $3.50. I think it would be fair if they swapped them around! The other one might be that I go for the Dees to beat Richmond, I simply do not know what is going to happen there, I want to tip a draw. I'm a Richmond fan and I think we are pretty shit atm and it's hard to know how Deledio and Maric in will affect that in their first games back, meanwhile the inform Dees also see Viney and Garlett return and they seem to have the wood over Richmond these last few years anyway. Will probably toss a coin for that one

      Yeah the Swans one is very close. Our model has West Coast as the higher rated team however that is all but cancelled out by the Swans superior form (despite last week's result we still have the Swans in better 2016 form) and home ground advantage.

      We're a bit more bullish on your Tigers than you. Statistically, we rate Deledio and Maric as 1st and 5th respectively as our highest rated Tigers which by definition is based on stats that most impact chances of victory. Having that duo back lifts the Tigers team rating considerably compared to the first 4 rounds of the season (we rate their Round 5 side 8th in the AFL, compared to 12th for the Tigers Round 4 side and going back 16th for the Tigers Round 2 team when Edwards was missing as well).

      Collingwood surely returns to form against the kids from Essendon ... surely ... don't they???

      I like the West Coast and Tigers thoughts, I would rather see both of them winning rather than Sydney and Melbourne. ANZAC day will be the one to watch though. Collingwood definitely could smash Essendon by a big margin, just don't be surprised when Essendon win though
