Too Serious Best and Fairest (conclusion)

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

So, there’s been a grand final, the cats were victorious and now there is just one last prize to hand out for this season.

The Too Serious Best and Fairest.

So let’s stop dilly dallying and get right into the count.

Round 20

Right after this word from our sponsors…

They are Geelong.

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

While they needed to win last year to live up to their Greatest team of all motto, they put in one hell of a performance today.

Such a hard won final in such treacherous conditions!

Congratulations to all the cats fans out there! It was a well deserved win in the harshest of football conditions.

And St Kilda, you fought hard all year. And as Geelong showed from last year. The loss of a grandfinal can certainly spur you on to greater things. So keep your heads up. You put in a ripping year!

(and on a side note- the TS best and fairest is coming up this weekend… just gotta drink a few more beers this evening. :D – Just to give everyone the insider though, Ablett wins the SuperCoach portion of it… ;) )

First piece of big news for 2010.

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Yes, I’m aware of the irony of posting this after bitching about my lack of time to post… but this is too big a news to not try considering the implications of! – Brock McLean is now a Blue

The Melbourne midfielder was traded for the Blues 1st round (#11) draft pick.

The inside mid scored a 102 average back in 2006 but has since fallen away with an 82 average in 07, a 90 average in 08 and this year an average of 80.

Priced at a very tasty $430k, Brock could see his game step up to an elite level. Particularly a midfield of Judd, Gibbs and Murphy working around him.

Sadly though, with such a strong midfield, the question of game-time might come into question. But I can’t imagine Carlton trading their first round draft pick for a player they didn’t plan on playing.

The biggest problem Brock faces is that of Durability, with last year being his equal top output of 19 games. 14 games in 08 and 07, and 16 in 06.

Too Serious Best and Fairest (cont’)

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Sorry guys, I’ve had a nasty case of life getting too busy.

As such, my planned series to review each round before the real brownlow kicked in has been moved to next year… :)

Still, doesn’t mean we can’t run through the results just to see how close we get.

(Plus, there’s still the little matter of $500 to give away)

So without further ado, let’s get this count back on track.

Round 2

The Too Serious Best and Fairest.

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

So, here we are, at fantasy footballs night of night.

The red carpet has been walked, and the WAGs are out in full flight.

The have been some winners, and a heck of a lot of shockers tonight, but there will only be one real winner tonight.

So without further ado, let’s move onto round one.

Round One.

The season opened with two former West Coast champions, battling for their new clubs. But it was Carlton, led by their captain, Chris Judd and a massive effort by Marc Murphy that got Carlton over the line. Meanwhile the grand final rematch turned out to be a ripper with Geelong again failing to convert in front of goal, and Hawthorn making it an eight point ball game.

Just a reminder…

Friday, September 11th, 2009

Yes, we’re still here! :D

And I come baring a gift. (Well, just a little gift. If I had more time, it would be a much more *awesome* gift!)

DT Finals Stats.

Normally my site is coded to ignore finals games, but you can still get there with the above link.

Hopefully it helps you in selecting your team for tonight!

Also.

EPL! It’s back on again this weekend! So if you’ve got a squad (or yanno, THREE OF THEM!) Then get your trades in, your benches worked out and your wildcards finalized!

The TS League is still smashing out miles in front of the competition. So let’s keep it that way guys!! :D

And finally, Drinks on Saturday! Hopefully people can make it! As far as finding the crowd, I probably should have bought myself a TS hat or something so I would be recognized. Ah well, we’ll just have to wing it. I’ve roughly 6 foot, a mop of brown curly hair, rugged good looks, strong muscula… alright, I’ll stop there.

Anyways, I’ll probably be standing around in one of the following yellow circles.

Photobucket

Watching one of the green TV screens. The red TV is only good if you’re interested in grabbing some grub!

Peace guys, and I hope to see you there!

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

So the squad of 40 has been announced, and with it, a new competition sponsered by Four N Twenty.

Four N Twenty All Australian Comp.

Pretty easy comp to get into to with a nice enough prize for the 2 minutes it takes you to enter your team. :)

(Also, you might notice that Fridays game will not be mentioned. :D )

End of year drinks – Saturday, 12th September

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

So, we’ve had interest in running an end of year drinks, so I’m thinking a quietish pub, in the middle of the city (For ease of access), where we should be able to drink a few tasty beverages, talk crap about football, and watch what should be one heck of a game.

So, I’m thinking my favorite pub should do the trick, The Mitre Tavern.

The Mitre Tavern
5 Bank Place
It’s a lane off that runs between Collins and little Collins, between William and Queen.
Or, in google maps: here

I’m thinking the game starts at 7ish, so rocking up around then should do the trick.

Anyways, I’ve no idea how many people will make it, nor can I promise a good time, but I’m sure that the more that show up, the better it will be. Give us all a chance to put faces to names or even meet some of you mightn’t post, but enjoy lurking.
