Very nearly took Bennell with my last pick and was looking at O'Meara a little later on, big risk but bigger potential rewards in both.
With my last pick, at 34, I was choosing out of Pat Cripps, Brad Crouch, Dion Prestia, and Brandon Ellis... All of them have been snapped up now, however it took 15 more picks for Crouch. Its been really interesting to see how everyone has been prioritising positions, with some of these mids falling lower than I thought they would.
I took Cripps last pick even though Bennell, Sidebottom, Prestia were all still available. It's fascinating deciding between a 25 year old who will average 100-110 or a 20 year old who will average 90-100 but may get better, and will be around for 10 years...
Agreed. Maybe we should also start an ORFFS (s for short) and redraft every year.... that would be a great read to compare a keeper draft with a season-league
I headed out to lunch and now come back a to bunch of picks and myself 2nd in line with my shortlist in tatters with Priddis and Shaw now taken so for those after me in the order just a heads up that I wont be picking until quite late tonight
Clever....... "Breaking news" Brownlow medalist Matt Priddis has refused all other offers to join the Useless Loop Virgins. A massive groan could be heard country wide as thousands of fans awoke to the news the super star would not be part of their team. Reporter Clark Kent asks *Matt what it is like to become a Virgin" Matt Priddis "It is a honor and a privilege to join a club with such a great culture mark my words the Virgins will be on top in the not too distant future"
As a note for every one going forward and not intending to use the quoted post as anything but a reminder trigger, it's ideal to pair up with another coach nowhere near your pick, (or someone ex the draft who will be on and around) to be your draft wingman. Then if you need to be absent when you have an imminent (or eminent depending on quality) pick coming up, and it's possible to do so you give them a shortlist of one two or thee names for your pick, no holdups no delays and the draft flows like Old No7 on a Friday night. I 100% get it's not always possible and by preference potentially not desirable this early in the draft, just a suggestion to keep us moving as we go on down the road. While I'm on lubing the draft wheels, I have a list of email addresses, but not who belongs to which one, if you don't have the watch thread emails going and would like to be pinged by email or sms PM me with the relevant detail.
Was looking at Shaw too, I have Houli in the other ORFF comp he's a bit of a coaches pet so I may have favoured him, but you did me a favour removing him from the equation
given his durability and the consistency of his scores over the past 5 years he really should have been early 3rd round at the latest, I reckon injuries aside it will be a rare week when that midfield of your doesn't score 420 plus, although they will need to if you don't start picking players in other positions !
@Len again another player who slid a heap, I had him clear number 1 on my defender watchlist until you nabbed him, the rest of us will have to hope that 2015 was a one off spike year Is there any truth to the rumour the Avengers may have to relocate to Western Sydney the way they are acquiring players (and former players) from GWS - Treloar, Ward and Shaw - only Gaff an exception so far ??
lol, the trend hasn't escaped me either! The plan is to diversify, the outcome relies upon resolution
