Charlie's Opening 1239 d Nunawading 1180
Charlie's Opening won a crucial match against Nunawading to settle into third on the ORFFA ladder.
Both teams were hit by injury, though Nunawading was more cruelly dealt with - losing Lake and Geary to injury early in the game. The match remained close however, and it wasn't until the final stages that Spelunkers' pair Pearce and MacKenzie scored enough to confirm the win.
For the Spelunkers, Montagna (144) continued his great form, with support from Jack (133), Hansen (117) and Dan Jackson (110). An injury to Thomas Nicholls might see Giles forced into the first ruck position.
For Nunawading, who can consider themselves a bit unlucky, Chris Dawes (123), JPK (130) and Kade Simpson (109) top scored.

Darraweit Guim 1235 d Wagga Wagga 1118
The Blimps returned to the winners list with a hard-fought 117 point win over the Wombats.
Again it was Darraweit's backline that led the way - with Josh Gibson (142) continuing his purple patch of form and snaring five Les W votes. Fellow defenders Andrew Walker (109) and Alex Rance proved able support.
The returning Goddard (122) and Vickery (102) were good, while Tyson (112) provided handy points off the bench. However the Guim forwards have been put on notice after sub-par efforts.
The Marsupials enjoyed a consistent run of scores, led by the wonderful Jay Schulz (108). Dion Prestia (97) played well in the midfield, while Bradley Sheppard (92) enjoyed a career game off the bench. Sam Mayes (86) continues to look the goods.

Lovely Banks 1353 d Powlett Plains 1006
The Purple Petals enjoyed a day to remember, notching a record score on the way to a comfortable win over the Packers.
The Lilacs were in full bloom with young defenders Tom Langdon (128) and Dane Rampe (115) continuing their great form. Rosa, Ballantyne, old man Chappy and Scott Thompson all topped the ton as well.
The only sour note was an injury to ruckman Myke Pike - with Lilacs' coach Jen hopeful the big Canadian can recuperate during the mid-season break.
For the Packers, Tom Lynch continued his eye-catching form with 124 and four votes in the Les W. Taylor Hunt's 83 off the bench was handy, while Matera, Ball, Scully and Stanley all battled hard.



Birdsville 1143 d Mt Beauty 1108
The Battlers battled their way to an important win, finishing over the top of an undermanned Mt Beauty side to win by 35 points.
In what was very much a back and forth game, both teams enjoyed the ascendency at various times across the weekend. The Uglies were hobbled by an injury to Riewoldt and the late withdrawal of Hartlett; allowing Birdsville to swoop late with key scores to Mayne (90) and Clarke (102).
In fact, Clarke and Jetta (114) top-scored for Birdsville from the bench, while Corey Enright was his ever-reliable self (102) in defence. Travis Cloke's 99 was a welcome sight indeed for Birdsville supporters.
For Mt Beauty the magician Cyril top scored with 117, while Matty Boyd notched another ton (109). Martin, Cotchin, Ellis, Bennell and Sidebottom were all consistent without being brilliant, while Kolodjashnij (88) played another good game up back.



Foul Bay 1337 d Gundagai 1234
Gundagai turned in its finest performance for season 2014, stretching the reigning premiers all the way before eventually falling short by 103 points.
The Grasshoppers were up and about early, with Dwyer (112) and Witts (103) turning in great games to establish an early lead. However a telling blow was landed soon after, with veteran Grasshopper Sam Mitchell (9) injured and leaving coach SimonOz wondering what might have been.
Foul Bay were able to take back control, with Roughead (137), Dangerfield (126) and Dahlhaus (124) among the points - although an injury to recruit Matthew Jaensch (38) caused concerns.
Ultimately, despite great late-game scores from Sandi (121) and the impressive Lachie Neale (119), Gundagai fell short.
Rockliff and Talia also scored 100+ points for the Grasshoppers, while Stokes and Bartel topped the century mark for Foul Bay.

Venus Bay 1301 d Larrikin Lagoon 1014
A stunning forward line effort saw Venus Bay power to an impressive win over the Lefties.
The Vulture's forward quartet of Higgins (125), Blair (115), Parker (102) and Howe (100) all went big to overwhelm the Lefties' defence.
Dayne Beams' 125 and Malceski's 112 added to an impressive all-around effort by Venus Bay, who are also set to enjoy a welcome boost in the ruck as recruit Billy Longer moves into take the number one big man spot.
For the Lefties, Reece Conca was superb (119), while Jordan Lewis scored 118. Gus Monfries' return was welcomed (92) and young Nick Robertson chimed in with 87.
However Tom Lynch's early game injury was a double blow - the young forward will be missing for several weeks, and was unable to contribute a single point to the Lefties' total this week.

Cradle Mountain 1303 d Marble Bar 1066
Cradle Mountain enjoyed contributions from all over the park as it stretched its winning streak to four with a win over Marble Bar.
The Devils' midfield has been amongst the points during 2014, with Steve Johnson often leading the way. And while he led his team in scoring again this week (135) he received support from a variety of teammates.
Mark Jamar also scored 135, with he and Trent West now close to the best ruck combo in the ORFFA. Dustin Fletcher wound back the clock and played like a 35 year old (130) while youngster Jay Kennedy-Harris played his best game for the Devils (112).
For the Misfits, Callan Ward again led from the front (145), another five Les W votes seeing him climb further up the leaderboard. Paddy Ryder (106) and Devon Smith (101) also scored well.

Waikikamoocow 1516 d Gariwerd 1259
Waikikamoocow set a club scoring record during a high-scoring match against an improved Gariwerd outfit.
The Incorrigibles only had two players score below 70 in the match, with nine centuries led by Jarrad McVeigh (135) up back and Sauce Jacobs (132) in the ruck. Dan Hannebery and Jamie Elliot continued on their merry way as well.
For the Cockies, 1259 was a seriously impressive score considering they are without a ruckman and were forced to play players OOP.
Jared Polec's 141 underlined his improvement in 2014, with Brodie Smith (138) leading an impressive back four. Adam Cooney and Robbie Gray both scored 121, while Mark Hutchings efforts OOP forward (96/2) were notable.



Iron Knob 1485 d Whitsunday 1205
The ladder leaders continued to show the way, accounting for Whitsunday.
The great man (141) again led the way, consolidating his lead in the Les W as well. Support came from all quarters - Breust (139), Burgoyne (128), Hodge (113) and Goldstein (101) all in fine form.
Adam Goodes' return (82) just adds further depth to the Codpieces' line-up.
The Warriors were led by Grant Birchall (106) up back, with Sloane (104) and Gibson (102) playing well. Warnock scored 99 from the bench, while Aaron Hall (93) continues to impress up forward.
