The annual clash between the two Tasmanian teams is one of the most anticipated events on the Tassie sporting calendar with the two teams being engaged in some thrilling and entertaining battles over the years. Nick Vlastuin returns to the Devils team for Round 5 after missing Round 4 due to being managed following his Round 3 concussion. Jade Gresham has been omitted after falling just short of 70 in his first ORFFA game of the season. 14 Devils are averaging at least 75 in 2017, up from nine players in 2016, due to this competition for spots in the CMD best 15 has well & truly intensified in 2017 with the return of Michael Hurley & Dyson Heppell from suspension along with the recruitment of Tom Lynch and development of younger players Zak Jones, Toby Nankervis, Jack Steele and Jacob Hopper. For the second week in a row Stevie J will concentrate on his role as assistant coach of the forward line, he will return to the Devils side for Round 6, however given that he is currently Cradle Mountain’s sixth ranked forward his form will need to improve to maintain a position in the Devils team up until the mid-season break.
