After 1/9th of the grudge match, its @eagle_eyed and the Sandgropers 152 / 2 / 76 leading the home-side Prospectors 28 / 1 (0.5) / 28.
Bulls v P Dogs The Bulls midfield has finally clicked albeit too late amassing 504 points! Bulls Lead 986 / 10 / 98.6 P Dogs 937 / 12 / 78.1
6/9th of the way through the grudge match, and its: Coolgardie 1,005 / 13 / 77.3 Southern Cross 669 / 10 / 66.9 Thats a 336 point lead to the home side, with Fantasia and Miller to come, against Taylor, Day, Duncan, Crouch, and Cameron. While the Prospectors have the score on the board, the Gropers have the capability to run over the top in the final third. Lets see who progresses to the next round of the 2016 edition of the biggest loser!
7/9th of the way through, and the Prospectors are done, back in the sheds, and watching the replays of the Olympics. Final score 1196 / 15 / 79.7 There were 4 tons in the side, with Big Mummy leading the way on 128, closely followed by Touk on 125, captain JPK on 120, and Ollie on 107. The visitors have it all ahead of them, with Taylor, Duncan, Crouch, and Cameron still running around. Current score: 747 / 11 / 67.9 At this stage not a single ton in the side, with is a bad sign for @eagle_eyed and the Gropers.
@JPK the writing was on the wall before the first bounce; can't see my side making up 450 points. Congrats on your revenge!
Its all over in grudge match in Coolgardie, with the home side taking out a 156 point win over @eagle_eyed and the Southern Cross Sandgropers. Final scores: Coolgardie 1,196 / 79.7 to Southern Cross 1,040 / 69.3 The home side was well led by ruckman S Mumford on 128 points, while Touk Miller repaid the faith the coaching staff has shown in him, with a 125 point return. Captain JP Kennedy stood up with 120 points, and Ollie Wines also showed some class with 107 points of his own. Down back the scores were pretty average, with only Macmillan breaking 75 points, while the "utilities" in J Smith and D Petrie chipped in with a combined 66 points to equal full-time defence utility O Fantasia. The mids also saw Ebert and Hutchings turn up, although not really, with 70 and 81 points respectively. Up forward Watts, Daw, and Westhoff were servicable, while M Wright clearly didn't like being dragged from the center and into the pocket. Starting ruck all season has worn big Stefan out, with only a 70 point performance this week coming of the interchange. The only shining light for the visitors was midfield maestro B Crouch, scoring 113 points to just miss the BOG votes. The Gropers backmen did their best to be out-done by the make-shift Prospectors back four, with Day, Taylor, Plowman, and McGovern scoring only 78, 74, 67, and 60 points respectively, for a combined 279 ("just" pipping the Prospectors 209). There was NO support for Crouch in the middle, with none of Sheed, Vandenberg, and Duncan managing to top 70 points. That's three below average performances in the engine room of a (losers) finals game - hardly inspiring footy! The 271 to 378 score differential in the guts was the big difference in the game, a while other man's worth of work being done by the locals. Ruckman Roughead was outdone by his counterpart, but was still serviceable with 85 points of his own. The forward line saw D Smith on 89 points, and Rioli on 73 points, while Stringer and Darling were more worried about matching eachother's 67 points than they were about winning the game. The 296 points here outshone the home sides 287, as the only line the visitors were able to win, and it wasn't by much. The interchange was insipid, with Cameron on 64 and Harmes on a lowly 45 not even combining to beat Touk's 125. So that's the end of the road for the Gropers for season 2016. More importantly, the Prospectors have gotten one back on their local rivals. Next week sees the Prospectors looking to stay alive in the 2016 edition of the ORFFU Biggest Loser!
@JPK didn't I win the back line and fwd line; small victories! Great effort by the Prospectors, enjoy the game for its a long off season. The Sandgropers have been running on the smell of an oily rag (ASADA investigation?) for a good 10+ weeks now and as much as I don't want the season to end I'm looking forward to 2017 with hope the injury gods may look favourably on me and let me field a full strength side; it surely couldn't be as bad again!
Yes you did win the backline too - you'll have to excuse the fact that I can't remember what I've written only minutes before....
@wrightbrendan Serengeti contnue their late-season resurgence with an away-from-home victory over the Smugglers by approximately 130 points. Full match report to come.
In a case of too little too late the Bulls have crushed the P Dogs by 212 points 1343 to 1131 The battle was won in the middle with Rory Lobb now establishing himself as the Bulls premier ruckman (please retain RUC status) as he dominated big Sandilands in the ruck also pushing forward to nail 4 goals. This dominance gave the Bulls midfield first crack at the pill as Ricky, Conigs, Swallow, Griffen and Bastinac joined the party to rack up 617 points between them. The P Dogs star midfield (Ward, Jack, Shiel, Mills & Oliver) chased tail all day could only muster 413 points. The rest of positional match ups were pretty tight with the P Dogs defence getting the points over the Bulls 284 - 266 mainly due to the amount of ball being pumped into the Bulls forward line. Up front the P Dogs made the most of their inside fifty entries narrowly being outshone by the Bulls 303 - 300. Next week the Bulls I think play the Prospectors for the right to remain in the hunt as the best of the rest. Best of the Rest votes 3 Rocky 2 Lobb 1 Griffen
A game both teams weren't excited about playing having missed the real finals, showed in the lacklustre outing from both Pakenham 1223 and Korumburra 1187. It was a close match through out with only 4 players from both teams toning up. Big Bud was best 141 and Roo 108 lead the way for Pakenham with solid enough performances from all others. Hogan the disappointment 45. The blowflys had Hodgey 116 and Walters 104 doing their best and good scores from a few others. Wellingham stinking the joint up 25 is the difference really. Something the coach wouldn't be happy about. Pakenham move on, Korumburra can prepare for the offseason. Both clubs will see their basketball sides heat up soon, with a healthy rivalry continuing in two different leagues. Something both teams fans are already bantering about on social networks. We look forward to it. Good luck @Mick
Cheers @ddsaints just too good on the day. Looks like the match commitee's eagerness to give young Matt Kennedy his debut game for the club over playing young Jayden Hunt has cost us a narrow W in the end. With Hunt and Montagna both very likely to get defender status next season, the Flys defense will be formidable in 2017 and beyond (no more room back there for Sharrod!) All the best for the rest of the L Finals, bring on the NBA! and go Boomers!! I seriously think we've got a shot at Gold with this squad and with how ordinary the yanks have been. Skips FTW!!
The Semi / Preliminary Finals for the losers finals sees: 9 - Pakenham Parasites up against 13 - Serengeti Buffalos 10 - Staghorn Flat Bulls up against 11 - Coolgardie Prospectors Good luck to most remaining teams (sorry @tyze1 I'm sure you understand) vying to be the 2016 biggest ORFFU Loser!

Freagle??? Not sure I follow, unless you're trying to say "Freo supporting Eagle", in which case I can't really blame you, since I live by the "I support two teams, the Eagles, and whoever is playing the Dockers!"
