I went early with Scharenberg purely for the downgrade cash grab to turn Sam Powell Pepper into Dustin Martin. bloody Simmo ruined my McInnes trade so didn't have very many options. Here's hoping the sticky tape and string holding the young fella together can last for half a dozen weeks at least.

Wait til you hear who i traded out haha...

Yeah, i agree, ordinarily it would be a big call, but I was looking to downgrade a def anyway, so its not that big a deal. Most of my rookies are playing (except Eddy and Strnadica) so i can do with another who is not as it will help with loopholes like this with Stewart.

I have been trading really aggressively all season. Ive traded out rookies early before they fully matured (eg Marchbank, WHE, Taranto), I've done sideways trades (eg Wingard to TAdams early, Beams when inj).

This week's trades for me are not text book either. The big call this week is that it was JJ that I traded out for Mitch Hibberd. Im really hoping it doesnt bite me. I'll be trading Balic to Dusty tomorrow, unless he is a late out, so effectively its 2 sideways trades. But it was all about byes, i had too many players out in r11 (bad planning). i need all 3 trades next week and both 2 this week to ensure i have 19 players next week :(
I had been checking byes when trading but simply miscalculated. I shouldnt have brought in Heeney as my last FWD upgrade.

I was initialy considering trading out Newman this week but could not justify it because his price is still spiking a lot this week! I already had a fully upgraded defence, so i thought i could trade JJ (R11 bye) this week because i can trust Newman on field anyway, and then trade out Newman next week. I will also be trading Fisher and Barrett out next week. For them, I hope to bring in a rookie, Scott Selwood and Laird. Which will leave me with 19 playing. I couldve kept JJ and had 18, but it was too risky to have just 18 imo. I still pray there are no injuries to my guys because i wont have spare trades to deal with them... but at least theres the extra player, which is another reason why i didnt want to wait until next week.
Im not sure if this is making sense, there is some method to the madness :eek:o_O

Then the only upgrade i would have left to do after round 11 would be 1 more mid and ill have cash generation from Greenwood, Stewart, SPP, and SSelwood to use for it.

As i said, ive traded aggressively and will only have 14 left after this round, 11 left after next round. Subtract the 2~4 trades needed to upgrade my last mid spot and I'll still have 7~9 trades left for LTIs etc, which i reckon is more than enough.
Im looking ok for round 12 and round 13 byes, touch wood.

We'll see how it goes :)

Cant cover Sandilands as my Ryder/Nank swap is not available because Ryder played (badly) last night. This year is killing me - finally on track to get near to 2400 and now I have a donut!!!!!

This is thinking Sandi, Steele and Witts can be good enough to be keepers, but i will probably upgrade them as well

Off to a nice start last night with danger vice, selwood and stewarts 91 which can be rescued from the bench via captain hampton.

I think everyone who was planning on mcinnes should be thankful and not disappointed he went out this week. Far better now then being conned into bringing him in and getting axed after a 3rd game, especially going into the bye rounds. His JS always looked shakey at best to me.

I need to do something in the ruck this week to avoid the sandilands donut if preuss doesnt make the cut and im not expecting he will. Plan was initially cash in preuss for greenwood and sub nankervis forward but the problem with that is it locks him into rucks when id prefer him as a forward. With english being named and cheap im now considering him for preuss. I was surprised he got named tbh as i thought roughhead was due back from injury. Does anyone have any thoughts on his JS, is he likely to be given a decent run at it? The cash on a preuss to english would be handy but id be relying on him as coverage for the bye rounds to make the trade worthwhile and he suits my bye structure.

      TU: Preuss to English
TD: Preuss to Greenwood (subing nankervis to ruck)

      Cheers!

Looking at 2 trades this week wanted peoples thoughts. Looking at bringing Hibberd in for either Otten or Marchbank. Will still have the $$$ to move Callan Ward up to a Dusty, Sloane, Bont.
Will have to make this a 2 pieces TU/TD/Options

      TU - Otten - Hibberd
      TD - Marchbank - Hibberd

      This latest news might help..........
Ruckman Braydon Preuss appears unlikely to play despite being named on North’s extended bench for Sunday’s game. North coach Brad Scott said at his Friday press conference that it had become increasingly hard to play two ruckmen and, with No.1 big man Todd Goldstein in good form, Preuss looks set to spend another week in the VFL.

Anyone with some intel on Hurley ?
      Rounds 1-4 Avg 82
      Rounds 5-9 Avg 113

Has their been an injury thats changes his role ? And potential risk of a drop when that player returns ?
Any other reason why he wouldn't keep this type of scoring up ?

Last night just emulated my season so far...

Had McInness in for a trade this week but saw the teams last minute before lockout and made alternative trades, no problems there.

However, totally missed the resetting of VC/C as a result of reversing changes. After the game thought you beauty, Danger as VC can't go wrong here. Attempted to sub in a non-playing to make use of the loophole and it was at that moment I knew I'd f'd up... SPP was locked in a C from last week.

      My heart sank

For what it's worth mate I traded him in last week. Handy round 13 bye and as your post suggests has a healthy average these last few games. Also a bit of a POD at this current time :p

I went for the Bont. As a sloane owner since the very start im concerned about the hard tags that it appears teams are now putting on him. Yes he scored well last week but it was in a huge win and his oppenent was only Robertson youd expect him to score well in that. Mitchell and JPK look other good options. As for who to go for hibberd it might depend on your bye structure, marchbank will be missing next week whereas otten has the final bye, Im planning to move him on then. Do we expect any difference in scoring with marchbank with rowe being out injured? Just wonder if his role might change a bit now.

Thanks for the votes ive decided to go greenwood for preuss and leave english be. Just have one more for the votes on who to flick for lloyd from gws. Pickett seems less likely to play but the trade nets stuff all cash and with a deeper bench you can afford to probably have one player rusting away there, but not two so with byes one has to make way.

      TU: Pickett
      TD: Balic

Your aggressive trade strategy has definitely reaped rewards - I have been trading hard too but clearly not as successfully. You pumped me in the Ashes league last week.

Got to love Lloyds 4 points from last night to go with 100+ scores from my other four that have played. Can't get any momentum this year!!

Us Aussies are a bit up and down in that Ashes league so far, I see you are in the top 8 with me, but its mostly UK mob up there I think (Im not sure exactly who is who this year with some of the teams).

Yes, the strategy has reaped rewards so far, but it is very risky and i could come crashing down at some point. It has done better than expected, because I have also made some bad decisions and some silly mistakes along the way that have cost me significant points. Thinking about those things, I scratch my head wondering how I'm still ranked so high. As Walesy says, SC is death by a thousand cuts, and I reckon I have already had too many cuts this season to realistically think I could challenge for prize money.

Also, going early on trading out some of my rookies might mean I end up with a team that isn't as upgraded as I'd like, simply from not having enough cash generation. I think I've planned it ok and should be able to upgrade all positions, but it'll leave me with little trades remaining and a couple of injuries will be problematic... whereas others around me with more trades left will be able to handle some injuries.

I'm currently about 500 points from 1st, which I think could be made up still, but its early days, and as I wrote up above, it is unlikely I think. Anyway, the bye rounds will sort everyone out a lot more, so we'll have to see how we're all going in a few weeks and reassess.
