Not a bad effort......but mate, Garlett has been de-listed so pretty hard for him to be there Rd1.....move Sexton to I/C and McKenzie to HB nd you have Ah Chee there instead of Ainsworth, fair enough. 50/50 imo.
@bryzza This is what you probably missed..... http://www.goldcoastfc.com.au/news/2016-11-08/jarrod-garlett-released-from-contract
Colyer will be much more than depth. We don't have a lot of outside speed and run and before he got injured halfway through 2015 he was probably one of our best for that. Stanton gets ridiculously harshly treated and I'm definitely not one of the Stanton haters. TBH I think people resent that he got given the number 5 because obviously he is nowhere near Hird but it created expectations that were never going to be met. He was one of our best players in a pretty average side for quite a while but supporters expect the best players in your team to be amazing. He was just always a really good player that people expected to be excellent.
Will be very interesting to see the differences between these teams and how they line up for round 1. I reckon there will be a few more rookies starting in round 1, hopefully they get named early for our SC teams!
I don't see Vickery being outside the best 22 or 25 for that matter with the size of the contract thrown his way during the FA period and I'd say he'll take Roughy's spot until he's fit enough, otherwise a youngster like Sicily or Howe will probably end up making way for him. Hawks have a history of having 3 players capable of rotating through the ruck with Hale/McEvoy/Rough being a decent force when they were playing well and I'd think we'll see McEvoy/Rough/Vickery this year
Great work @bryzza some rather interesting selections / non-selections in that lot. As per @martyg comment, I hope there's more rookies playing, we might need them for SC!!!
There will always be a few rookies that sneak a look in for round 1 but we wait and see, but I can only see Brisbane and Gold Coast giving us more . Sent from my GT-N7105T using Tapatalk
Love the thread and the effort you've put in Bryzza, makes a good reference. I'm sure there will be rookies there come round 1, clubs rarely have there best 22 available. It's always interesting to see over the next few months which players are able to make the next step up. Some do it slowly but there's always some that just go bang over the pre-season.
made some changes, how does it look now? both sexton and hall did not have an impact playing HF so i see that as a major factor in Gold Coast success when they both played midfield very good players but still did not kick goals reason why neither kept M/F status
Lot closer to the mark now, bryzza. Also heard today on the AFL website, that Nicholls, coming off his knee injury, will need a big after-Christmas push on the training track to edge past Witts, according to Whiting.........interesting! http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-12-21/watch-gold-coasts-preseason-report-card
