The POOYA Award goes to the player who pulls out the best example of a one off, unlikely to ever be seen again performance in his career. Think Steve Bradbury who won gold in the 2002 Winer Olympics after all his opponents fell over on the last corner. Think Prince of Penzance, the horse that won the 2015 Melbourne Cup with odds of 100 to 1. Think 5000 to 1 long shot Leicester City taking out the 2015-16 Premier League title.

Jake Carlisle won the inaugural POOYA with his 188 point effort in Round 18, one of three 100+ scores for the year. He scored 155 points the week before and his only other decent score was a 116 in Round 2. It was the year he was played forward and was so lost he scored sub 50 on nine ocassions and saw his average drop from 75.8 to 71.5.

Last year Jordan Murdoch took home the award with his score of 152 in Round 8. It was just one of two 100+ scores for the year and easily bettered his 101 from the previous year. He finished 2015 with an average of 67.9, a slight improvement to his 64.3 in 2014.

All weekly POOYA winners are eligible for the overall POOYA Award. Without further ado, here are this year's nominees to choose from:
*(all 2016 figures refer to rounds 1 - 20 only)

    Round 1
    Tom Hickey (Serengeti)
: Scored 157 points from 56 hitouts, 20 disposals - 13 contested, 6 clearances, 2 marks and 3 tackles in a 491 point loss to the Monarchs. Hickey wouldn't hit triple figures again until Round 6.
    2015: Averaged 69.6 from 11 games with 2 scores of 100+ and a top of 121.
    2016: Averaged 85.7 from 19 games with 4 scores of 100+ and a top of 157.

    Round 2
    Josh Gibson (Pearcedale)
: Top scored for the round with 191 points from 44 disposals, 12 contested, 9 marks, 4 tackles and 4 clearances in a 220 point win over the Smugglers. Gibson hasn't been affected by Lake's retirement from a fantasy perspective in 2016 with his average slightly increasing from last year to be the 11th best defender this year.
    2015: Averaged 90.7 from 21 games with 7 scores of 100+ and a top of 133.
    2016: Averaged 93.8 from 18 games with 7 scores of 100+ and a top of 191.

    Round 3
    Jacob Weitering (Groote Eylandt)
: Scored 129 points from 26 disposals, 10 contested, 9 marks and 2 goals in a 49 point win over the Prairie Dogs. In his first year Jacob has cracked the top 100 to be the 97th best averaging defender in his first year.
2015: Not eligible to be drafted
    2016: Averaged 65.8 from 16 games with 2 scores of 100+ and a top of 129.

    Round 4
    Rory Lobb (Staghorn Flat)
: Scored 103 points from 10 disposals, 9 contested, 4 marks, 4 goals and 6 hitouts in a 159 point win over the Barcrawlers. His best score for the year came two rounds later in Round 6 but he hasn't been able to score 100+ again in the FU H&A season.
    2015: Averaged 62.2 from 9 games with 0 scores of 100+ and a top of 87.
    2016: Averaged 74.2 from 19 games with 3 scores of 100+ and a top of 120.

    2015: Averaged 75.8 from 19 games with 3 scores of 100+ and a top of 112.
    2016: Averaged 81.5 from 17 games with 4 scores of 100+ and a top of 151.

    Round 6
    Blake Acres (Cow Bay)
: Scored 124 points from 24 disposals, 6 contested, 7 marks and 2 goals in a 401 point loss to the Monarchs. After being in and out of the side all year, Acres didn't score more than 100 again until Round 19.
    2015: Averaged 47.6 from 7 games with 0 scores of 100+ and a top of 78.
    2016: Averaged 71.2 from 13 games with 2 scores of 100+ and a top of 124.

    Round 7
    Josh Jenkins (Eden)
: Scored 140 points from 13 disposals, 5 contested, 7 marks and 8 clearances in a 249 point win over the Sugglers. It wasn't his best score for the year (which came in Round 11 with a score of 171) but it was a handy win for Eden.
    2015: Averaged 70.3 from 19 games with 2 scores of 100+ and a top of 116.
    2016: Averaged 89.3 from 19 games with 5 scores of 100+ and a top of 171.

    Hayden Crozier (Hughenden)

If any coach who voted Wright, Crozier or Weitering and wants to change their vote then feel free to PM me or post here. It might avert a re-vote

    I forgot about this.

No need to be secretive, everyone will know who I've voted for anyway. Was kinda hoping that the remaining coach would have his vote, but clearly not.
My vote, and thus the winner (sorry @fresh I'm stealing your thunder) is for .....

So I've had 2 PM's giving me an alternate player but it still managed to cause a tie! But, the other PM was sent 3 hours after voting closed so I'll be declaring a winner based on this.

    Drum roll please....

    The 2016 POOYA winner is.........

    Mitch Brown!

Congrats also go to Blanchetown and @martyg . A special POOYA hamper* will be sent across to the Blanchetown FC head office.
*Hamper may contain POO. Hamper may not exist.
