Here's the proposal:
Quote from Bandit on May 22, 2012, 12:21 OK, let's see if we can get the numbers together. I propose we run the state of Origin game in conjunction with Round 8 of the ORFFA, right between the Winter Solstice and the NAIDOC celebrations to make it a 3 week carnival showcase of the ORFFA and it's deep pool of talent. Teams of 22 players, with 3 position specific emergencies, from each of the participating clubs in that 'conference' Conference Members Victoria & New Zealand Waikikamoocow Incorrigibles Far Kew Frogs Nunawading Nuffers Daraweit Guim Dirigibles Gariwerd Cockatoos Mt. Beauty Uglies Powlett Plains Packers Namatjira Nuffers Venus Bay Vultures The Anzacs [EDIT: Name being debated] Mawson Base Penguins Foul Bay Chickens Iron Knob Codpieces Marble Bar Misfits Whitsunday Warriors Birdsville Battlers Gundagai Grasshoppers Cradle Mountain Devils Charlie's Opening Spelunkers Teams to be selected in a forum thread created, selection panel comprises the 9 coaches from each conference, with a voting system for disputed player selections. Each conference to nominate a coach to coordinate the selection process and represent the other 8 coaches in press conferences and other marketing related activities. ORFFA coaches are discouraged from withdrawing players from selection due to 'General soreness' or like related injures. This is a show piece event for the ORFFA and as such the best available talent should be placed on the field. Scoring to be based on supercoach rules, no out of position players permitted, captain scores double, vice captain scores double if captain does not play. Teams to comprise of 7 defenders, 6 midfielders, 2 rucks and 7 forwards, 3 emergency players permitted in nominated positions. ... I am happy to coordinate if needed.
OK, it was suggested by TiB that I be the designated coordinator for this team. I said I was happy to if nobody else wanted to do it, and as noone has raised their hand, I thought it about time I got this thread going... somewhere for us Vics and Kiwis to select our team. Personally, I reckon we should pay bugger all attention to averages, and pick a team best suited for this rep style footy. Someone like big Quintin Lynch of the Packers, who is probably averaging next to nothing but could absolutely dominate a game of this type; or Eddie Betts of Darraweit Guim, who would be a marvelous type to have around the team, and for his amazing goal kicking skill. Or another player from Darraweit Guim, Boomer harvey, who, despite having a poor season this year, we may want to give him a go in this team before he retires in the not too distant future. Before we get to picking the team... What needs to happen first, is that we need to convince our friends across the Tasman sea to come onboard this idea, as they have made it quite clear they will not be participating under the current format. It seems that a name change of the other mob has been proposed, but they have not gone about changing it yet. I reckon us Vics all need to get behind this and collectively push for their name change to happen, in solidarity with our Kiwi mate. Now, even though there may be some players that change alegiances throughout the current trade and draft periods, we probably need to get moving on our team selection. The game is on during round 8 of the ORFFA, which immediately follows our midseason draft. We should have our team sorted by a certain date (yet to be determined), and have ample emergencies on each line for me to be able to set final 25 on my own sometime between the subs of Fridays AFL game being announced and lockout. I would like to propose that all 9 coaches get to nominate 1 player from their own team, and 1 player from another team to be in the final team. And then once we have those players compiled, we can see what gaps we need to fill. Here are the players we can choose from: Victoria & New Zealand Waikikamoocow Incorrigibles Ah Chee, Brendon Armstrong, Tony Bellchambers, Tom Bootsma, Joshua Chaplin, Troy Docherty, Sam Dyson, Ricky Edwards, Aaron HANNEBERY, Daniel HIBBERD, Michael Jacobs, Sam Kennedy, Adam Lonergan, Sam Maguire, Matt McVeigh, Jarrad Mitchell, Sam Mitchell, Tom PODSIADLY, James ROBINSON, Mitch SHAW, Sam SMITH, Isaac Sumner, Liam Taylor, Harry Warren, Ben Westhoff, Justin ZIEBELL, Jack Far Kew Frogs Adcock, Jed BALLANTYNE, Hayden Bird, Craig Bradley, Kepler Brennan, Jared CADDY, Josh Chapman, Paul COLYER, Travis Doughty, Michael DUNCAN, Mitchell Green, Brad Grimes, Jack HAMS, Ashton Hargrave, Ryan Hille, David Hunt, Josh KRAKOUER, Andrew LUCAS, Kane Mattner, Martin McCarthy, John McIntosh, Hamish Swan, Dane Thompson, Scott Wellingham, Sharrod Whitecross, Brendan Winderlich, Jason Nunawading Nuffers Black, Simon Brown, Mitchell Brown, Nathan Campbell, Matt Cross, Daniel Dawes, Chris Dell'Olio, Cory DIXON, Charlie Gibson, Sam Goodes, Adam Hampson, Shaun Hombsch, Jack Hudson, Ben KENNEDY, Josh Lake, Brian Maxwell, Nick Miles, Anthony Mohr, Tim Russell, Jordan Sherman, Justin Simpson, Kade Stanton, Brent Stevenson, Lewis TUTT, Jason Walker, Taylor Wood, Easton Daraweit Guim Dirigibles Betts, Eddie Boyd, Matthew Cassisi, Domenic Dal Santo, Nick DEA, Matthew Duffield, Paul Foley, Nathan GRIMES, Dylan Harvey, Brent HOWE, Jeremy Joseph, Aaron KEEFFE, Lachlan Kerr, Daniel Maric, Ivan MCKENZIE, Trent McPharlin, Luke PICKEN, Liam Rance, Alex Renouf, Brent ROHAN, Gary SMEDTS, Billie Smith, Nick Van Berlo, Nathan Veszpremi, Patrick VICKERY, Tyrone Walker, Andrew Gariwerd Cockatoos Burgoyne, Shaun Clark, Mitchell Davey, Alwyn DE BOER, Matthew Deledio, Brett Gibson, Josh Gray, Robbie Hansen, Lachlan Hurn, Shannon Magner, James Masten, Chris Milne, Stephen Monfries, Angus Morton, Cale PITTARD, Jasper POLEC, Jared Priddis, Matt Sellar, James SMITH, Brodie SMITH, Zachary STEVENS, Koby STRATTON, Ben Sylvia, Colin Thomas, Matt Tippett, Kurt WALLIS, Mitch Mt.
Quote from anthak on June 21, 2012, 20:56 I guess not... What are we gonna call ourselves, anyway? Any ideas?
It should be relatively simple ant. You call yourselves the ANZACS. No need to be democratic about it, just change the name on your thread. And while you are at it, change our thread to THE PINK TUTUS. Sadly I lack the skills to do it.
I think you can do it TiB. If you start the thread, you can change it. Just quote something in the thread and you can change thread name when new screen opens (same was as how you get 3 image upload boxes to appear.
Anyway, I got roped into this when I didn't really want to, and as it turns out, I haven't got time to do it this week. So someone else will need to put the team together for us mob. Sorry fellas.
Rough team I put together, no doubt missed people though Taylor, Harry - Frawley, James - Lake, Brian Scotland, Heath - Waters, Beau - Deledio, Brett Selwood, Scott - Thompson, Scott - Swan, Dane MARTIN, Dustin - Riewoldt, Nick - SIDEBOTTOM, Steele Chapman, Paul - Franklin, Lance - Goodes, Adam Jolly, Darren - Watson, Jobe - Cotchin, Trent Boyd, Matthew - Hampson-Gale, Shaun - Mackie, Andrew
No doubt. If you don't want NicNat in your ruck, we are quite happy to look after him for the weekend.
Hi Praptor, NicNat for mine - and I am an Essendon man through and through. I have had a little whinge from Sammy Mitchell about not being picked and frankly I must agree with him. Last six game week scores of 117, 101, 114, 91, 133, 116 and 124 support his inclusion. Mitch Robinson would also like a call up. But, of course, the decision as convenor is yours.
Taylor, Harry - Frawley, James - Lake, Brian Scotland, Heath - Waters, Beau - Deledio, Brett Mitchell, Sam - Thompson, Scott - Swan, Dane MARTIN, Dustin - Riewoldt, Nick - SIDEBOTTOM, Steele Chapman, Paul - Franklin, Lance - Goodes, Adam NAITANUI, Nic - Watson, Jobe - Cotchin, Trent Boyd, Matthew - ROBINSON, Mitch - Mackie, Andrew EDITS: Yep didnt see Nic Nat, Robinson in as forward emergency, Scooter out for Sam Mitchell.
Not sure if our name has been decided, but my suggestions are 'The Woolly V' or 'The Shakers' (too soon?)
"Teams to comprise of 7 defenders, 6 midfielders, 2 rucks and 7 forwards" Didnt see this, better conform to it.
Another draft: BACKS: James Frawley Brett Deledio Heath Scotland Beau Waters Harry Taylor Alex Rance Jed Adcock MIDS: Sam Mitchell Scott Thompson Dane Swan Jobe Watson (CAPTAIN) Trent Cotchin Matthew Boyd Matt Priddis RUCKS: Nic Naitanui Sam Jacobs FWDS: Lance Franklin Nick Riewoldt Paul Chapman Adam Goodes Steele Sidebottom Mitch Robinson Jordan Lewis EDIT: T. Walker(f), Chaplin (b) and Stanton (m) as emergencies I'm by no means the only selector, so please feel free to suggest changes.

@PRap, please stick your final team in the "any appetite" thread before lockout. If there are no comments (and there doesn't appear to be) go with what you've got.
