Over in Viking land their struggling to give coach @bryzza his wedding gift of win on home soil with 557/7 79.5 and the visitors on 955/11 86.8. There's still plenty of game left so watch this space.
Another update from Gisborne, and it's not pretty. Gisborne sit on 713/10/71.3 trailing the @fresh Crocs 921/11/83.7. The Crocs appear on track for their first win, with a combination of terrible scores from the Grenades and some amazing scores from Cow Bay, led by Jeremy Cameron's 143 and Jacob Hopper's 106 on debut, pulling the Crocs towards the line. Also, how about that match last night? I was impartial all night, but somehow found myself barracking for Richmond in the last minutes. I would've hated to be Jake Lloyd
Don't worry Tyze, this is probably a new variation of the Smugglers' ability to lose in unbelievable ways to the Bulls - look certain to come home over the top of Staghorn, but have 2 late outs to lose by 15.
Tiges fan who has no time for Sydney, so I'm certainly not impartial, but was very happy for once this season.
Nearly 3 quarter time at Eden Sporting Complex and Ararat lead 7/590 (82.3) to 11/856 (77.8). Treloar will most likely get the 3 for his 169, Leuenberger scoring 58 is unlikely to beat Hale's record of 4 wins this week and Ben Griffiths has top-scored with 136 for the reserves team named the Eden Marines (named after the local high school) and earned a place on the senior list next week... Williams has set a target of 110 for Tom McDonald to beat (inside joke which I will explain later) while Tom Scully has excelled again with 121.
And as a Lions fan who tipped Sydney, my tipping has once again been defenestrated... (got the others right so far though so 4/6 is alright)
It's almost game over at Groper Park with @TigersTooTough 's visiting Panthers (10/967/96.7) showing the Sandgropers (7/470/67.1) how it's done. With 5 tons already (Shaw 143, Howe 135, Ellis 118, Gibson 118 & Mundy 115) it would take either a major catastrophe by the visitors or a miraculous turn around in form for the Sandgropers to see the home team take the 4 points.
Not much more to report from Gisborne late in the match, @fresh 's Crocs still leading the Grenades 1049/13/80.69 to 778/12/64.83. However, a very interesting Big Tap result has occurred. Jonathon Ceglar has won it with only 39 points, but even stranger he has won it by 38 points! Levi Casboult could only match 2 points in an obviously injury curtailed game, but an achievement nonetheless for Ceglar.
All over at Groper Park with @TigersTooTough 's visiting Panthers (15/1295/86.3) taking the choccies against the Sandgropers (15/1106/73.7). 6 tons to 3 pretty much tells the story of the match and in good news for Southern Cross Jordan Roughead took out the big tap against Membrey with a score of 44 to 12. I highly rate the list at Pearcedale and if they can secure a full time ruck during the Mid Season trade period they could go deep into the finals.
After @Batfink 's visiting Prairie Dogs got out to a strong lead late in the third, the Monarchs have charged home to score an unconvincing win. Report to follow. Monarchs 1250 Prairie Dogs 1158
The Bulls ability to play teams in to form continued this week as the Smugglers blew the Bulls away for 296 points 1444 - 1150! The Smugglers had been languishing at 1 and 6 put together an almighty display clocking up a lazy 1444 to remind the competition that on their day can knock anyone off. I don't want to miss anyone but only one Smuggler disappointed in J Harbrow, even the footballers equivalent of the arse end of the world Jesse White joined the party with 88. At the top end the Smugglers had 7 players score 100's including a clean sweep up forward whilst the Bulls had a respectable 6, however 6 scores under 54 killed any chance that the Bulls had of being competitive in this match. The Bulls now have conceded 10263 points by far the worst of the FU and it won't get any easier as we clash against the undefeated Dillos this week. For the Smugglers they back this win up with a clash against the Sandgropers.
Cheers Tyze, good to see the Smugglers finally hit some form, just a shame for the Bulls it had to happen this week. Hopefully this marks a turnaround in our season - as noted in last week's review of the loss to the Whalers, there's talent at CIFC, unfortunately they've just been playing like busteds.
Pakenham fronted up to Banchang with 14 1/2 players and 2 emergencies to face the locals who could only find 13 players willing to don the guernsey. Times are tough. In a spirited display, those 13 warriors played above themselves and recorded a score of 1149 (88.38av), but it wasn't enough to finish on top of the lads from Pakky who got the chocolates and the 4 points with a score of 1168 (80.55av), to move them up to 4th on the table at 6-2, while The Barcrawlers drop down to 8th at 5-3 Banchang had 6 players ton up ( Docherty 147,Gibson with 132, his best game ever for The Barcrawlers, Adams111, Montagna110, Cooney102, and Walters 101), while Tuohy went close with 97. The Parasites were well served by Sidebottom126, Simpson125, Goddard109, Buddy101, and GAJ 99. Sinclair 59 had a win over Moore(oop) 30 in The Big Tap. Next week sees The Parasites at home to 16th placed Gisborne, while The Barcrawlers will endeavour to have 15 players travel to Hughenden to take on the 11th placed Prairie Dogs.
Final Score at the Eden Sporting Complex and Ararat have won 1335 to 1222, we once again got a good score but not a winning score. Treloar gets BOG with 169 and Gibbs 147 also went well. Tom McDonald scored well with 99 and with a couple of years more development he might be on the same level as Zac Williams ... once again our top scorer was in the reserves (sporadic forwards) and Leuenberger earns a 5th win which is the new club record and proves he can beat anyone when it's his week (or their off week). Midfield performed well too with 3 120+ scores. Strangely optimistic despite losing, so we'll see what next week brings. Eden Whalers 1222 Def: Williams 110, Wood 58, Malceski 53, Smith 43 (McStay) Mid: Murphy 92, Jones 87, Scully 121, Miles 120 Ruck: Leuenberger 58 Fwd: Boomer 96, Brown 36, Lynch 74, Jenkins 74 (Griffiths) IC: Curnow 129, Fasolo 71, (Crisp) Ararat Armadillos 1335 T. @YAD69 Thanks for the updates over the weekend. The back line for both teams were underwhelming Rampe 89 top scored followed by Frawley 85 then it was daylight to the rest all scores 70 and below. Grundy 114 his 2nd ton of the season took out a struggling Nicholls 63 but credit to him to was his 1st game back after a 3 week lay off. It's said games are won and lost in the middle and boy was it true for the Barracudas, 5 out of 6 midfielders tonned it up Hanners 138 BOOM surprise packet of the year Guthrie 138 Boom Lewis 122 BOOM finally struck some form, final nail in the coffin for Vikings Cripps 115 BOOM and the Bont 112 BOOM sealed the deal. Honorable mentions for Vikings Viney 116 continued his break out year Picken 110 decided he still can play with his 1st ton for the year Sheuy 108 and breakout candidate Ross 102 chimed in. Reading this you'd think scores would have been closer but Hanley 56 POO Mitchell 71 SHITE sunk the ship. Down in the forward line Magic Man Zorko 130 lead the way and Heeney 96 starting to find some consistency. Vickery 33 should think about quitting football. 3 Hannerbery 138 3 Guthrie 138 1 Lewis 122 Well done Barracudas taking out the win. Vikings now find themselves in a familiar position outside the eight and could be looking to the MSD to plug some gapping holes to take the next step. On the road next week to the much improved Crocs
Mick, Sorry for the lack of updates over the weekend and poor report. Real life smashed me on the weekend and now work is giving me a touch up. We both had under-performing teams with the homeside just getting over the line 1036-1023. With my Favourite player (Sloane) playing for the opposition it was hard to continually cheer for him on Friday night, but I still did nonetheless! BOG - Pendles (BBU) Sloane (KB) Motlop (KB) Thanks for the close game, we both copped a few donuts hence the low scores. Good luck for the rest of the season!
