At 4/9ths time the visitors out at The Lagoon are in front. Crocs 644 / 8 / 68.0 Smugglers 580 / 7 / 82.9
6/9th of the way through @Tylo Coolgardie: 756 / 9 / 84 King Island: 1058 / 13 / 81.3 KIM lead by 302. Coolgardie to come: Hooker, Kennedy, O'Meara, Watts, Fantasia, Martin King Island to come: 50% Gardiner, McStay
Half time at The Stadium and it's all one way traffic with the visiting Buffaloes completely outplaying the locals and are leading 11/1055/95.9 to Banchang's 11/941/85.5 Serengeti have winners all over the ground, none more so than big Charlie Dixon 135 up front, ably supported by Jack Steven 120 in the middle, and fit again Steven May down back with 112. The best for Banchang have been their middle 3 in Hall 120, Adams 114 and Lyons 104. The others have tried hard but just aren't quite up to it. Still to come for Serengeti are Gleeson Merrett Reid and Daniher while Banchang are pinning their hopes on Ibbotson Sinclair Langdon amd Robinson. The odds are all in the Buffaloes favour....
@Mick Early in the third at Mill Park sees the Blowflies laying it all on the line. Bulls 606 / 7 / 87 Blowies 892 / 11 / 81 Loads to play out in this one in a game that will come down to the final match up of the round
6/9ths of the way through the Battle of the Bugs IV and it's the visiting Sandgropers 842/11/76 leading @ddsaints home town Parasites 819/12/68. It really is a case of yin and yang for both teams with individual scores ranging from 28 to 139 for Southern Cross and 43 to 96 for Pakenham. This one could be busted open by a big score or two from the remaining players with the home team still to field Buddy, Hogan & Goddard and the visitors relying on Hibberd, Hurley, Fyfe & Rioli to notch up their third straight win. Go Gropers!
@insider , I may be dead to you but there is still a game to be played ........ ill post an update 6/9th way through home team leads toning it up on every line Armadillos 796/9/93 Vikings 797/10/80
At the Dino Dome the Greneades have taken the lead at 6/9ths of the way through the game. Witts (115) taking control of the rucks and providing plenty of opportunity for their on ballers and forwards to put a score on the board, it will be a mammoth effort from Hughenden to get up for their first win of the season..... Gasbourne Grenades. 1006/12/83.3 Hughenden 807/9/89.6
The Bunyips are 872/11 79.3 to the Barracudas on 816/9 90.7 The Waite comes in to visitors side and goes boom! While Giles goes plop!
It's a bit closer now @Batfink For Hughenden, it's Sandilands + Spurr For the Grenades, it's Neale + Hamling + 44 points At half time of the final match of the round it's currently swinging Gisborne's way...
Despite 50 hit outs from Sandilands it appears they have all been tapped to Neale and Gisbourne are running away with it.
@ddsaints I've got a win for Southern Cross by 4 points. If correct I'll take the win but a bit too close for my liking. Ex-Sandgroper Franklin did his best to spoil the party but it looks like I've come out on top!
In a hard fought second half, Rocky, Roughy, Hilly & Big Boy have led the Bulls to victory over the Blowflies. Match report to follow tomorrow. A draw is on the cards in the big tap Bulls 1329 / 15 / 89 Blowies 1253 / 15 / 84
2 point win!!! From 1-3 to 4-3! Another big test against the Smugglers coming up this weekend; a win would consolidate a spot in the eight and really set us up at almost half way through the season.
The full time siren has sounded at The Stadium and the visiting Buffaloes have run out convincing winners over the Barcrawlers 1380-1164. With only 106 points down at the main break, Banchang were in with a chance, albeit a slight one, but once the 2nd half started, the class of the visitors shone through. Young Zac Merrett 133, continued on his fine season, ably supported by habitual hugger ,Joey Daniher with 114, to finish 216 points up and consign the Barcrawlers to another loss. The only shining light for the home team was Sinclair's win in the Big Tap over Longer 79-25 BOG. 3. Dixon 135 (SB) 2. Merrett 133 (SB) 1. Steven 120 (SB) 1. Hall 120 (BB)
GET BACK!!! GET BACK!! As a coach I am disgusted in my team. The Bunyips board has been dragging me over the coals for the last 36 hours and I (like horse Longmire) have started to doubt the playing group and our own ability to effectively coach. The visiting Barracuda's were just awesome, dominating the Bunyips in all aspects of the game except the Ruck. Big Sauce Jacobs continues to be the inform ruckman of the competition (no bias here) and dominated the hapless Giles all day. The only issue with the tap down from Jacobs, was he was tapping it down the Cuda's midfield who were quickly dropping it onto Waite's lap. Jarrad Waite... what can I say? 3 first qtr goals and I knew things were going to be bad. When Waite can score 190 and Robbie Gray can only manage 30, it was always going to be a tough day in the coaches box. Lloyd, Burgoyne, Cripps, Bont, Hannas, Cotchin all tonned up for the visitors whilst Lewis, Zorko and Murphy were all close to the tonne. For the homeside the only real highlight was Caleb Marchbanks 108 who saw alot of the ball down back whilst the Bunyips copped a belting. The best player for the Bunyips was stuck in the two's, SD Thompson busted out a 123 and could have been a mention for the POOYA this week. Undoubtedly Jarad Waite has POOYA locked and loaded this week with being dropped for 5 weeks coming back with that kind of score. This week will take a while to get over, I am still having nightmares waking up in a cold sweat screaming "GET BACK, GET BACK". Congratulations to @YAD69, sorry for the lack of updates over the weekend, had RL getting in the way of trolling through scores. BOG - J Waite - 3 Points Bontempelli - 2 Points Jacobs - 1 Point Big Tap - Jacobs. The Cuda's are at home this week against a strong Bulls outfit, whist the Bunyips have some soul searching to do at home again against the Panthers.
Round 7: Bulls Blowflies Review With both teams coming off horrendous outings in round 6, this was somewhat of a redemption match for both coaches after @Mick's Blowflies scored 1108 in dropping a game to Gisborne, whilst tyze's Bulls scored 1019 in a disappointing loss to the Whalers. There were rumblings of a player revolt at Mill Park during the week where senior Bulls questioned the coaches commitment to the Bulls cause. After been given the green light to take the reigns of a second FF team in 2016, whilst the Bulls made the trek to Eden the coach did not travel with the squad... Instead tyze pulled on the boots for the first time since 2011 for the Yackandandah 2's after getting a distress call from the President on Thursday night. This in addition to his Auskick Coordinator / Coaching duties on Sunday mornings had the players asking the question - is the coach serious about the Bulls plight? What ensued was a free flowing high scoring contest as both teams freed the shackles. In the ruck it was a cracking contest as both big men played free of each other and in the process racked up 111 points each in possibly the first Big Tap tie. The midfield battle swung the Bulls way as Rocky (148) provided the grunt and B Hill (118) the outside run. Coniglio returned with 101 and stitched up Sloane (80) as the tagger was deployed. For the Blowflies Mengola (103) thrived as a late call up and Barlow (80) toiled away. With the inside 50 count high for the Bulls it was Roughead (114) & Lynch (106) who took their opportunities, Docherty (103), JJ (106) and Hodge hurt the Bulls on the counter attack however were out manned in the contest. Walters (119) pushed up the ground and was damaging as the link man for the Blowflies but the lack of ball inside forward 50 saw Cocky & SJ battle. Blowflies reject Wellingham was supreme off half back for the Bulls notching up his highest score for his new club 97 points. Mackie & Mayes quietly went about their business proving run and support to Wellingham. Off the pine Weller, Myers, Redden and McVeigh all failed to have a major impact although it was good to see the seasoned campaigners in McVeigh and Myers back for their clubs. All in all it was an entertaining clash, ultimately it was the Bulls midfield that swayed the match the Bulls way as they prevailed by 77 points 1327 to 1250. Next week sees the Blowflies who are 4 points from the top 8 return home to take on an inconsistent King Island who are coming off a big loss to Coolgardie. The Bulls make the trek north to take on Groote Eylandt which places 4th v 6th on the ladder in what promises to be another cracking game.
In a tale of everything that could go wrong, did go wrong, Nutsyland have been trumped by an unconvincing Armadillo outfit. Im sure the Vikings board will be closely analysing their list after only 3 players met or exceeded their season average on their way to the 1205 to 1271 loss. Jack Viney toiled hard all day in the guts with Seb Ross also delivering well to Heeney, however you know you're in strife when Brodie Grundy gets done by the rookie hyphen Sam Petrevski-Seton in the ruck (shoutout maiden Big Tap win SPS!). Despite the early failings of Montagna, Boyd and Petracca, Nutsy was still on the ball, however when Birchall went down with a knee for a grand total of 6 points, their collective day was done. For the home side it was the forward line who carried the team with all 4 Dillo's raising the bat. Mason Wood's 117 surprisingly wasn't the team highlight, with the aforementioned Sam(mo) Petrevski-Seton taking this honour by dominating in the ruck. Wells' late out wasn't ideal but, a man who has been on the list a few years and biding his time in the NEAFL, Jake Barrett stepped up to notch a respectable 60 as an emergency. Coaches award (free small cheeseburger meal) goes to Luke McDonald for his best on ground performance and score of 103.
The Crocs hosted the Smugglers this weekend at home but were defeated by 41 points losing 1,205 to 1,246. It was an epic battle amongst the ruckmen in Kreuzer and Boyd but it was the visiting Kreuzer (127) who took the Big Tap honours over Boyd (105) who put in a POOYA nomination worthy effort. With young Cow Bay sensation McGrath out it was up to Zak Jones to provide run from the back line and he helped himself to 143 points. His effort was the only shining light amongst the defensive 4 with Dunn (68), Martin (62) and Hampton (47) not really doing much. OMcDonald's 80 points in the reserves will put pressure on one of these under performers. In a welcome return to form Acres (106) and Blakely (108) did their bit to get the homeside excited. Libba (88) battled manfully but there was little from Hopper (48). Cameron (91) continues his strong 2017 form and young McCarthy (73) continues to impress in his return to the FU. De Goey's effort (72) was great to see in his return from a club imposed suspension. The visitors were led by veteran Johnson (109) from the defensive line and had some support from Hurn (84) and Hartlett (77). With Kreuzer's effort during the day the midfield had the slight upperhand. Heppell (103), Grigg (102) Tyson (99) and Martin (87) were able to get on top of the home side. Although their cobbled together forward line struggled, they were still able to get the team over the line. LeCras (95) and Menzel (77) did their part but an out of position Markov (22) struggled to adjust to the other end of the ground. Young Lever (90) was handy cover coming off the bench. BAFFU 3 Jones, Cow Bay (143) 2 Kreuzer, Christmas Island (127) 1 Johnson, Christmas Island (109) The win gives the Smugglers a 3-4 record and move up to 11th spot on the ladder whereas the Crocs will rue another close loss and slip to 16th place. Next week the Smugglers host the Sandgropers while the Crocs will sample the local delights in the the Barcrawlers' home town.
