I was originally thinking of going with Kaltukatjara Kids (having worked there once) as my team but decided against it cause having to spell it correctly in all the posts might prove a little difficult from time to time, so opted for something easier..........lol!

'Double Chins' as in you naming the team Chinchilla Chinchillas (just wanted to clarify, not saying you should/shouldn't stay with original name)

There's one week to go now until our opening game in the ORFFF and the buzz around this small mid western Queensland town is amazing, as the locals await their first taste of AFL footy in this Rugby League heartland. There's plenty of "meaty" discussions happening at our 3 pubs between the "leaguees" and the "rules" boys, but most can't wait til the official word arrives as to whom our 1st round opponents will be.
Full contact training has been well under way now for a few weeks, in preparation for the forthcoming season, with most players participating. The exceptions being Michael Hurley who has taken leave to pursue a 12 month TAFE course in Brissy on "Why Alternative Medicine is better than Danks Diuretics",
Jaden McGrath,Tory Dickson, Shaun Higgins and Jacob Townsend who are training separately in the Re-hab Group and
Dayne Zorko, who the Leadership Group has sent to the local PTA, where he will complete 1 weeks Community Service, assisting the Ladies in the School Tuck Shop, serving the kids during "little elevener" and "Big Lunch". After which, he will then travel down the road to the High School where he will deliver a lecture to the kids on "un-necessary violence in the school yard".
On completion of our training session today, the selection committee has come up with the following possible 15 for our 1st game.
    DEF: Tuohy Grundy Adams Woods
    MID: Griffen Stevens JPK Caddy
    RUC: Naitanui
    FWD: Higgins Hall Kerridge Montagna
    I/C: Armitage Harmes

For all those not selected in the final 15, they will be required to play in the Local League against the Gurulmundi Gnats.

For more information, check out the Community Board located on the brick wall near the dunnies, in the Beergarden at The Commercial Hotel, and don't forget the chook raffles there every Friday night.
We will be talking to the licencees of The Tatts and Club Hotels, in the near future, to see if we can use their Hotels also, for fund raising events.

With the ORFFF fixture now official, The Chinchilla Chumps look forward to the arrival of The Mt.Thirsty Boozers for our very first AFL fixture in Chinchilla. We intend to show them a weekend they won't forget, and hope to accommodate them easily on the playing field, especially after they endure one of the longest road trips in ORFFF history.
The Chumps final 15 will be selected after our next training session Thursday afternoon, and will be posted on the Community Board at The Commercial Beergarden, near the dunnies.

Round 1 is now well and truly over and the Chinchilla township is still revelling in their team's historic first up win over the Mt. Thirsty Boozers.
The Boozers well and truly lived up to their name however at the after party, especially Sammy's rendition of "Knees up, mother brown" and the whole touring party needed to be poured onto their Murrays Coach the next morning for their trip back to The Brissy airport.
It's now down to business as we prepare for the visit of the Maralinga Atoms for Round 2.
INJURY REPORT: McGrath is another week or two away and we lost Dickson at yesterday's training session with a quad strain which could see him sidelined for 3-4 weeks.
Having 27 players available this week will make for a long selection meeting, as there were some worthy performances in the magoos and Zorko is back and champing at the bit for some game time. A few changes will undoubtedly be made, and those missing out will get their game time in the 2nds, away to Columboola in the local league.
    B&F Points for Round 1.
    5 Naitanui 153
    4 Hall 129
    3 Armitage 100
    2 Higgins 98
    1 Wood 94

** Caddy was a bit unlucky scoring 116 in the 2's against Gurulmundi but the Football Dept. has decided you must play one's to figure in the B&F.

Round 2 Results. Chinchilla Chumps 1440 def Maralinga Atoms 1209.

In a high scoring game at The Showgrounds The Chumps, with the vocal crowd behind them, scored their second win on the trot, to lead the competition.
With the Chumps defence holding the Atoms forwards to 359, due mainly to a very fine game from first gamer Marcus Adams (135), this allowed the midfield of Armitage Griffen JPK and Stevens(of the Koby type) 403 to out muscle the opposition 298 and move the ball on quickly to a very potent forward line 466, led by the returning Zorko (148), who were then able to kick the winning score.
    B&F Points for Rd2.
    5
    Zorko 148

    Adams 135
    3
    Griffen 132
    2
    Hall 124
    1
    Montagna 100

With some good scores coming from the Columboola game in the Local League, (Mackie 110, Sexton 110, Kerridge 106, Mclean 72, Harmes 72), it could be a very long selection meeting ahead of our away game to Heard Island in Round 3.

And in late news just to hand, McGrath kicked 3 goals in his comeback game from injury and may be considered for seniors.

Man, your players scored extremely well, in both seniors and reserves.

Dont expext things to go so well over at Heard Island this weekend though!

When do you expect to arrive? I can arrange for a welcome ceremony on Try Pot beach.

Our squad of 28 left straight after the game on Sunday. Murrays Coach to Brisbane and then Virgin Airlines to Perth. Chartered an ice-breaker in Perth, and thanks to satellite coverage I'm able to send this note to advise you we're somewhere in the southern Indian Ocean and should make Heard Island Friday afternoon and looking forward to the ceremony on Try Pot beach.

Round 3 Results: Chinchilla Chumps 1378 def Heard Island Shags 1185.

The Chumps have consolidated their position at the top of the table with a hard fought win over The Shags.
In very trying conditions and on the hardest surface (volcanic rock) of any footy ground in the world, in freezing winds whilst playing in the shadow of Mawson Peak, the Chumps were able to put it all together on the day and come out comfortable winners.
Unfortunately, we had a few of the lads underperform (Higgins Kerridge Caddy with 65's and Sexton a miserable 55) but the rest of the team put in the required hard yakka and we came away with the win.

We now look forward to RD4 and our next game against the Port Lincoln Power at Port Lincoln.
Management has decided that, upon our chartered ice breaker berthing at Fremantle on Tuesday, to then hire Murrays Coaches for the trip across the Nullabor to Pt Lincoln. This will add to the bonding experience that all players have encompassed so far, during the past week.

    RD4 vs Port Lincoln Power.

After our long boat trip to Heard Is and back, followed by the arduous Bus trip across the Nullabor, we have arrived in Pt. Lincoln for our game against The Power.
Due to the outrageous travel costs incurred so far, The Chumps management has booked the team into The Port Lincoln Tourist Park for the weekend. The first thing the team did after setting up in their cabins, was to venture onto the Parnkalla walking trail, to loosen the muscles after their bus trip.
A light training run followed and the team was then announced for Round 4.
    DEF: Tuohy Adams Mackie Grundy
    MID: JPK Armitage Griffen Caddy
    RUC: Naitanui
    FWD: Hall Higgins McLean Zorko
    I/C: Picken Montagna

Toby McLean gets his first game for The Chumps and Liam Picken comes back into the side, replacing Kerridge and Sexton who were both a bit down last game.

RD5 Results. Chinchilla 1298 def Useless Loop 1269
In a very tight affair at The Showgrounds, the home side managed to hold on and eke out a win by 29pts.
After 5 rounds, our defence is struggling and posted their lowest combined score, but it was enough to hold out The Virgins, while our forward line headed by our 2nd gamer McLean with 103 and supported once again by Zorko The Magnificent 102, and Hall and Higgins both with 90, scored almost at will. The midfield was sound, Naitanui (115)once again tonned up in the ruck, and Stevens came off the bench to post a game high 123.

RD6 Results: Chinchilla 1274 def Wedge Island 1223
This was always going to be a difficult game, after losing Griffen at training to a back injury, and then Mackie being a late out with homesickness, meant a team re-shuffle with Impey coming into the game.
Naitanui led the way in the ruck with 145, while Caddy, in his best game for The Chumps since getting drafted with our 9th pick, posted 123 and Zorko once again tonned with 110. However it was Impey's 90 up forward that helped us get the win by 51.
