We welcome all 8 coaches to the first ever round of the GWFFPL - to be known henceforth as the Premier League.

We have 8 teams representing the finest cities among 6 continents and are bravely launching our competition across the globe as a toung in cheek flipping of the bird to the scourge that is the Coronavirus. A particularly warm welcome is extended to @Chloe @hoschke118 and @bkp130 who are all joining a TS fantasy comp for the first time.

Anyhoo our first round of matches is as follows and we (randomly) see games between teams who each picked in similar sections of our recent inaugural draft and no doubt are facing several of the opposition who were pinched from us right as we were about to pounce in the draft .... so here is payback time

Canberra Conservatives (pick 7) @bkp130 vs Vancouver Vixens (pick 6) @dmandrews

Korean Kickers (pick 1) @Chloe vs Las Vegas Legends (pick 3) @Pearcey47

Lagos Royals (pick 5) @Peter W vs Stuttgart Storm (pick 8) (TTH)

Lima Llamas (pick 4) @hoschke118 vs Kyoto Kruisers (pick 2) (@FreoDockers)

In theory each of these matchups sees teams who are similarly affected by possible COVID related Round 2 outs so hopefully the fixturing largely negates any impacts and we can just enjoy some good old fashioned fantasy footy slugfests !

If you are the home team feel free to tell us about your home arena's which will no doubt be packed to the rafters for their Premier League fantasy football fix. Away sides play at home next week in Round 2 (AFLW Round 3) and if you haven't yet sorted your digs then you have about a week to get the contracts or 99 year leases signed.

Please read the upcoming posts below for further important info.

COVID ADMIN - please note top-up players will be available to all 8 Premier League clubs in order to help them navigate any COVID bye issues this week and into the future.

Full top-up details, numbers, nominations etc will be posted in a top-ups thread (2021 AFLW Fantasy Topups Thread | TooSerious) and it would be great if everyone checks it out so that as far as possible we avoid mass confusion, donuts and/or forfeits in Round 2.

REGULAR ADMIN - Please make sure that your 18 player squad is entered into TS Leagues nice and early and SAVED correctly, I would recommend doing this as early as possible on Thursday and then resubmitting before each match following progressive naming of AFLW teams across the round (ie Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 530pm) and before the round lockout scheduled for the opening Sunday AFLW match.
    http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagueTeam.php

(as of Thursday morning we have XX of 8 teams submitted without Adelaide, Freo, GWS and WCE players but let's please make this 12 of 12 asap so we don't have forfeits or understrength teams in avoidable situations)

As a once off this week we would also like teams to name their 18 in the thread below so that if there are any system related issues that we can reconstruct the intended side easily midround or backdated after the fact if required.

Once again we hope you will enjoy all of the GWFFPL action this week and if you are super keen to follow proceedings live make sure to download the AFLW app to see the AFLW fantasy scores and cheer your side on throughout the weekend, noting your opposition is shown on the following link.

    Cheers TTH

Pretty happy that it looks like the Lima Llamas will be able to field a full side without top-ups

    Lagos Royals R1:

D: Denby Taylor, Elizabeth Keaney, Phoebe Monahan (Stacey Livingstone)
M: Ebony Marinoff, Georgia Patrikios, Lily Mithen, Eliza McNamara (Tiah Haynes)
    R: Emma King (Caitlin Gould)
F: Tyla Hanks, Sarah Perkins, Eden Zanker (Ashleigh Woodland)
INT: Nat Grider, Jess Hosking (Ellie McKenzie)

Really irritating not to know North's team yet, would love to know when Duffin returns. I'm taking a punt of Monahan not having another poor game and Livingstone playing that well again, but could be bitten on the arse (just figure Dees I50 entries at times can be iffy). Wanted to play Zanker for the same reason they're playing Richmond.

@Peter W as we have a rolling lockout to Sunday morning Duffin can still be brought into the 13/18 after tonight’s team announcements, provided you can juggle the other players around to squeeze her in.

and yep, Night before team announcements are gross.

It is absolutely anyone's game in Lagos as unofficial 3 quarter time scores have the visiting Storm 11/652 leading the Royals @Peter W 9/526.

It's Keaney, Perkins and Grider for the home side vs Britney Perry for Stuttgart in the next one to even up the numbers at 12 apiece before respective big guns Marinoff and Parker lace up the boots in today's 510pm match to complete proceedings.

It appears that the Storm have held on for a 41 point victory over the Royals @Peter W, while in other matches the results were equally as tight with 51 points the highest margin.

Official scores should be provided later today.

Premier League Review - In a word
    Canberra @bkp130 – Ouch
    Vancouver @dmandrews – Just
    Korea @Chloe – Turbo
    Vegas @Pearcey47 - Victorious
    Royals @Peter W – Strong
    Storm (TTH) – Stronger
    Llamas @hoschke118 - DEFENCE
    Kruisers @FreoDockers – Disappointing

As we move on to Round 2 of the Premiership season all 8 teams will be scrambling across the globe in order to arrive in time for a Friday start to the next set of matches.

The Vixens were extremely lucky to defeat the Canberra Conservative Estimates by one point in Round 1 with the Conservatives being down a rotation in the middle of the game whilst ruck Paris Laurie received treatment for a leg injury.

The votes were dominated by midfielders with experienced Vixens midfielders Emma Kearney (105) and Erin Phillips (73) polling five votes and one vote respectively whilst three Estimates midfielders under 24 years of age polled the 4, 3 and 2 votes being Brittany Bonnici (100), Monique Conti (84) and first year player Tyanna Smith (80).

Relieved to get away with the four premiership points in Round 1 and make the long trip from Canberra to Vancouver for the Vixens first home game against the Korean Kickers in Round 2.
