Thanks for organising state of origin again this year @Bandit. It is unlikely that emergencies will be required, especially given that state of origin players get two or (in Gold Coast & Port's case) three bites of the cherry to post a score, however naming four emergencies as we do in the ORFFA would provide cover if there was an instance like a couple of weeks back where Giant Devon Smith suffered a long-term injury the day before the game. Also SOO team's need to be selected before all the Round 11 teams are announced so we might become aware of some injuries/illnesses between selecting the SOO team's and Round 11 starting.
Pre round 10 injuries we had a working (not final) set-up of D - T McDonald (BIB), T Adams (GGH), D Roberton (IKC), R Laird (MBM) M - Danger (FBC), M Murphy (MBM), T Mitchell (WKI), S Ross (LLL) R - Mummy (FBC) F - Buddy (WWW), JJK (WSW), L Dalhaus (FBC), J Macrae (IKC) I/C - Rocky (GGH), L Neale (GGH) Looks like JJK is out and Rocky is marginal. Bearing in mind the representation clause, perhaps we should shuffle the deck chairs a little. Hold off on Rocky as long as possible. Bring Josh Kelly in if necessary. Jez Cameron replaces JJK. Not a bad F, and this maintains TiB's representation. Stringer replaces JJK. Wines comes in to replace Rocky. Representation maintained. Lachie Wellers recent form is terrific, he could replace JJK. Wines to the mids. Our ruck is still a debating point. Still favour Mummy but can appreciate arguments for others. Grundy has certainly put his hand (and long arm) up. Thoughts from Best Team members are invited.
Original stats have been updated and duplicates omitted... For the Good guys, I'll put up my thoughts on a provisional team to take on the Stench in an hour or so
OK, here is a provisional Vic/Tas team for the good guys to debate and the Stench to throw shit at. Defenders: Sam Docherty (VBV), Michael Hurley (CMD), Kade Simpson (NN), Alex Rance (DGD) Mids: Rory Sloane (WGP), Scott Pendlebury (CMD), Marcus Bontempelli (COS), Dustin MARTIN (MBU) Ruck: Stefan Martin (VBV) Forwards: Mitch WALLIS (GC), Elliot Yeo (VBV), Toby Nankervis (CMD), Isaac Heeney (LBL) Bench: Zac Merrett (COS), Dayne Zorko (CMD) Representation breakdown: Cradle Mountain Devils 4 Venus Bay Vultures 3 Charlie's Opening Spelunkers 2 Darraweit Guim Dirigibles 1 Gariwerd Cockatoos 1 Lovely Banks Lilacs 1 Mount Beauty Uglies 1 Nunawading Nuffers 1 Wineglass Bay Packers 1 All straight off averages with the exception of Rance and Simpson coming in for Montagna and Tuohy in Defence, to meet the one rep from each team criteria. Wallis is a risk only two games in from a massive injury, but one worth taking for mine. Suggestions?
Cameron is in rare form, given the rep criteria I think he is a good in. Duckwood or Oliver for Rocky if the news there isn't positive?
Most here have a history of interested observer status for anything like this mate, I wouldn't treat post count as a level of interest. It is a good deal of work for you though so you need to be happy to do it
I'm happy to do it, if there is interest... if there isn't then I have a practice fairway and a golf game that could do with a bit of a touch up. Given there is very little comment being made about either teams composition I can only assume the level of interest is low? We have 72 hours to decide final teams
Tentative then JJK to Cameron and Rocky to Jelwood. Other suggestions still wanted. Practice fairway sounds good if there is no real interest. Am happy to keep "leading" but would like to hear from all the troops. "Where are they? Which way did they go? I need to know, for I am their leader."
Agree here. Cameron for JJK. Ducky in for rocky if he can't get up. Mummy in ruck. Wash ur mouth @Len for suggesting the orffa Brownlow leader in Ross gets a bench spot! Thanks for ur efforts @Bandit Rest assured.
Think Wallis is well worth the risk. No Mitch Duncan? Thought he might get a gig but is the average not quite there?
Got pipped by one average point mate by Yeo, but 3 game average has him 5 points higher. Could be a valid call, I'm not fussed either way so will throw it to the rest of the esteemed Vic/Tas coaches for their opinion
Diddums. We're all here M8. We appreciate all your work. We don't love you any less because you live in a hole. I can see @graeme has everything under control for our lot. Rather than hit the fairways, perhaps you could distract him with a bridge challenge? After a hiding from Arsenal, I'm sure we now have his complete attention.
