The 2016 draft is here, all 18 clubs will be hoping that they can pluck champions of the future at their turn, with the 2016 All Australian U/18s sure to be in the mix for the first 2 rounds.

Hearing that the giants feel that their depth after 25 is lacking and they want bodies who can step straight into the game

I'm hearing the same, but feel we could have done better, time will tell

Reckon Mzungu, coming in as your 26/27th player isn't really a bad thing! :D He's a jobber, no doubt, but given the list profile of the Giants, it's not like they need to be filling the bottom end of their rookie lists with projects! :D

It's those dirt-cheap, older, under appreciated pickups that have enabled the Giants to do what they have done for mine. In contrast to the Suns pay-big-dollars-of-current-superstars model.

Would have preferred Mitch Grigg if there was a need to fill than Mzungu, at least De Boer may be young enough to develop from a base, as opposed to degenerate from ala Mzungu

In addition Max Spencer (Gold Coast) and Zach Sproule (GWS) will join their clubs as academy pre-selections, NEAFL player Blake Grewar has been rookie listed by the Brisbane Lions under Queensland list rules and the same rules have seen Sam Fisher join Sydney.

Category B rookie spots may be allocated to international players and players who have not been registered for at least three years
      - Mark O'Connor (Geelong), Connor Nash (Hawthorn), Darragh Joyce (St Kilda) and Ray Connellan (St Kilda) are all from Ireland
      - Corey Maynard (Melbourne) and Jack Stein (GWS) are 3-year non-registered players

There's also a spot reserved for the winner of the Fox Footy reality show, The Recruit.
      - Matt Eagles (Brisbane Lions)

That's 2017 AFL lists just about finalised unless there is another window for DFA's being signed by the clubs with 1 or 2 spots on their primary list prior to final list lodgement on Wednesday November 30.

Perhaps they just want guys on their list from every age group, I remember the Blues drafted/traded with that approach recently. Not that it helped Carlton particularly, but I'm pretty sure that Liam Jones was recruited predominantly on the "age profile" basis.

@Jason you shared an awesome stats sheet last year, any chance it may be available this year also?

Sorry to take so long to reply Len, must not have seen this tag at the time.

I don't think it was me who made any stats sheet last year, I don't think I've done one for more like 24 months.

If I have the time over the next month or so though, there is a decent chance that I'll work up something. Always happy to share this sort of stuff with the good folk on TS.

Cheers mate, must have been the year before as it was yours, I stripped out the FL stuff and replaced with FA, was a really nice piece fo work.

Once Les updates the stats I can draw down and create them properly, @walesy any word on timing?

Read that sc is opening on the 24th, so I should be able to grab something then.

Will need AFL fantasy to open before I can roll the site completely over though. Haven't heard their days yet
