Discussions and completed trades in here due to it being a short period. This thread is now active. The trade period ends Monday the 30th of March at 11:59PM AEST.
Since we are waiting for Snoz and the final pick, would just like to canvas people's views on our Auction option. I could be wrong, but have the impression there was a fair amount of activity this year and people seemed to enjoy it as something a little different to trading. Is this the case and thus do we make it a regular feature of ORFFA? Any fine tuning needed? Suggestions?
Don't hold two auctions at once, would be my only proviso. That auction process for 3 and 11 was a long haul. I like the auction process, but won't be using it exclusively either - one thing I found was that the time spent monitoring the process can become quite significant ... if you aren't around on a semi regular basis you can't provide good feedback to bidders on their bids.
With the last pick finally taken, am assuming the Post Draft Trade Spectacular (PDTS) is officially open.................. (Um how long for?)

WOOO HOOOO, MOAR TRADING! On offer: Adam Cooney. Do you want him on your team, decked out in beautiful black and red? If so, inquire at the Darraweit FC clubrooms (ie - the pub, or this forum, or by PM). I would look particularly kindly on a defender.
The Nuffers are looking for a playing ruckman. If you feel you have to fill a spot in your team at the expense of such a beast we would be pleased to enter into discussions with you.
I'd love to be able to help Andy but not sure I can. Perhaps you might like to pm me a suggestion around the cats? BTW, Len - what percentage of the PSD was in adding rucks? No need to weight for rounds or anything technical.

No need to weight for rounds or anything technical. 10 of the 83 were ruck eligible.. 5 in the 4th round, 2 in round 1 and 3 and one in round 2 Fair to say most were fringe or developing. 25 are still in the pool, but there is a good reason for most of them..
Guys please note that whilst trades in this period can involve pick exchanges they need to be 1 for 1 in player numbers.
Wagga Wagga and Venus Bay have reached a trade 4 days out from the beginning of the season. Jay Schulz heads to Venus Bay in exchange for Billy Longer to Wagga Wagga. As coach of the Wombats, I realised that after being unable to pick up a decent back-up ruck in the draft, I needed to trade in someone to compliment Lycett. Venus Bay was the team that stood as due to having three ruckmen who will play frequent games (when fit). The choice was made easier knowing I have enough depth in my forward line to be confident in trading Schulz, as well as Fitzy having quite a thin forward line. Good trade for both parties.
Rucks clearly seem to be the most sought after position on the field right now. It'll be interesting to see how things pan out as some of these ruckmen that are first ruck for the teams get older ... and there aren't rucks to replace them. It is going to leave quite a number of teams in awkward positions I think.
The Dirigibles and the Nuffas have come to a deal that sees: Darraweit trade: Nic Naitanui, Reece Conca (we hardly knew ye) and Daniel McKenzie (we hardly knew ye) to Nunawading for Shaun Hampson, Nick Haynes, Jaeger O'Meara and a 3rd round 2016 PSD pick. We thank Nic Nat for his efforts in season 2014 and genuinely hope he goes onto even bigger and better things - maybe a 110ppg average - in 2015 at his new home in Nunawading. We bid a sad farewell to Messers Conca and McKenzie who never played a game for us. Mr Conca has looked quite good off the half-back line over pre-season and might be on track for a M/D designation in 2016 as well as an increase in scoring. As for Mr McKenzie he was only with us for about a week - he's going to be a good player. Welcome to Messers O'Meara and Haynes, who will help strengthen our midfield and defence. And welcome to another Tiger - the man mountain doughnut Shawn Hampson, who, if needed, will back up big Ivan at both Richmond and Darraweit. Big Shaun is purely a backup - and clears Andy's list of a virtual non-playing doughnut. But if Big Ivan ends up hurt, we have full confidence in Shaun doing a great job.
Bandit wrote: He brings a handy WAG with him too Chris This wasn't an immediate consideration, I have to admit. But now that you mention it, we have already noticed a spike in the membership just in the last couple of hours. There's also been a request put in for baby-aged childcare facilities at the club, signed by 'S Hampson and M Gale'. That occurred rather quickly.
