Round 14 was the Household Cup, fears were raised on the a visit to Wineglass Bay the guys may take the name too seriously, half did, but the other half were epic, a good day for the giants is a good day for the Misfits. B&F points for round 14; 5 Ward - 143 is a nice return to form, the Misfits only centurion with 5 runout in the 90s 4 Hampson - Nice backup to his debut for the Misfits 4 Phillips - Well done big fella, keep it up 3 Williams - Fab favourite delivers again 2 Kelly - Hard to imagine there will be a classier player in 2 or 3 years than this guy 1 Smith - We missed you, welcome back Tally 49 Ward 23 Kelly, Williams 19 Whitfield 18 Laird 13 Daniel 12 Rich 7 Dunstan, Fantasia 5 Daniher, Hampson 4 Hombsch, Weller, Phillips 3 Bruce, Smith 1 Rose
I understand Josh Kelly has requested a trade to the Cows Len. Given your guys draft shenanigans I would be very disappointed if you tried to block it.
Round 15 and the Misfits were belted with an iron knob, never a pleasant experience. B&F points for round 15; 5 Rich - Clearly should remain untagged 4 Smith - Ramping up nicely for the finals, shame we won't be playing them, but could be a Dawson Cup star 3 Dunstan - May the force stay with you Luke 2 Ward - Might just win this thing 2 Kelly - Might win next year 1 Hampson - Been our best MSD recruit for some time Tally 51 Ward 25 Kelly 23 Williams 19 Whitfield 18 Laird 17 Rich 13 Daniel 10 Dunstan 8 Smith 7 Fantasia 6 Hampson 5 Daniher 4 Hombsch, Weller, Phillips 3 Bruce 1 Rose
Round 16 and the Misfits were dealt another loss by Birdsville, one of most teams we haven't beaten.. B&F points for round 16; 5 Laird - Defencive excellence 4 Smith - We have at least one fwd 3 Rich - Clearly did remain untagged 2 Ward - B&F winner 4 years in a row, be nice for him to have some competition 1 Williams - Becoming a marquee player Tally 53 Ward 25 Kelly 24 Williams 23 Laird 20 Rich 19 Whitfield 13 Daniel 12 Smith 10 Dunstan 7 Fantasia 6 Hampson 5 Daniher 4 Hombsch, Weller, Phillips 3 Bruce 1 Rose
Having traded in Jamie Elliot and Marc Murphy to address team deficiencies only to see neither play a game for us this year has hardened the Misfits trade strategy for this off-season, over pay or bugger off. B&F, Dawson Cup and othe random updates to follow.
I think we have reached the point where some of the guys I overpaid for need to move on, strategy will hopefully be finalised whilst sober
Round 17 and the final "real" hitout for the Misfits resulted in another loss, this time by 300 to Gariwerd bring our seasons final total to 4 wins 13 losses and a 17th place finish. The only positive being the "room for improvement" blather. B&F points for round 17; (Not single one managing the ton) 5 Laird 4 Whitfield 3 Daniel 2 Ward 1 Bruce, Williams, Rich Tally 55 Ward 28 Laird 25 Kelly, Williams 23 Whitfield 21 Rich 16 Daniel 12 Smith 10 Dunstan 7 Fantasia 6 Hampson 5 Daniher 4 Hombsch, Weller, Phillips, Bruce 1 Rose Ward almost doubles the 2nd place score & wins for the 4th year running, hopefully he actually has some competition next year.
Current Squad. Backs; Rory Laird, Zachary Williams, Jack Hombsch, Orazio Fantasia, Michael Hartley, Marco Paparone, Adam Tomlinson (Fwd), Daniel Rich (Mid) Mids; Callan Ward, Josh Kelly, Lachie Whitfield, Marc Murphy, Luke Dunstan, Lachie Weller, Matthew Kennedy, David Myers, Daniel Rich (Def) Forwards; Devon Smith, Caleb Daniel, Jo Daniher, James Rose, Josh Bruce, Will Hoskin-Elliot, Riley Knight, Jamie Elliott, Shaun Hampson (Ruck, Andrew Phillips (Ruck), Patrick Ryder (Ruck) Rucks Matt Flynn, Shuan Hampson (Fwd), Andrew Phillips (Fwd), Patrick Ryder (Fwd) PSD Draft Picks: 2, 20, 56, 74, 92 All players potentially tradeable (Some probably only for silly overs) Not averse to downgrading pick 2, would like to bring 4 active picks into the first 2 rounds.. Not going to seriously chase down trades myself until next year when positions become known.
In breaking news, Matt Kennedy has signed a 20 year deal with the Misfits. He looks happy, not as happy as the old bastard that signed him though
Watched the game last night - Caleb gave me huge amounts of joy running between guys in packs and picking out teammates left right and centre. What a star he is.
He was great Len - but would he get a game for the Giants? BTW, there is a young Cow having his fourth game tonight who we hope might turn out alright.
Bit surreal to be playing your 4th game in a qualifying final in front of a huge crowd at the MCG, he looks likely on what we've seen for sure. Caleb and the Giants, quick answer is you'd find a spot, but tbh no clue who would miss out to let him play, mids run pretty deep.
