Also interested, just been an interested observer

For the VIC team, with Archie Smith joining Stef Martin in the ruck last week, do we think Matt Kreuzer could be a better option? His last month has been 127. 104, 121, 146, worth a thought...

Vic/Tas people's thoughts.... both are Vultures so no impact to selection criteria here?

Brisbane have the Sandi-less Freo and Port
Carlton have GWS and Gold Coast

I think Kreuzer will get touched up by Mumford, but he could pull out a big one against Gold Coast. Freo will be all over the place with Griffin likely rucking, but Smith might steal a few points indeed.

    Provisional Stench Team looking like:

D - Tom McDonald (BIB), Taylor Adams (GGH), Dylan Roberton (IKC), Rory Laird (MBM)
M - Patrick Dangerfield (FBC), Marc Murphy (MBM), Tom Mitchell (WKI), Seb Ross (LLL)
    R - Shane Mumford (FBC)
F - Lance Franklin (WWW), Jeremy Cameron (WSW), Luke Dalhaus (FBC), Jack Macrae (IKC)
I/C - Tom Rockliff (GGH), Lachie Neale (GGH)

With Joel Selwood in for Rockliff if he doesn't get up (interestingly enough Brisbane have the bye this week so not sure how you are going to decide on this by tomorrow)

Provisional Vic/Tas Championship winning team is:

Defenders: Sam Docherty (VBV), Michael Hurley (CMD), Kade Simpson (NN), Alex Rance (DGD)
Mids: Rory Sloane (WGP), Scott Pendlebury (CMD), Marcus Bontempelli (COS), Dustin MARTIN (MBU)
    Ruck: Matthew Kreuzer (VBV)
Forwards: Mitch WALLIS (GC), Elliot Yeo (VBV), Toby Nankervis (CMD), Isaac Heeney (LBL)
Bench: Zac Merrett (COS), Dayne Zorko (CMD)

Teams need to be finalised by 7:50pm tomorrow night.

@Bandit lack of discussion doesn't mean that people aren't interested, they just might not have much to add, I think you are doing a great job. It has been fantastic to check out the SOO spreadsheets over the past couple of weeks and see which players were in contention. Scott Pendlebury loved playing in the SOO last year and certainly appreciated seeing the initial provisional teams a couple of weeks back even though he wasn't in it, it served as great motivation to improve in the past fortnight and make the Vic/Tas team.

On the subject of Pendles the AFL media team have selected their four SOO teams for Vic, SA, WA and Allies, one of the major talking points was that Pendles was overlooked for the Victorian team. Below is a link to the article if anyone is interested:

EDIT: I totally stuffed up, trying to suggest one of Waikikamoocow's players and one of Whitsundays' players for the Vic/Tas team! So I have changed this comment around. At least it allowed me to narrow down the options to a solid proposal...

Vic/Tas, I think we should change Merrett to Ebert. Port have 3 chances to play well and they play Bris in r13 which should be good for their mids.

It will not mess up our quota because Merrett has a teammate in the side already.

The Cows would like to have Ebert and Wines but I am not sure TiBby would be too happy.

Hannebery, Fyfe and GAJ seem to be unable to get a SOO gig for The Best. Have we missed something?

Its a good point on Hanners (3 game 128), that 3 game avg is pretty sweet.
Not sure who would make way, maybe Murphy (3 game 104).
I reckon Neale's last game of 55 is a glitch, he'll bounce back. Was on a 3 game 136 prior.

    Line ball probably.
    Hanners or Murph?

I dislike Hannebery intensely, but other than that baseless sentiment I don't mind

Great question, so I've dived into the stats... my call is to stay with Merrett.

3 game average of 99 for Ebert versus 110 for Merrett. The other thing to factor is if Port go massive against Brisbane, I think you are going to see a more even spread of the spoils, with Robbie Gray, Boak etc using their rebound of half back to tear the Lions to bits... you are unlikely to see in my opinion someone like Ebert going massive. The Adelaide game against the Lions in Round 9 a case in point, with only 4 players getting 100+ in an 80 point win. When Port beat Brisbane by 87 points in Round 6, Ebert only got 109... bang on his average, and there was only 5 100+ players.

You can just about bank Merrett to get a ton in one of his two games... is Ebert going to go large enough to step away from that insurance? I personally don't think it's worth the risk.

The counter to that argument is Ebert gets 3 shots to hit his average... is he a safer bet?

Ebert's averages against Hawthorn, Essendon and Brisbane are 52, 81, 111. Merrett's against GWS and Port are 92 and 110.

All in all I think the risk of a sub 100 from Ebert versus a 120+ isn't worth it

    Just my $0.02

The Best team for SS 2017:
D - Tom McDonald (BIB), Taylor Adams (GGH), Dylan Roberton (IKC), Rory Laird (MBM)
M - Patrick Dangerfield (FBC), Marc Murphy (MBM), Tom Mitchell (WKI), Seb Ross (LLL)
    R - Shane Mumford (FBC)
F - Lance Franklin (WWW), Jeremy Cameron (WSW), Luke Dalhaus (FBC), Jack Macrae (IKC)
I/C - Joel Selwood (FBC), Lachie Neale (GGH)

TBH, I reckon we would also be favourites if there were a magoo's comp under the same rules. :p

Ebert is a very solid midfielder, but very rarely a massive midfielder. Zerrett is above solid and often massive. Smurph can go missing at times.

Now, what happens if Big Lance is auctioned off to that other mob?

Keep wearing your heart on your sleeve - you'll get there.

I continue to dislike Campbell Brown with some intensity. The good part is there never was, and never will be, a question of selection.

I would like to think, and I hope @Bandit would agree, that their ORFFA team at lodgment of the team sheet would cover this?
