Whom are the one or two guys on your list that you expect to breakout this season, who should we get on board with from your team in our SC sides this year? Assuming these guys are off your tradeable lists, or you want a chance to blow their tires up during the trade period.. For the Misfits, we are very bullish on Zac Williams and Adam Tomlinson, Williams has shown from limited opportunities that he has some exciting skills and more game time is likely this year. Tomlinson was deployed as a utility for much of the year playing fwd back and mid, odd that CD have nailed him to fwd as this year he is almost certain to play an outside mid role, NDS style. Both guys are awkwardly priced but represent good value at the money. Who's yours?
I think Shane Savage might go big in his new role at St. Kilda. Jackson Thurlow and Sam Reid could go big too... depends if they play Reid up forward with Franklin and Tippett... won't be a bad thing to have the 3rd defender every week... butI fear Horse might put him down back.
It would be easy to talk up some of the young mids but want to offer some more useful ideas. These two are not trade possibilities. Luke Russell (D, GCS) had [span style='color: #2e2e2e;]dual hip surgery to reattach a labral from his hip bone and hopes to [span style='color: #2e2e2e;]join the main training group before the NAB Challenge series. Expecting him to become part of the Suns' midfield rather than continue as a swing man in what is his fourth season. I know that's a big call but there you go; please note it will not be right from the start of the season. Picking him to breakout from his injury affected 18 game, 59 average in 2013. Will be a early to mid-season upgrade in my fantasy teams. [span style='color: #2e2e2e;] [span style='color: #2e2e2e;]Stewart Crameri (F, Bulldogs) has reunited with his former mentor Brendan McCartneyat the kennel. Should benefit from increased onfield time and the reduced rotations coupled with his improved aerobic fitness level should mean he will benefit from midfield time. Subject to injury, last years 16 games at a 72 average should be comfortably exceeded - I am picking him to average in the 90 - 93 range with the potential for a higher average as a result of some big scores if the dogs improve as much as the pundits suggest. Cheers guys, much appreciated, I have a vested interest in Savage as a 50yr Sainter, the rest are going in my SC note book If we can all throw out a few tips on our own guys between now and SC kickoff it will help the ORFFA SC league kick some booty
........I wish I had breakout players Len.....I'd keep an eye on Tim Broomhead (114k Fwd) as a cheap FWD. I've followed this kid since drafted in '12 and last year came down with Glandular Fever so didn't join the VFL team till mid year. Lots of chatter about him on the boards........ideally suited to that sweeping HFF position: ''He may have a low profile now, but Broomhead is one of Collingwood's most exciting prospects. It's the little things that he does - a knock on here, a smother out of nowhere there, or a well-weighted kick to a leading forward - that makes him stand out from the crowd. His progress over the pre-season will be keenly observed by those who saw him in the VFL with the hope that he may break into the senior side at some stage next year.''
No decent breakout contenders in my lot. Most of mine are awkardly priced or have better options at a similar price. Just one bit of potential value really and that's Murphy. Sub $500k for a guy with 4 seasons of 110+ under his belt.
I think Patrick Dangerfield might go alright Oh...and Libba. But in all seriousness, I expect improved output from Mumford (given the hopeful increase in ruck time), Hawkins (who by all reports is getting over the back stuff), Luke Dahlhaus (I'm hoping he builds on the last 6 weeks of 2013 and takes his game to another level), Yarran (say this as a hopeful Carlton supporter because he needs to pull his finger out) and the smoky is Ryan Harwood who I'm hoping gets more of a gig under Leppa. Having said all that, wouldn't pick any of them in SC. I'll just stick to Dangerfield and possibly Libba.
Here at the 'Goon, the raucous parochialism of our supporter base can barely be stiffled by our gritty modesty. From the muffled melee, the names of our highly touted new wave of cult figures emerge... Selwood, Cunnington, Conca, Golby, Rohan. Many would argue that some of these lads have already 'broken' (pun partially intended), but further improvement will be demanded. Strangely enough, none of our hierarchy are willing to wager their cosy digs on the likelihood of these boys becoming elite.
Dom Tyson would probably be one from my list. Jack Newnes maybe another. Expecting a big year from Ty Vickery, and perhaps Mr Coniglio might repay the faith.
Cheers guys, a Misfit update, don't pick Redden to start, he will be missing-unfit. Tyson a lock in my team Chris, not sold on Newnes, partially because we haven't seen what roles the coach wants the young guys to concentrate on, but also because his efforts to date have been mostly 'ok'

We're wanting to develop him as a mid. Impressive young leader.' He will play at that rate, still not sure his role isn't going to be a negating player though

:bump: Looking back on this, a few of us were on the money, and a few not so. Interesting to look back at. Prob even better at end of season, but I couldn't wait.
I was so far off the mark I couldn't even see the arena let alone the target... although my suspicions of Sam Reid were confirmed... I am hoping for DP next year
Sam Rowe to become the next play making, intercept marking backman (a la Lake in his heyday) over the next couple of years. He has really pulled a rabbit out of the hat this year. Makes me wonder if he gave up a testicle for this. The Nuffers will observe a minutes silence in memory of the testicle and the sacrifice Sam made for the club.
