Round 1 of the 2020 ORFFW season sees 6 mouthwatering clashes as the ORFFW stages it's first matches since the dreaded coronavirus shut down the 2020 season suddenly and dramtically. We welcome back 10 coaches and say welcome to @Peter W and hello again to @Pearcey47 as they join our crazy crew for ORFFW season 2. Here are the matches in a short and sweet pre-match preview format (2020 ORFFW home and away placing and W/L record in brackets) @ver_redit_optatum @anthak Glenbrook Galahs (6th, 3-3) vs Pomona Nymphs (5th, 3-3) – the clash of the round as both teams wish to get the new season off to a flying start and show they have what it takes to secure a top 4 position they narrowly missed in the first ORFFW keeper league season. @FreoDockers @Tiny_doughnut Katanning Krushers (2nd, 5-1) vs Sandgate Sugar Gliders (10th, 2-4) – Kara Antonio has swapped between these sides over the summer as a cashed up Gliders outfit recruited heavily to land favouritism for tag of this year’s big ORFFW improvers. @dmandrews @Len Lake St Clair Devils (1st, 5-1) vs Bathurst Belles (12th, 1-5) – The Premiers are at home against last year’s wooden spooners. @Len will need to get the Belles to play to their limits to upset the mighty Devils who are set to unfurl the premiership flag with pride. @Pearcey47 @Tracey Legana Legends (9th, 2-4) vs Scone Sirens (11th, 2-4) – Darcy Vescio has also swapped between these sides over the summer as a new coach has shifted the franchise from the Gippsland Valley to the Tamar Valley and are another side set to surprise the ORFFW community in season 2021. TTH @marconofrio Manildra Mystix (8th, 2-4) vs Georgia Geeniuses (4th, 4-2) – Rucks Saad and McKinnon both come up against their former ORFFW sides and their ruck duel may well be the determing factor as the 2 teams play off for the ………. McKinnon/Saad Cup. @Peter W @That KI Guy Timboon Trailblazers (3rd, 4-2) vs Vivonne Bay Valkeries (7th, 3-3) – both sides drafted a slew of young talent as they look to build squads capable of becoming the ORFFW’s first great dynasty. After starting 0-2 last season the Valks need to be fired up from Round 1 to avoid their season repeating last, whiel the Trailblazers have been reborn after a Timboon business committee convinced the Battlers hierarchy to shift to SW Victoria in the hours before this season’s ORFFW pre-season draft. .... and as they say in the classic talk is cheap and that is all she wrote !!
Please be sure to partake in the ORFFW Supplementary Draft if you need to replace fringe players who are not selected for Round 1, or any players who are ruled out for 2021 and moved to the ORFFW inactive players list. 2021 ORFFW Supplementary draft | TooSerious Please also make sure that your 18 player squad is entered into TS Leagues nice and early and SAVED correctly, I would recommend doing this as early as possible on Thursday and then resubmitting before each match following progressive naming of AFLW teams across the round. http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagueTeam.php (as of Thursday morning we have 6 of 12 teams but let's please make this 12 of 12 asap so we don't have forfeits or understrength teams in avoidable situations) May all the coaches old and new alike have a great round as we kick off the 2021 season, if you are super keen to follow proceedings live make sure to download the AFLW app to see the AFLW fantasy scores and cheer your side on throughout the weekend, noting your opposition is shown on the following link. http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagueMatchday.php?leagueId=21&round=1 Cheers TTH

The Mystix selection committee have named the following 2021 ORFFW Round 1 team to play the GEEniuses @marconfrio New = Chelsea Randall (Free Agent Drafted in the 2021 ORFFW Draft - first round pick #5), Metcalfe (unknown 2020 Free Agent status, undrafted in 2021 Preseason Draft, 2021 ORFFW supplementary draft selection) Def = Emonson, McMahon, C Randall (M Brown) Mid = Prespakis, Gavalas, Elise O’Dea, Dillon (M King) Fwd = Hore, E Antonio, Ashmore (Georgostathis) Ruck = Metcalfe (Seymour) IC = Zreika, A McDonald (Drennan) 2nds - xxxxxx
The Mystix appear to have recorded their first win of season 2021 with an unofficial scoring tally of 756 to the visiting GEEniuses @marconofrio 620 from 12, with a bus line mishap seeing Georgia players Duffin, Sedunary and Varnhagen miss their stop and travel 300km too far before anyone realised, thereby leaving their side a player down. If any of the coaches care to tally and post their match scores feel free as our round calc usually takes a while in the first week.
Well, what a close one between the Krushers and the Sugar Gliders. It all came down to the last match of the round and scores are that tight it will need to be assessed by those in control before a final result is in. By my calculations, the Krushers have scored 655 to narrowly defeat the Sugar Gliders 627.... I only hope I hit the calculator buttons correctly...
http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagueMatchday.php?leagueId=21&round=1 We all rejoiced in having footy back and the Round 1 winners in ascending order from lowest to highest margin were Katanning @FreoDockers, Pomona @anthak, Timboon @Peter W, Scone @Tracey, Manildra (TTH) and (fittingly) reigning ORFFW premiers Lake St Clair @dmandrews. The Sirens were perhaps the most fortunate and benefited from a botched loophole attempt by the Legana @Pearcey47 side, with perhaps the most surprising 5 vote best and fairest effort in the ORFFW’s short history came courtesy of the Sirens Elle Bennetts (91). Elsewhere the match of the round between Pomona and Glenbrook @ver_redit_optatum saw a flurry of Sunday morning line-up changes by the Galahs as they them managed to field a full side but fall just short of topping the Nymphs in a pulsating final term. The post match presser at Glenbrook was an equally tense affair as ORFFW media repeatedly questioned the Nymphs decision to impose a club suspension of 1 game for Ebony Marinoff even after Noffy managed to avoid suspension for a preseason practice match incident. Round 1’s six travelling sides will all be playing at home for ORFFW Round 2 which commences on a much more convenient Friday night start.
I wondered if anyone would notice that. It was a tough week for Noffy and we decided to give her the game off, even though we ended up playing the game one woman short! We are pleased that we still won the game.
