Round 14 & vs Larrikin Laggon. Same 18 as last week, 222 less points and a heavy loss. I blame anyone other than me. Misfits spoiled for choice this week with 24 of 28 named onfield, on extended benches or as emergencies, only 4 not named in any form, 2 of whom are injured. Over the next 24 hours we will carefully select the wrong 15
5 of the 24 mentioned above ended up starting as emergencies, but the signs are definitely looking up for our long suffering fans. Unfortunately the team as a whole forgot we use SC points to measure impact and score, so this weeks B&F points are being awarded on the basis of how much I enjoyed their game, regardless of any meaningful measure, 2 can play at being forgetful. The Bar are not planning on being overly active in the post season trade period, our only real trade target is to trade 2 players out for picks in the first 2 rounds before the PSD.We need to enter with 24 and have only 2 we feel are delist material. List shape at the moment isn't too bad, but we will be nervously awaiting the outcome of CD's position lottery, like many teams we are a bit short in defence. Happy to discuss any player, though many would take an extraordinary offer to move.
Given he's a teetotaler these days, he's an interesting choice as a #1 ticket holder for the Misfits. With the coach's fondness for a drop, perhaps it's a Yin and Yang thing?
Our biggest issue at this point, and it's not a small one; we can't remember who we gave it to the first time around to get it back.. We can't have two people with the #1 ticket, that would be halving the value and it's already at drachma levels!
We found it! Turned out it was accidentally given away at our very first membership drive by some moron who thought it was ticket in the lucky door prize draw.. Fortunately it was given to an even bigger idiot who has been waiting ever since for his lucky door to arrive. Lucky doors come cheap at the Misfits, 1/2 a bottle of Jack Daniels and we have our ticket back, just in time to get all the fly shit cleaned off it and give to Freddie before he heads back to blighty to spread the Marble Bar gospel..
So, the Misfit's squad for 2016 is thing of beauty, sure to strike fear into the heart of any opponent. Needs some PSD work, but has the bones of a premiership. Defenders Adam "Ironman" Tomlinson (Fwd) Cameron "Cannon Fodder" Shenton Daniel "Thor" Rich (Mid) Elliot "Goblet" Yeo (Mid) Jack "nJill" Hombsch Kristian "Knuckle" Jaksch Marco "Polo" Paparone Rory "Legend" Laird Sam "Uncle" Day (Fwd) Zach "Hot Wheels" Williams Midfielders Callan "Cement" Ward Connor "John" Blakely Daniel "Thor" Rich (Back) Elliot "Goblet" Yeo (Back) Jake "Peg" Barrett Josh "Silk" Kelly (Fwd) Lachie "Fully Sick" Weller Lachie "Anyhow" Whitfield Luke "Pacman" Dunstan Mark "Coyote" Whiley Maverick "Goose" Weller (Fwd) Forwards Maverick "Goose" Weller (Mid) Adam "Ironman" Tomlinson (Back) Caleb "Stilts" Daniel Devon "Jones" Smith Josh "Baker" Bruce Patrick "Boundary" Ryder (Ruck) Riley "Rider" Knight Robin "Pow" Nahas Sam "Uncle" Day (Back) Will "Grease" Hoskin-Elliot Rucks Andrew "Captain" Phillips Patrick "Boundary" Ryder (Fwd)
The Misfit management are hard at work trying to find a replacement for Paddy Ryder. One of only 2 original Misfits still on the list Paddy fell foul of the Hird in 2012 and is officially knobbled for this year. Unfortunately our only other ruck is a very promising type but lacks any guarantee of game time, looking to the NAB Cup to see what Bolton does with his 100 rucks. We are also looking at improving our draft position and ideally but less importantly strengthening the forwards. Trading opens 1st Feb, we'll be there
24 hours to go on our auction and it looks like the Misfit's might have arguably the leagues best backline in 2016, unfortunately that would mean we also would still have no playing ruck and a very dysfunctional forward line
Some list moves had been made, we have farewelled Elliot Yeo and PSD pick 28, securing picks 12 and 18. Pick 18 was then used to secure Jamie Elliot, along with downgrading our pick 39 to 50. We now have picks 12, 21, 50, 57 and possibly 75 active for the 2016 PSD. The squad looks like this; Defence Rory Laird, Marco Paparone, Zac Williams, Jack Hombsch, Sam Day (F), Adam Tomlinson (F), Kristian Jaksch, Cameron Shenton Midfield Callan Ward, Lachie Whitfield, Daniel Rich (D), Josh Kelly. Luke Dunstan, Lachie Weller, Connor Blakely, Mark Whiley, Jake Barrett Fwds Devon Smith, Jamie Elliott, Maverick Weller, Josh Bruce, Caleb Daniel, Riley Knight, Will Hoskin-Elliot, Robin Nahas Rucks Andrew Phillips, (Patrick Ryder - ineligible 2016) Not scary good, but taking shape.
In addition to the changes shown in the previous post the Misfits have bid a sad farewell to Mark Whiley, whilst Mark is a genuine future prospect and someone we would have loved to hold the Misfit's have simply run out of room, one had to go and he had a buyer. We now have active picks 12, 21, 34 and 50 for the upcoming PSD, any further list management prior to the draft will be unplanned and possibly whiskey driven.
Pick 21 has now left for the ebbing shores of Larrikin Lagoon. Joe Daniher is now a proud Misfit. Whiskey, you bitch..
