Nice job, Holky. It's good to see Banchang is not highlighted in any of the next remaining rounds but if our Passports hadn't been withheld before the last round, and we were able to get to Cow Bay,our mighty Crawlers would have scored more points than any of the 2nd,3rd,4th,8th,9th,10th,12th placed teams for that round. We just might have a say (nuisance value) as to the composition of the final 8, although we won't be there....our recruiting staff will be busy working out how to improve our team for next season. If you're coming up against the Barcrawlers in the remaining rounds, do so at your peril.........

My preview of the inaugural Island Nations Cup clash below: Christmas Island (4th, 44 points) versus Groote Eylandt (9th, 36 points) The Smugglers and Cudas go head to head for the Island Nations Cup this weekend, and in more mundane matters, compete for FU finals positions. Guaranteed a finals berth no matter the result, Christmas Island can finish as high as 2nd and as low as 7th. Groote Eylandt, needing a win to keep their season alive, could jump up to 6th, while a loss could see them finish the seasonin 11th place. Current form: After stringing nine wins together the Smugglers have fallen into a hole at the worst time, losing their last two games. Injuries and absences have contributed but the real reason for these losses has been the insipid performance of the Smuggler's forward line, averaging 58pp in the last 2 games. Previously a strength of Christmas Island, the coach is hoping for a quick turnaround in form this week. The Cudas are one of the form sides of the competition at the moment, winning 4 of their last 5 games, with the sole loss coming to the table-topping Parasites. These wins have been the result of Groote's midfield stars, particularly Cotchin and Gibbs, finally putting in the performances we all know they're capable of. Key players: Both teams are suffering from injuries to key players late in the season. This match could easily be decided by the selection committees. Christmas Island - Kurt Tippett - Has only played 5 games for the Smugglers this season, at an average of 68. Obviously these numbers aren't at a level expected by the coaching staff, but injuries means Kurt will hold his place for the rest of the season. Smugglers' fans will be hoping this is the week that he repays the faith as he can kick big bags when on song. Hamish Hartlett - the most consistently inconsistent midfielder in the Smuggler's lineup with 5 BOG performances and not much else in his 13 games this year. He'll need to put in a strong performance to match the Cuda's midfield stars. Groote Eylandt - Dan Hannebery - A chance to come back this week, YAD will be hoping the young gun gets up as Mzungu's one-weeker is already stretching the midfield thin. The Swans star was starting to hit some form before his injury and adds class to an already classy midfield. Tom Derickx - Another injured Swan, who could return this week, but unfortunately for Groote it's not likely. Although not obvious in the first instance, his inclusion would strengthen the Cuda's lineup more than Hannebery's return, as Groote are struggling for big men, having to play OOP rucks for the last 5 weeks.
