Since VS took their lollies and went elsewhere, I have found AFL Fantasy quite clunky with an unfriendly interface and some silly rules (price rise after only one game particularly gnawing). However, it is interesting that they have introduced changing DPP status on the fly (then why not Goddard, you ask). Interesting because it is based on data and not a whim. I suspect it will catch on and in time be introduced to SC. Seems walesy has already prepared the software to handle this in advance. Question is, do we want to introduce this status change to ORFFA? As Len is want to say; be at it.
Sorry to hear you are not enjoying AFL Fantasy TiB. While I agree some of the software is not intuitive I find the immediate price increases a great idea - you pick a player who performs and you get the benefit, you do not wait three round for a price change by which time the same price change is available to all. Further, the real tie scoring and rankings I reckon is very cool. As to DPP changes during the season all part and parcel of the SC game. So far VS have only added position changes - Griffiths from D to D/F - and not the other direction. I reckon taking away would lead to a furore. But perhaps we should plan for that eventuality as well.
I think, given we base our league around SC scoring, that we need to wait until SC introduces this for the ORFFA to adopt it. I personally like the idea - I've taken part in a number of Fantasy NBA league seasons where this kind of positional shifting is par for the course. Increases the accuracy and relevancy of player positioning, and usually doesn't overwhelm people - there are a lot of 'fix up' changes made after the first few rounds, but after that, not much. (Though given my paucity of forwards right now, the notion that Frawley would - I presume - be a D/F would be welcome!)
I like the idea but it would need tight structure around how a player would achieve DPP status. Otherwise I can see it degenrating into a bunch of arguments about why player X deserves it but player Y doesnt etc TiB are you suggesting we would use the AFL fantasy DPP changes each year? It might be easier to just stay with SC and their designations.
I would welcome it if SC introduce it, our reliance on the SC scoring system and tsleagues use of it doesn't give any easy chance to opt out anyway. As I understand some posts Walesy has made we can't adopt it within our structure unless SC do.
If SC adopt it, end of discussion. It seems that the software set up for leagues cannot handle it so long as it is not an SC innovation. Nonetheless, it would add some extra spice to your drafting in selecting players with high DPP potential and a closer watch on where they play in the NAB.

For sure, it would add a lot of interest around the real roles people play and have played prior to being drafted, and then the roles they are being groomed for at clubs, without having to wait a year to see the outcomes.. I would love it.
