An update from the late starting match at Flying Fish Cove Park where the Smugglers lead the Parasites 1148 to 838. The final term sees Christmas Island's Dom Tyson and 310 points attempting to hold off Pakenham's Sidebum, Bugg and Hogan. CIFC are in the driver's seat as they look to continue their good record against the bugs, but no chickens are being counted yet, but plenty of cliches are being mangled.
@martyg Last round before the byes could not have come soon enough for the Vikings as the team produced there 1st donuts for the season. Mcleans injury last week showed up what was sufficient depth at the start of the season to now a hindrance. Playing the mighty Bunyips even if I had cover would not of helped the coarse as the lose was just over 200 points. Team sheets showed this could have been an even contest, starting rucks Grundy 88 22 hit outs just edged out Jacobs 81 36 hit outs. Bunyips star studded midfield lead by rolls royce Pendelbury 122 18 contested Gray 113 20 contested 8 clearances and the return of Ziebell 99 has stuck it up to his old team all year. oh why did we trade him.......Crouch 103 18 hand balls backed it from last week proving he deserves a place in the starting team. Laird 112 second game back from his broken toe leading the way for the Bunyips running the ball out of defense, little opposition from Vikings with only Birchall 92 posting a decent score. Bunyips forward line blew the game open Lions Mayne 112 4 goals Ballsy 118 4 goals ran riot, for Vikings Petracca 89 20 disposals 10 contested is showing signs that he belongs with some consistent scoring. In the end Bunyips 1375 too good Vikings 1168
Out at The Lagoon the Armadillos silenced the home crowd with a lazy 373 point win over the Crocs. The best ruckman in the league had a field day against a disappointing Lycett, winning the Big Tap 119 to 38 and gave the Armadillos first use of the ball throughout the day. Steven (164) and Vince (145) strolled around the ground gathering touches at will and Smith (76) and Treloar (73) gave average efforts simply because they didn't need to get out of 2nd gear. Former Croc Rich (96) was best down back and was ably supported by TMac (92) and LMac (75). The reincarnated Wells (126) enjoyed playing up forward against a hapless Cow Bay defense and Edwards (84) and Wingard (83) more than did their part. But Dahlhaus (29) faked an injury so he could nick off early for some of the famous local Crocodile dim sims he'd heard about from Birchall and Roberton when they visited Cow Bay in round 9. Gibbs (80) and Parish (76) did what they had to do to get the 4 points for the team. For the Crocs the good news was hard to find. After not training for the past 3 or so weeks due to sore shoulders from carrying the midfield, Libba (112) again had to try to inspire a young midfield. Acres (75) did OK, Hopper (44) seems tired and Keays (23) just couldn't get anywhere near it. In a welcome sign, Jones (76) and Tucker (71) were best performed down back but Lonergan (30) continues to disappoint since moving north. OOP Merrett (31) did what he could in unfamiliar territory. Gunston's (112) efforts don't go unnoticed by the coaching staff but it didn't seem to do much to lift the spirits of DeGoey (79), Cameron (53) and Martin (45) into a better performing bracket. Patton (60) disappointed again but first gamer Honeychurch (96) impressed in his first outing this year. The win gives Ararat a 1 game buffer at the top of the ladder whereas the loss gives the Crocs a 1 game buffer at the bottom of the ladder. Round 16's matches sees Ararat host Pakenham at home and the Crocs travel to Coolgardie for the Orange Battle where the winner claims the title to the FU's best oranges. BAFFU 3 - Steven, ARA (164) 2 - Vince, ARA (145) 1 - Well, ARA (126)
Groote Eylandt Barracudas 1,163 def by Coolgardie Prospectors 1,204 From Three Mile Hill the Prospectors made their way to Groote Eylandt to stake their claim on the paddock. With pick axes in hand and ‘AU’ tattoos these miners were here to shaft someone. After putting a blemish on the league leader’s unbeaten record last week the Cuda’s were full of FeS2 as the blustery conditions rolled in and the paddock resembled an alluvium. The visitor’s midfielders soaked it up with Wright and Ebert slamming their opposition at every opportunity. They slogged it out pushing the pig skin forward to the white sticks. Redpath up front was a goal kicking machine as he bagged a mother lode. Westhoff and Hutchings raked up were they could pick up nuggets to fill their pockets. Martin drowned in the centre bounces as Mumford tapped everywhere else slapping the ball for miles. Not known for their defensive structure the visitors made the home side look like tailings the MacMillan way. The home side were water logged from the start as the rains came. Deep in the back line Burgoyne lead the way with a solid performance. The Bont shone in the winter solstice with some purple patches from Hannebery and Cripps of the Patrick kind. Guthrie disappeared in a sinkhole as did the whole forward line Stanley, Everitt & Cripps of the Jamie variety. Even the Magnificent Zorko couldn’t slot one through. Nicholls stood tall against the visitor’s third man attack and off the interchange Lewis and Captain Cotch did what they pleased in the slippery conditions. On this dark day the Prospectors came Groote digging for glory and found it in a low scoring affair and as the Cuda’s wash away the mud, blood and tears they could still hear the miners whistling and singing “Hi Ho, Hi Ho it off to work we go on the Cuda’s ……… Hi Ho”.
Hahahahaha That's absolutely classic mate! You do make my boys out to be a bunch of axe-wielding, violent, midgets! I think big Mummy would have something to say about that... and for the reference, the tattoos are all of love hearts with the word "Mum" stamped across them. Hi Ho, Hi Ho, Its off fishing we go, With a big catch here, and a big catch there, Hi Ho, Hi Ho, Hi Ho, Hi Ho!
Gisborne Grenades 989 defeated by King Island Monarchs 1190 There were few surprises to come out of this match. The bookies had KIM as favourites all week, and they delivered, doing more than enough to beat a hapless Grenades team who couldn't even put out any sort of bang. The Monarchs were kings across every single line except defense: -8, +87, +30, +73 and +17. The dominance in the midfield became KIM's sovereign state for the day, an absolute domination which Matt Priddis led with 105. Down back, twin tons to Rance 104 and Bartel 101 stood the Islanders in good stead. The Grenades only had two tons, one from old timer Grundy and another from the consistent Jack Riewoldt who both hit 101. BAFFU 3. Priddis 2. Rance 1. Bartel A small review of the Monarchs The Monarchs are an impressive line up, and could be challenging for the premiership this year. A strong defense is only let down by a weak D4, which Tylo will be hoping can be sorted out before finals. The midfield is elite, hwoever down years from Scott Thompson and Travis Boak will be a slight cause for concern. The second best ruckmen in the land, Nic Naitanui, rules down in King Island, however, they won't be happy with his recent injury. The forward line is the weakest line, but still stronger than some. The F4 position is again a worry. The IC line for King Island has been performing well all year. Currently in third, the Monarchs will be hoping to at least stay in the top four and should push for the top two. I'd place them in contention for the premiership, but I think Ararat might win it at this stage.
Early update from the Blowflies Bulls match up Some dodgy work akin to tying the wind socks down at Windy Hill sees the Blowies name Reddan & Barlow however we expect Hartung & Poppy to make up the 15. Blowies 403 / 5 / 80.6 (inc Hartung & Poppy) Bulls 301 / 3 / 100.3 What will the new dawn for the blowies bring?
At 2/9th time in the match between Coolgardie and Cow Bay, its the home side Prospectors with the score on the board 347 / 5 / 69.4 leading the high averaging Crocs 287 / 3 / 95.7 Ceglar is leading the way for the visitors, on 128 points, while Kennedy is leading the way for the home side, on 117 points. There's still a lot of footy to come in this one!
Update from The Stadium at Banchang sees Gisborne's 14 players trailing Banchang's 14 players, 1/50 to 4/302 with Selwood (102) and new boy, Enright (87) leading the way for The Barcrawlers.
I'd do a score update, but getting enough alcohol into me to forget the loss is impairing my calculus skills
We're now at 4/9th of the way through the match, and Coolgardie are maintaining their slender lead over the higher scoring Cow Bay Crocs 675.5 / 9 / 75.1 to 619 / 7 / 88.4 Ceglar continues to lead the way for the visitors with 128, while Touk killed it for the home side with 139, but unfortunately he was playing out of position, so it only counted for 69.5 points. With Ebert injured on 10 points for the Prospectors, but a couple of donuts for starting 15 Crocs (Lonergan and Keays - although both have cover), this could end up being a very close game. Stay tuned for more updates.
@Len you're luking in the ORFFU here mate! We don't mind the score updates and the banter, but it might be had for the rest of the ORFFF to notice the posts Too much bleeding orange and drowning sorrows???
At 6/9th time in Coolgardie, and its still a close one, although the visiting @fresh Cow Bay Crocs have got their noses infront. Prospectors 810.5 / 11 / 73.7 Crocs 888 / 12 / 74.0 To come we have Macmillan, Fantasia, Wright, and Hutchings, while the visitors have Acres, Anderson, and Lycett. With a 77.5 point lead, can the Crocs hold on???
