A pretty average round from our ruckmen, with Goddard top scoring on 104, and some solid but not impressive scores from Heppell, Lester, and Vlastuin. The rookies of Terlich and Thurlow were a bit of a let-down, but they still outscored Webster on the bench, so no missed points.
In the midfield we kept the captaincy with Gazza, and were paid off with a 149. Pendles, Danger, and Cotch did their jobs, O'Meara and Goodes held up their ends as rookies, and Lonergan fell away, but the big miss was JPK with his 56. The only saving grace for the scores was that we had donuts on the bench, but it means that our cows aren't mooing, so upgrades may be compromised in the near future.
We gave the VC to Cox in the ruck, hoping that he'd kill GWS, which he didn't, so it was an easy choice to stick with GAJ. Leuey is starting to hurt us, but we may have bigger holes to fill over the next couple of weeks. Gawn scored some points on the bench to keep his price going up slowly, better than Currie who's still yet to pull on a jumper after all the preseason promise. Hopefully he gets a shot over the next few weeks with Majak losing his magic.
Our forwards, and our team, were led by Stevie J and his 151, meaning we missed out on a whole 2 points by selecting Gazza as captain over Stevie - don't think anyone will lose any sleep over than decision! Twinkle toes may be off his radar, and over-emphasising the twinkle, but he still managed to pump out 121 points against the orange and grey witches hats. The rest of the forwards were not much more than serviceable, even with Buddy finding his radar late in the game, and with Macaffer's 79 points sitting on the bench, we missed a potential 18 points there.
All up there were only 20 potential points we missed in round 9, but its 20 points that we never would have selected, so there's no great loss.
Our trades going into the round were to drop Viney because of his long-term injury, and Stevenson, who had stopped mooing. We replaced them with the Webster and Thurlow combo. With neither of our outs taking to the field we had an instant win in both points earned and money made.
Moving onto round 10, and we have a bit of a war chest to start going into the byes. There'll almost certainly be another downgrade this week, with everyone who's anyone jumping on Staker, we should be able to set ourselves up for upgrade after upgrade of players coming back from their byes. Its looking promising, and going to be a damn lot of fun for anyone who's addicted to trading. So come and join us in the donor forum, and help shape the donor team over the next few weeks.
