Full time at Groper Park sees @martyg 's visiting Bunyips take the points 1296/15/86.4 to the Sandgropers 1173/15/78.2. There were some decent performances from the home team with Duncan's 126 leading all scorers and Roughead taking the points in the big tap. An OOP WH-E in defence and the late withdrawal of Brouch didn't help the Sandgropers' cause but all credit must go to Blanchetown who won out with the greater consistency on the day.

With no end in sight to the thrashings being handed out to Cow Bay, round 3 @ The Lagoon saw the Crocs go down by 576 points to the Parasites.

Still 4 players down, the Crocs stumbled to 711 for some slurpees...after posting a team score of 711. Usual suspects Martin (90), De Goey (89), Lonergan (75) and Gunston (69) led the way for the young brigade but were severely let down by Jones (23) and Jerrett (16). In what was always going to be a challenging year, the depth of the doldrums the team has fallen into has taken the coach by surprise.

The Parasites were led ably by former Croc GAJ (135) who ran amok in the midfield along with Goddard (125) and new recruits Gaff (85) and Newnes (111). 3rd round PSD pick Gilbert showed why he should've been taken earlier in the draft and led the defensive brigade. Hogan (who the Crocs offered pick 2 for a couple years back) led the forwards with 116 points and Barlow (99) repaid the faith for those who hold onto him in their SC teams.

The win sees the Parasites climb to 12th. With a healthy percentage of 115% Pakenham will be eyeing off a move into the top 8 over the next couple of weeks. Cow Bay however will set the countdown clock to the MSD and look forward to kicking off another draft in 10 weeks time.

Thanks fresh, great summary mate. Hopefully the crocs can get a few players on the park soon. Be nice to see them up and about.
I thought I had list problems mate. Good luck mate

Haha former croc GAJ....did he even pull on the training jumper for the crocs? From memory it was a short stay at Cow Bay. Haha offered pick 2 for Hogan...who did you end up with from pick 2? Could have been a win win maybe

The list manager at Pakenham is under severe scrutiny at the moment....looking back at all the positive and negative deals we have done along the way haven't really got us to where we would like.....His contract is up at seasons end and without much future on our list, I doubt he will be getting resigned! We are hoping to poach either King islands list manager or Pearcedales.....we have wads of cash and hope we can pry them away from there positions.

Thanks @ddsaints , fingers crossed the turnaround happens sooner rather than later.

It was a very short stay at Cow Bay...his defensive effort wasn't up to scratch so got his marching orders after a couple of weeks.

Hogan would've been another player to give Cow Bay some hope had he switched jumpers. Young Boyd ended up agreeing to crossing the border and heading north to Cow Bay in the end. Needless to say he's been underwhelming thus far. Luckily we're not paying the full $1mill salary this year, @HOLKY's agreed to stump up part of the cash this year as part of the trade deal :p

After a few days soul searching the Bulls coach has come out of hiding and is willing to front the media with a match report from the weekend.

King Island dominated the match running out impressive 317 point winners 1512 to 1195. The Monarchs defence didn't allow the Bulls forwards an inch and amassed 472 points surely and FU backline record. Houli, Rance, Broadbent, Bartel, Priddis NicNat, JJK, Betts and Zaharakis all tonned up for the Monarchs. For the Bulls Hall continues to be a shining light top scoring again with 134 whilst Tom Lynch again put his stamp on the match with 112. Ibbotson owed the team one after his miserable 23 last week and come good with 112. 112 would have got us over the line last week!

Moving on the Bulls need to regroup in a massive game against the undefeated Barcrawlers in a must win game. For the Monarchs they return home to take on the Sandgropers and will start odds on favourites.

Cheers Tyze. Good to get 1 back on the old enemy. The Bulls usually match up pretty well against us but Rockliff is often the one doing the damage so his absence was handy. Apologies for my lack of activity first few weeks, real life stresses and all. Will be back into it more now.

I'm back, but based on how the Grenades have been going I should go away again and never look at that team again

The Vikings hosted the Prospectors and it was not a good start for the visiting team with Griffen and Pederson both missing there flight.

The tussle between the two teams was an arm wrestle starting in the rucks Martin 99 just edged out Grundy 96. Vikings midfield lead by Sheuy 119 Hanley 114 and Mitchell 108 won the ball out of the centre, Prospectors JP Kennedy 124 was there only midfielder to crack the ton.

An even contest in the back line Biggs 77 leading the way, but the visitors Jonas 91 and surprise packet Fantasia 87 running the ball out of defense showing how its done.

Another tight contest forward of centre Robinson 120 released from his tagging duties where he was ineffective last game, Mclean 81 proving he should stay in the starting line up. Prospectors would be delight in Wright 103 showing he still has what it takes to play in the big time, but being a player down there was no chance of a win.

Big mummy 117 playing from the interchange all on his lonesome almost nullified the Vikings who had two players double teaming him.

Vikings Win continuing a great start to there season only one concern Roberton injured out for 3-4 weeks.

    3. JP Kennedy 124
    2. Robinson 120
    1. Sheuy 119

Round 3 review – Southern Cross Sandgropers 1174 defeated by Blanchetown Bunyips 1296

In a game the home fans were hoping would be a tight contest the visiting bunyips burst out of the blocks with the Sandgropers never able to recover.

It was a decent battle in the middle of the ground with Ryder’s understudy Roughead (98) taking the points in the Giant Tap from previous winner Sauce Jacobs (95) by a measly 3 points. The midfields were evenly matched with both sides having some lesser performances with some decent numbers coming from opposing guns R.Gray (123) & N.Fyfe (115). For the visitors Pendles (102) as usual tonned whereas Mitchell (97) had a relatively quiet day by his standards. The home side’s mids worked hard to stay in the contest with new recruit Wallis (97) matching Mitchell but Prestia (68) & Hunter (66) failed to maintain the rage as the game started to slip away.

The Bunyips defenders matched the Sandgropers forwards in what was a close contest. Langdon (124) of the Collingwood variety played well against a rejuvenated Sandgropers attack where Darling (105) put in his best performance of the year. Laird (90) had Rioli Covered (87) whereas Stringer (76) & Vandenberg (55) accounted for Thompson (70) & Brown (51). At the other end of the ground the story was very similar; Day (96) continued his breakout season easily accounting for Mayne (82) but OOP Hoskin-Elliott (15) struggled to contain the poor Boekhorst (35).

Even though Duncan (126) managed to front up after being assaulted by Mummy last week to split the points with Ziebell (124), debutant Milera (39) wasn’t able to back up last week’s performance and Sheridan (77) closed out the match.

@martyg 's Bunyips showed their pedigree and with a few players off the pace they still came away with a solid 122 point win. Next up they host the reigning premiers in what should be one of the matches of the round. The Sandgropers on the other hand have little time to lick their wounds as they face the long road trip to King Island to meet the team that, barring injuries, should be the clear flag favourite. With little respite on the injury front, Brouch out for another 2, Southern Cross will be hoping for a better performance from the midfield & defensive groups just to stay competitive.

    BAFFU
    5 – M.Duncan
    4 – J.Ziebell
    3 – T.Langdon
    2 – R.Gray
    1 – N.Fyfe

    Giant Tap
    J.Roughead

Groote Eylandt Barracudas 1,248 def Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1,199

A great game at Barra Park with the home team and reigning premier coming out on top.

It was a tight contest early until a clash of bodies saw the monolith Sandilands (27) leave the ground early in the second quarter with broken ribs and a punctured lung. This gave the Barracudas an easier ride in ruck and the on-ballers received plenty of the ball with Cotchin (129), Hannebery (125) Burgoyne (121) and Zorko (111) unstoppable. Outstanding performance from the 18 year old Weitering (129) in defence saw them hold Hughenden’s forwards to a modest total.

The biggest concern for the Barracudas is the injury to Murphy (95) in the last minute of the game. It appears he has suffered a season ending ACL injury. Luckily for the Barracudas their recruiting in the off season should see them easily cover the loss of Murphy with Sutcliffe (106) having an outstanding game in the reserves.

Hughenden will have a lot of work to do now with just 1 win, no ruckman for the next 6 to 8 weeks, making the 8 is going to be challenge.

    BAFFU Awards
    3 - Cotchin (129)
    2 - Weitering (129)
    1 - Hannebery (125)

UPDATE: RD4 Banchang vs Staghorn Flats.

It's Songkran here in Thailand (13th-17th April) and the local Thesaban Mueang has commandeered The Stadium for the Town's New Year Festivities.
As such our ORFFU game against The Staghorn Flat Bulls has been re-located to the newly developed footy oval on the banks of Lake Dok Krai about a 45 minute drive from Banchang.
We have been working tirelessly over the past few days to have sufficient tuk-tuks available to meet The Bulls, when they arrive at the neighbouring U-Tapao International Airport in Sattahip and transport them to their accommodation at Rayong Country Club and Resort, only a stone's throw from the footy oval, which was once an overgrown cassava field and now is ready for it's first game, albeit with a slight slope towards the "Lake End"
As is the norm for this time of the year, the temperature should be about 34C at kickoff and cool off towards nightfall to about 29C.
The Barcrawlers who train here, are used to the conditions and hope to gain an advantage over the visitors from Victoria.

The selection committee meet today after training and will name the team for this game.

We say "yin dee ton rab khap" to the Bulls and let the game begin.................

Half time at Dok Krai Footy park sees a close game between the Barcrawlers 8/748 and The Staghorn Flats Bulls 8/715.
"Songkran Sickness" has taken quite a hold on the local team and 5 players have succumbed to the illness and will take no further part in the game, leaving The Barcrawlers with only 13 on the field, and no emergencies.
The visiting Bulls have been well served by 3 tonners, Hall, Lynch both 114 and Bastinac 106 while Banchang are holding their own til 1/2 time with Suckling 122, Montagna 110, Docherty 104 and Selwood 100, all performing well.
But with only 5 players left to The Bulls 7, it would be a miracle for The Barcrawlers to get out of this one and finish 4-0 for the first time in their short history.

At Eden, the Grenades have come out and used almost everything they have got, with 931/13/71.62, a score that is not up to standard with the rest of the competition. The Whalers have chosen the opposite tactic, with lots left in the tank at 590/8/73.75. The question is whether points on the board will get the Grenades done for their first win, or the more likely result that the Whalers will overrun their score throughout the closing stages.

    Score update from Pakenham.
    Parasites 934 from 10. Blowflys 643 from 8
It's all set up for a great finish, could go either way. The blowflys have been crueled with a donut losing Enright before the ball was even bounced which could eventually cost coach Mick, a selection choice I think he would be punching himself over.

Despite the loss of Matt Priddis, the Monarchs (14/1320) are well in control late in the match against the visiting Sandgropers (13/983). For the home side, Rance has dominated across the backline, Betts has been on fire and the unwanted player of the pre-season Zaharakis continues to rack up possessions off the bench. The emerging Lachie Hunter has been a bright light for the visitors, making the most of the opportunity in the midfield, while Taylor and Darling have battled hard.
