This week's round sees the same matchups as the same round (Round 7) in 2016 - where amazingly all the results were within 90 points http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagues.php?leagueId=14&round=7&year=2016 http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-7.89450/ The Dropbears and Chinchilla/now Mac Island also squared off in last seasons Qualifying Final with the upstarts providing the Minor Premiers with a extremely tight contest http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagues.php?leagueId=14&round=19&year=2016 http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-finals-preview.89604 teams currently in the ORFFF top 8 in bold Neptune Island Noahs (6-0) vs Useless Loop Virgins (5-1) - can the Virgins stop the juggernaught from Neptune Island notching up an even dozen ? Cockburn Avengers (2-4) vs Rutherglen Fugitives (5-1) - Cockburn will need to lift to trouble the team that is perched nicely in 2nd position. Walpole Woylies (3-3) vs Jan Juc Ducks (4-2) - the second of the clashes between current top 8 sides sees the young un's from Walpole up against the experienced Ducks, who posted their lowest ever ORFFF score in the corresponding match last season but still managed to escape with a narrow win over the Woylies. Black Swamp 29ers (2-4) vs Nangkita Bucks (4-2) - the 29ers will be looking for a top 8 scalp against the Bucks if they are to notch back to back wins for the first time this season Macquarie Island Whales (4-2) vs Drouin Dropbears (2-4) - Mac Island will be hoping to make it 3rd time lucky against the Dropbears who defeated them by 90 and 29 points in last year's clashes, both of which were on the Dropbears home turf, a big selection mystery is whether Dangerfield boards the charter flight on Friday morning as the Drouin champion may be under a slight injury cloud. Port Lincoln Power (1-5) vs Mt Thirsty Boozers (4-2) - the Boozers will be favoured to make it 5-2 Heard Island Shags (3-3) vs Maralinga Atoms (2-4) - should be a close match as Heard Island home matches often are. Wedge Island White Pointers (1-5) vs Mole Creek Glow-Worms (0-6) - 15th vs 16th - 4 losses in a row versus 7 on the trot, whoever wins may struggle to remember the words to the team song but it will be sung with gusto regardless, the loser will most likely be singing their song too with the MSD looming large in their plans As always get your team entered over at http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagues.php?leagueId=14 Previous 2017 Round threads are below http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2017-round-6.89857/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2017-round-5-anzac-round.89848/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2017-round-4.89841/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-round-3.89828/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2017-round-2.89818/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2017-round-1.89802/ Good luck to Rutherglen and Neptune Island as they clash in the first ORFF* knockout Semi Final providing the first ORFFF derby of the tournament while Jan Juc hosts Nuytsland Vikings from the ORFFU in the other semi final, and we also wish them good luck in that clash.
As a Rutherglen aficionado I have decided to even up the odds by holding a drinking competition the night before the game at the Fugitive's local watering hole, not being completely stupid the Avengers players will fly in the day after
@Len - Avengers will be playing at home according to the OP schedule - unless of course Rutherglen have compensated you handsomely for shifting an Avengers home game ?

Cockburn off to a flyer - nothing like putting one away early on a Friday night - unfortunately the only way is down from there! Fugitives 96 / 1/ 96 Avengers 580 / 6 / 97
Black Swamp (Round 7) In - McVeigh, Degoey Out - Cutler, Puopolo McVeigh C Hooker Geary Mayes - JamesKelly Viney Duckwood Grigg Bont - Newnes Westhoff DeGoey BenBrown S Reid - Puopolo Sinclair - Mackay (oop) Masten Barlow The 29ers match committee met for 3 minutes this week after 20 second meetings in the first 6 weeks of the season. Co-vice captain McVeigh and Rutherglen recruit DeGoey were named for their first AFL and ORFFF games down back and up forward to take the number of 29ers to have played AFL in 2017 to 26. Greybeard James Kelly was again named as emergency which should freshen his old body up heading into midseason and Allir Allir and SD Thompson share the orange boy and giving the visiting side a verbal barrage from the clubhouse bar duties with Dom Sheed despite Sheed notching 97 as unused emergency last week. The coach had a tear in his eye as he told Paul Puopolo that he had been dropped but as we know the ORFFF is no place for sentiment. No sign has been heard recently from Kade Stewart who failed to make the hawks 25 this week while Jarryd Blair and the 29ers brainstrust are not sure whether we are hoping for injuries at the pies or Bucks to get the sack in order to get Jarryd a game and boost our forward depth prior to the MSD. Despite the ladder positions of the 2 sides the 29ers coaching staff have pumped their side up as a clash between Northern New South Welshmen and former Queenslanders @Dale Duivesteyn is always going to be a spirited affair. With very close to a full strength line up it is effectively now or never for the boys from the Swamp.
@tyze1 - I have it on good advice from a "friend" (** cough, cough - bullshit, not really **) that one does not want a heavy dose of Cockburn on a Friday night (or any other night for that matter).
@Dale Duivesteyn 29ers now leading narrowly 9/779 (plus McVeigh, Sinclair, Reid, Mayes, Viney and Hooker) vs Bucks 10/745 (plus Paparone, Keays, Gibson, Shiels, JOM)
