*COUGH* excuse me Sir however i think you will find it is a rubber stamped bona fide rule that trading can be completed during all drafts
This says it's up to the Commish or the Board. @insider Can you point me to where the change was made. 6. DRAFT . (d) Players can’t be “reserved” (ala the Father-son rule) for drafts. Each coach will pick in the order of their eligible draft picks, and may select any of the available players that they chose. (The option of trading during drafts is designed to allow coaches to bid for players that they wanted but missed out on) unless otherwise specified by the Board or Commissioner (e.g. Beta-4 Player Carlie). Show me where it says it's not permitted mate? Sure, there's a provision to deny, but why change rules on the fly? There was a poll 2 or 3 years ago and it was accepted and written as a rule. No need to modify it for no reason
Mate, I'm not advocating changing anything. all I did was copy and paste an excerpt from the 2016 Rules thread. So if it was polled and changed then we need to change the latest 2016 Rules to show that.....that's what I meant.
I don't quite remember and haven't bothered looking through past posts but I thought that we got rid of trading during drafts before last year's PSD. Can't remember the coaches involved but I remember that a trade of a first round pick for Vlastuin had to wait until after the PSD because the trading deadline was missed (the trade ended up as Gresham for Vlastuin). Either way I'm not fussed if we do or don't allow it.
I do remember this one and thinking about how it was a huge hassle that I had to wait to get Gresham (I think I even told @wrightbrendan who to select with the pick)
In a positive note, coaches are bringing their best game to the P/Dogs cause they know they are on the cusp.
Incorrect. Please see below from 'original rules' prior to them being created in a new thread for whatever reason. 4. TRADES (a) Preseason Trade Period opens early November until the end of January of the next year. Trading is then open during preseason draft but closes at midnight on the day the preseason draft concludes. Read more at http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/fu-rules.82047/#o32uquGvcWROyEe5.99 Granted it makes no reference to mid season draft, HOWEVER it clearly states that trading is open and available DURING preseason draft.
Can't be arsed looking for it but I thought we went through all of this last time when it was questioned. Surely if teams wish to trade and it does not hold up the draft it should not be an issue. I even recall trying to offload Milera for a pick so I could get Sam Fisher but no one was interested (I'm looking at you @JPK ); granted this was a pre-season draft but surely it should apply to any draft.
I agree that we should be able to do private trades throughout the entire period. Should we have a rule that only players can be traded whilst the draft is occurring and not picks? Makes it easier for the board to manage. My 2 cents worth anyhow.
A good idea no doubt Marty, but my thinking has always been along the lines of US sports. Say you have pick 10 but at pick 8 I select a kid you really had your eye on. I believe it makes it quite exciting and adds a dimension if, obviously prior to you taking your pick or the time limit expiring, we agreed on a trade where I secure pick 10 and you get the player I selected at 8. Now this obviously hasn't occurred through our 6-odd drafts thus far, however as it IS in the rules I don't believe it should be suddenly restricted or disallowed on the very remote chance a 'live' trade happens.
