A bittersweet victory this week, whilst we beat the Butchers handily they didn't even have the decency to name Hopper, who equalled the record for possessions on debut and beat it for contested possessions, always good to have a trade target.. Round 8 B&F votes; 5 Treloar - 169 "bang bang I shot you down" 4 Shaw - Second 143 in 2 weeks 3 Curnow - Becoming a locked in first team Avenger 2 Hunter - See above 1 Tippett - Welcome back cotter Tally 20 Ward 18 Treloar 14 Shaw 12 Boyd 10 Betts, Hunter 9 Gaff 7 Curnow 6 Thompson, Thomas 4 Ibbotson 3 Murphy, Martin, Tippett 1 Sheridan This week we visit the Chinchilla Chumps who pose a serious threat to our recent run of wins, tactics are being discussed to affect an effective knobble..
I don't think you need to spend much time on tactics, Len, if this lot aren't right to go this week. They all missed the round just gone, thru injury. Adams, McGrath, JPK, Griffen, Stevens, Townsend, Currie, Phillips, Boekhorst, Sexton, Higgins. I'm hoping to get a couple back to at least make things interesting, but probably only JPK, Stevens at this stage, but who knows.
Avengers have been injury blessed tbh with no best 15 player out, experience with the Misfit's allows me plenty of empathy
Lucky to beat a seriously strong Chumps team, who despite being well belted with injury still pulled out a 1357. Heath Shaw's boot is now on display in the club museum (my office). Round 9 B&F votes; 5 Shaw - apparently 143 is for mortals, a lazy 203 4 Tippett - Had a really strong month, this week his best with 141 3 Ward - Boss dude 2 Treloar - Damn that's a shit jumper, good player though 1 Williams - Coaches pet, trade proposals on auto reject, will probably get cheap votes -4 Ibbotson - All patience gone, maybe one day Lyon will coach a defence to attack, unlikely though.. Tally 23 Ward 20 Treloar 19 Shaw 12 Boyd 10 Betts, Hunter 9 Gaff 7 Curnow, Tippett 6 Thompson, Thomas 3 Murphy, Martin 1 Sheridan, Williams 0 Ibbotson This week we host Mole Creek, we like moles, should be fun. A game we should be expected to win, but these are often the most dangerous, hopefully no Avenger is drinking his own bathwater, or Black Widow's.
The Avengers post their season low score, heads will roll, Moles won, not always a bad thing, but not awesome when you paid Round 10 B&F votes; 5 Curnow - Unexpected but welcome score 4 Betts - We like him, even when playing the giants, and not in a Dawson kind of way 3 Treloar - Battling manfully in a shite team 2 Hunter - The kid can play 1 Boyd - Dogs have 2, we have the right one Tally 23 Ward, Treloar 19 Shaw 14 Betts 13 Boyd 12 Curnow, Hunter 9 Gaff 7 Tippett 6 Thompson, Thomas 3 Murphy, Martin 1 Sheridan, Williams -10 Ibbotson Next weeks game vs the Noahs looks to be a blockbuster (are they still in business??) Given they outscored us by 300 last week we feel we are almost certain to benefit from them drinking their own bathwater
The Avengers bounced back to deny the previously unbeaten Noahs an 11th straight win Round 11 B&F votes; 5 Curnow - Two weeks in a row 4 Boyd - Dog's day out 3 Ward - Responded well to Treloar's challenge 2 Hunter - Well named 2 Shaw - I don't care how cheap the posessions are, keep racking them up! 1 Tippett - Great game, play shit next week though bud -1 Thompson - AWOL (Really should apply to Thomas too but feeling generous) Tally 26 Ward 23 Treloar 21 Shaw 17 Curnow, Boyd 14 Betts, Hunter 9 Gaff 8 Tippett 6 Thomas 5 Thompson 3 Murphy, Martin 1 Sheridan, Williams -10 Ibbotson Next week we are vulnerable, visiting our spiritual home Mt Thirsty is going to make staying on point a challenge for a team led and fuelled by Booze. Plans are afoot though to knobble Rocky, and we are becoming very good at the knobble...
The Avengers took the points in a very close match against the Boozers, boozing now commenced. Round 12 B&F votes; 6 Hampson - Bonus point for being unexpectedly awesome 4 Shaw - A rock down back 3 Ward - Only because the other 2 players that scored above him (Thomas & Weller) did so from the bench 2 Thompson - On the trade table, but not through lack of scores, just team balance 1 Curnow - continues to surpass pre-season expectations Tally 29 Ward 25 Shaw 23 Treloar 18 Curnow 17 Boyd 14 Betts, Hunter 9 Gaff 8 Tippett 7 Thompson 6 Thomas, Hampson 3 Murphy, Martin 1 Sheridan, Williams -10 Ibbotson
The Avengers played away to the Atoms who appear to be suffering radiation poisoning with only 12 men playing. They say you can only beat the opposition put in front of you, so we did, albeit with a bunch of underwhelming scores. Round 13 B&F votes; 5 Martin - Well done lad, now start doing a Bradman with the tons 4 Boyd - Seriously hope he plays on next year 3 Gaff - Welcome back Coaster 2 Mills - Named as a FF emergency, but new rule says he is vote eligible 1 Matera - Also only named on the FF bench, but see above Tally 29 Ward 25 Shaw 23 Treloar 21 Boyd 18 Curnow 14 Betts, Hunter 12 Gaff 8 Tippett, Martin 7 Thompson 6 Thomas, Hampson 3 Murphy 2 Mills 1 Sheridan, Williams, Matera -20 Ibbotson - Enjoy life in the twos spuddy
The Avengers hosted the Shags and were lucky to escape with the win given the underwhelming scores from some of our star players. A win next week is critical for our top 4 hopes, but depends on other results going to average regardless. The 4 losses to start the season are telling. (The person responsible for selecting Ibbotson this week has been shot) Round 14 B&F votes; 5 Ward - Bang goes the captain 4 Gaff - No jokes here 3 Treloar - Needs more epic 2 Hampson - Tell Megan we said hi 1 Williams - Zachary the Great Tally 34 Ward 26 Treloar 25 Shaw 21 Boyd 18 Curnow 16 Gaff 14 Betts, Hunter 8 Tippett, Martin, Hampson 7 Thompson 6 Thomas 3 Murphy 2 Mills, Williams 1 Sheridan, Matera
The Avengers had a chance to break into the top 4 this week, the other teams did their bit, but we couldn't, spuds aplenty ensured the Pointers beat us comfortably. Will be a very short finals series for us if only two manage to ton up again.. Round 15 B&F votes; 5 Curnow - Relying on Carlton to lead the way may not be an ideal strategy 4 Treloar - Not yet Eddyfied 3 Gaff - Four good weeks in a row 3 Hunter - Good will abounding 2 Ward - Had a huge day, shame they don't award SC points for leadership 1 Hampson - Legitimate surprise source of vital points for the Avengers this year Tally 36 Ward 30 Treloar 25 Shaw 23 Curnow 21 Boyd 19 Gaff 17 Hunter 14 Betts 9 Hampson 8 Tippett, Martin 7 Thompson 6 Thomas 3 Murphy 2 Mills, Williams 1 Sheridan, Matera
hey @Len, any truth to the rumour your players aren't afraid to give the umpires a spray, it might explain why your best 3 players only managed 12th, 24th, and 30th in the ORFFF Brownlow and why Treloar missed the top 50 ? http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagues.php?leagueId=14&brownlowLimit=all thanks to @walesy for the link !
Week 1 of finals and the Avengers managed a win over Mole Creek, this week we host Chinchilla in what promises to be another challenging game. Finals week 1 B&F votes; 5 Betts - 139 will get you a game next week 4 Shaw - Hopefully a return to form and not a flash in the pan 3 Treloar - Love him, hate the jumper 2 Ward - Probably enough to lock in an inaugural win 1 Gaff - Good on his day, this was one of them Tally 38 Ward 33 Treloar 29 Shaw 23 Curnow 21 Boyd 20 Gaff 19 Betts 17 Hunter 9 Hampson 8 Tippett, Martin 7 Thompson 6 Thomas 3 Murphy 2 Mills, Williams 1 Sheridan, Matera
mate the fixture says the game is at Chinchilla, a forfeit by your blokes would be a poor way to bow out unless the idea is to guarantee that Ward wins the B&F
Week 2 of finals and the Avengers bowed out to a better team. Finals week 2 B&F votes; 5 Boyd 4 Treloar, Mayne 2 Hunter 1 Ward Final Tally 39 Ward 37 Treloar 29 Shaw 26 Boyd 23 Curnow 20 Gaff 19 Betts, Hunter 9 Hampson 8 Tippett, Martin 7 Thompson 6 Thomas 4 Mayne 3 Murphy 2 Mills, Williams 1 Sheridan, Matera Ward wins the inaugural Avengers B&F by 2 points from Treloar. Excitement abounds
Round 1 of 2017 and we have one more win than we did this time last year! B&F Votes 5 Murphy (138) 4 Shaw (118) 3 Steele (113) 2 Kelly (105) 1 Treloar (96) Not a lot of high scores but a reasonably even contribution across the park, need to find 150 odd to be a chance of winning R2
Round 2, shit happened B&F Votes R2 5 Murphy (130) 4 Kelly (120) 3 Treloar (108) 2 Ward (106) 1 Williams (84) -5 Shaw Cumulative 10 Murphy 6 Kelly 4 Treloar 3 Steele 2 Ward 1 Williams -1 Shaw Looking at a couple of weeks at least without a ruck, will have to see how @3n4nsy managed it or the ladder slide will be inevitable.
Round 3, 1360 not awful with an OOP ruck B&F Votes R3 5 Murphy (158) 4 Martin (133) 3 Ed Curnow (117) 2 Kelly (110) 1 Williams (109) Cumulative 15 Murphy 8 Kelly 4 Treloar, Martin 3 Steele, E Curnow 2 Ward, Williams -1 Shaw
Round 4, we found awful, 1164 was just enough to make it look like we didn't forfeit to Drouin who are on a roll. B&F Votes R4 5 Murphy (123) 4 Martin (110) 3 Steele(93) 2 Kelly (92) 1 Williams (90) B&F Votes R5 5 Treloar (141) 4 Ward (100) 3 Kelly & Willimas (96) 1 Acres (94) Cumulative 20 Murphy 13 Kelly 9 Treloar 8 Martin 6 Steele, Ward, Williams 3 E Curnow 1 Acres -1 Shaw 2 Centurions per round, this side is a shadow of it's former self, oddly though despite being 2-3 after five we are better placed than last year on the ladder, points for though is foul....
Round 6, 1180 with Tippett a late out, dude needs to learn to schedule his pedicures to not clash with FA matches... B&F Votes R6 5 Williams (120) 4 Steele (116) 3 Shaw (111) 2 Curnow (103) 1 Kelly (93) Cumulative 20 Murphy 14 Kelly 11 Williams 10 Steele 9 Treloar 8 Martin 6 Ward 5 Curnow 2 Shaw 1 Acres
