A surprise round 23 victory over St. Kildasaw the Brisbane Lions narrowly avoid the wooden spoon and ensure another dismal season ended on a high.
The question is now whether or not the club can build on that encouraging end to the year and surprise a few people in 2016.
While it's unlikely the Lions are going to be troubling the play-offs next season, there are still plenty of interesting options in this squad for AFL fantasy coaches who are looking to put together their squads ahead of the New Year. As ever, the 2015 season was a fascinating one for Fantasy fans, and excitement is already building.
The loss of a number of key members of the squadto injury played a role in the Lions finishing 15thin the Fantasy points ladder, although there were a string ofBrisbane playerswho racked up some impressivepoints.
Stefan Martin, for instance, has been slapped with a $631,000 price tag to make him the most expensive player with a lot of Fantasy leagues. While he might be extremely costly, it'd be a surprise to see him not rank as one of the most popular picks when it comes to the Elite drafts.
The recent AFL Trade Period saw four new players added to the Lions' fantasy list in the shape of forward duoJosh Walker and Tom Bell along withmidfield duoJarrad Jansen andRyan Bastinac. The latter are a couple of which will certainly add options to Fantasy coaches.
It's highly unlikely, though, that any of those new arrivals will prove to be as in-demand as midfielderDayne Beams, who will start the seasonwith odds of around 33/1 to earn the Brownlow Medal.
The 25-year-old is coming off the back of a sensational debut season which was brought to apremature end thanks to a shoulder injury, but not before the former Collingwood man has achieved a formidable average of 116.4 fantasy points during an excellent 16 appearances.
For those looking at getting the best value for money, midfielder Pearce Hanleyis an extremely interesting option for Fantasy coaches. The Irishman made his return to action followinga hip injuryearlier in the year and has proven throughout his career that he is more than capable of averaging around 90 Fantasy points a game.
Mitch Robinson is another interesting option for coaches. Starting the season with dual-status, the Tasmanian will be looking to replicate his 2015 form. He finished the final 10 rounds of the season as the league's second highest scoring forward, averaging 112 points mainly due to his tackling abilities.

And if you're in the market for a potential steal, All Australian BenKeays and Rhys Mathieson could end up proving to be huge bargains, both priced below $200,000. Even if neither player lives up to their potential, you're not taking massive risks with either. But the duo have shown enough to convince a lot of Fantasy coaches that they are well worth looking at.

Appreciate this is written for AFLF, not sure Mathieson will get enough games to be Supercoach relevant, Keays may, but even he is more likely to have a Jack Steele season with 6 or 7 games, probably split..

Rockliff looks a steal at his SC price too

Rocky came last in the time trial. Might need to watch him over the pre-season.
