Thanks for the write ups, @dmandrews . For the record, Tom McDonald was selected with my first pick in the 2012 MSD. I can't remember exactly which pick I had but I'm pretty sure it was in the top 5.
Top shelf stuff as ever @dmandrews . Intrigues me to see 20 (10 in each side) of the 30 players were from the Inaugural draft. Only 4 players have been traded - 2 from each catchment area. Won't mention names to protect the innocent, but why didn't sNoZ hold Docherty after I traded him as a steak knife in a multi-part deal with included some very forgettable s of which I can only remember Crameri, so the other player must have been a shocker.
ORFFA State of Origin – Week 1 review So here we are in the ORFFA mid season break…. It’s hardly a break as most of the ORFFA coaches are sitting down with their spuds and telling them to get stuffed, and then trying their luck in the mid-season draft, which results in aforementioned coach then telling some other ORFFA coach to get stuffed as well. There have been some massive trades, including @Fitzy selling the holiday house at Blairgowrie, to bankroll a bloody hard push for the 2017 premiership, by bringing in Buddy. When Buddy was floated as an auction listing by the wombats, the rest of ORFFA were onto it faster than a seagull onto a chip outside the Nepean Hwy KFC. The other event that happens over the next three weeks is the ORFFA state of origin, where the wise and esteemed coaches of the VIC/TAS clubs in ORFFA take on the salad dodging, goon bag drinking filth from the rest of the comp, otherwise known as The Rest/Others/Winners/Stench. Last year The Stench took the chocolates and with the Lefties from Larrikin Lagoon winning the premiership, the honour of hosting this year’s tournament fell to @That KI Guy , even though his team are a bloody shambles at the moment. The starting 15’s for both teams all but selected themselves, with some mutterings within the Vic/Tas guys about ruckman and bench selections, and the Stench squabbled over the Joel Selwood pick. The starting lineups have been well detailed in @dmandrews excellent article, so I will cut straight to the chase and review the first round (apart from a bit of dribble about Ebert vs Merrett) This week each team had 8 members of the State of Origin team representing. As it stands right now the Stench have a nice little lead sitting at 840 versus Vic/Tas 805. The interesting statistic is both teams after the first round are 47 net points down on their averages so there is room for improvement in both camps. With only 2 points separating the squads on season to date averages it was always going to be a close fought battle. As it stands right now, if the players who haven't played, play to their averages Vic/Tas will win by 2 points The Ebert v Merrett debate in the Vic/Tas selection headquarters raged along on Thursday night as Ebert said Get Stuffed to Bandit on his way to a massive 141. Merrett tried to respond but could only poll a 118 so @anthak and @chris88 will be burning effigies of me as I type this. The Hits : Dusty Martin went massive with a 165, and gave the opposition cheer squad a two fingered salute followed by a big “get stuffed” to get Vic/Tas off to a flyer. Dangerwood submitted a lazy 300 between them for the Stench to justify their selection at the table. Rumour has it Selwood gave @graeme a call prior to final selection and threatened to break his legs with a 2012 bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape if he named him emergency again. The Misses : @Len has found the reason for the odour in the change rooms with Misfit Rory Laird stinking it up with a 59, and Mummy missed his cobalt shot and only polled a 78. On the Vic/Tas side there were questions being asked at Wineglass Bay with Sloane fumbling to an 89 and the out house at the Dirigibles smelt more like Werribee than Lovely Banks with Rance having a substandard 62. Scores are below for those interested…. More to come next week. Vic / Tas : 805 / 8 Round 1 Michael Hurley 77 Alex Rance 62 Rory Sloane 89 Scott Pendlebury 108 Dustin MARTIN 165 Elliot Yeo 103 Toby Nankervis 83 Zac Merrett 118 Still to come: S. Docherty, K. Simpson, M. Bontempelli, M. Kreuzer M. Wallis, I. Heeney, D. Zorko Playing this week: Hurley, Sloane, Bontempelli, Pendlebury, Merrett, Docherty, Simpson, Kreuzer, Wallis, Heeney, Zorko The Others : 840 / 8 Taylor Adams 105 Rory Laird 59 Patrick Dangerfield 149 Tom Mitchell 105 Shane Mumford 78 Jeremy Cameron 87 Lachie Neale 106 Joel Selwood 151 Still to come: D. Roberton, T. McDonald, M. Murphy, S. Ross, J. Macrae, L. Franklin Playing this week: Adams, Laird, Mitchell, Mumford, Cameron, Neale, Roberton, McDonald, Murphy, Ross, Macrae, Franklin
@Bandit Hey mate, just a little correction, still to come for the Vic/Tas team, Kreuzer instead of S.Martin, unless that got changed after I last checked? No stress just thought I'd give it the mention Appreciate all the effort
Thanks for that info @JC and for the feedback, I have updated the Others article . It explains why I didn't know when Tom McDonald was drafted as I don't have any details for the 2012 MSD. The 2012 MSD might be one of the 'Lost threads', I could find a thread with the discussion but not the actual draft itself. I have got a spreadsheet with each of the selections at the other PSD's and MSD's although I am missing a handful of selections right at the end of a couple of drafts.
From memory Dean we did one as a blog, hated it and wont do it again, I didn't think it was that one but might have been, either way I probably have the data, will check and send if I do
No worries, Dean. I don't have a copy of that MSD either but somehow I remember taking him in that draft. I was able to confirm in a roundabout way by looking at my squad changes from 2012 to 2013.
Sorry mate, turns out I didn't start running the drafts until the 2013 PSD, though I did keep the base record of the 2012 PSD
