The byes are finally in the rear view mirror, and the stretch into the finals has properly begun.

Hopefully your team is in a position where you can hold onto your trades until the finals, or if you're still in the hunt for the overall, in the hunt for the overall.

Scorewise I did alright, I think, particularly with the Steele-induced-donut, but it was irrelevant for my cash league, cause the other guy was proper unprepared for it. 11 Byes on the field kinda unprepared.

    Teeheehee.

Structure wise, I have 10 trades, $100k in the bank and still need to upgrade SPP. Not sure where the dollars for that is going to come from though. :D

    How you guys shaping up?

Yeah, tough choice. I'm backing you in to make the right one though, since you're clearly so good this year :D

In a similar situation and have been looking to try to find value in the midish 500k range. On my radar for the past few weeks had been zorko and didn't trade him in cause I wasn't entirely convinced about his scoring pattern with beams and rocky in the team. I thought he might be scoring better when 1 or other of them was out. Regretting not getting him in now. Fantastic 3 and 5 round average and fairly convinced that it doesn't seem to matter too much whether beams or rocky in the side for him to score well. Really consistent all year.

I would be getting him as my 1st choice but think the price is too high. Can I ask why neale doesn't figure?

Out of those listed my vote goes to sloane.

What about Zorko? I've had him all year & he has been super solid. Playing a lot in the mids and love floating down to kick a goal. From the games I have seen, when within range, even if a handball option is on, he prefers to have a shot at goal! Only 10% have him. Kelly is a gun. Won a nice multi with him a few weeks back on the dons game. He seemed to float around effortlessly in that game. Would also expect the giants to fly home. If u want someone that only 0.7% have, Gibbs is your man. He had a 140 a couple of weeks back as well, so fair to say he is having a bit of a purple patch!

Thanks guys. Good suggestions. I basically listed guys that i was considering preseason, but youve put up some other very good options too. Food for thought.

1754. 12 trades and $218k. 2 fwds and a mid and maybe Newman to go. Climbed from 25k to 12.5k during byes. Was 45k after R3, so decided to hold back a few trade and hope they come in handy to win my cash league. What are people's thoughts on Newman. Have docherty, laird, Adams, Hobert and shaw. He currently has the 12th best average, so will be the last to upgrade. Anyone out there planning to hold him or time to cash him in cos he is a rook, and all good things must come to an end.

For my team it is a hold all year case for Newman. I'm doing a very direct and straight swap this week in JJ to Lloyd, because I've given JJ plenty of opportunities to turn it around, but he's simply getting bullied on the field and can't handle it

I personally am holding Newman for now, seems a wasted trade ATM. Although if all your other positions are full premo take the plunge.

Agree that Zorko is a really good option especially if you need a POD which he is that has a huge ceiling which he does. The other id be looking at would be zac merrett, absolute ball magnet who for some reason is hardly ever tagged, is there a reason you havent mentioned him?

Trades this week for me are fairly simple, Lloyd comes in but have not decided who goes out, marchbank or stewart. Probably marchbank as stewart has more coin yet to make but the former would be a better bench option for the run home. I also have sandilands martin and nankervis all in the ruckline (with no ruck mpp up forward) this was done for the bye rounds while sandilands was injured but now theyre over nank has to go back forward so time to cash in hannan even though he still has at least another weeks cash to make. That trade will provide over 200k in cash. What im wondering is if its worth paying the extra 20k for buzza from the cats, is he likely to get a game at some stage or just pay 20 grand less and get strandica to provide the link with nankervis?

IMO the best strategy is to pick Strndica over Buzza unless Buzza is named to play this week.

1783 for me this week - good enough for 6/8 league wins and to move me back up 89 places overall to be sitting at #321 overall.

Around 900 points behind the leader and 500 points out of the top 10. Getting tough now...

8 trades and $83k in the bank. Full premium bar Scott Selwood at M8 - what to do with him now? I'll probably hold and let him make another $100k before a late season trade or just keep him as M9 cover. That said, I'll be very tempted to flick him to an extreme POD this week if he misses to try and gain some quick points back.

Will probably do the obvious Witts -> Gawn in 2 weeks + looking at the obvious value again this week in Lloyd.

I've had enough of my POD JJ's tag effected spud scores - this POD has turned into a PO :poop: lately and I can't see why other teams won't do the same if it's working - ala Sloane the Crows...

Disappointed with my teams output during the bye stretch overall (was hoping to climb into the top 100 @anthak style - go you good thing!!) but slipped back 31 spots instead.

Main problem seems to be the fact that I got sucked into the obvious "value" of Tom Lynch and got him in over Heeney - believed reports about him napping regularly and still having issues with glandular fever - probably a case of too much info / disinformation. With a full "premo" forward line now is it too late to get Heeney in? Still have the Nank so considering keeping him just as R/F cover and F7 loophole.

Also had an unfortunate phone / net issue while out at a pub mean I missed out on trading in Rockliff (which looks like a blessing in disguise - but this put me 1 upgrade & 1 week behind in my plans + cost me some points). Ended up grabbing Ablett instead the following week so we'll see how that plays out.

On a positive note, stuck to my plan of keeping Newman at D6 and saved a trade there + held Hannan at F7 who's still ticking along nicely and should help out with $$ for any final moves.

Looking forward to hopefully not fielding any more rookies from here on out! :D

I'd stay away from Sloane mate - more of an advantage not having him while he is working out how to play through these tags. Ablett on the other hand copped it all game last week and still almost cracked the tonne! Is he back for real though? Shoulder solid now?

I would look at the teams above you overall that you rate the most likely to win the thing and choose a mid that is a POD from those teams - ignore the overall % owned - you're only concerned with a select few.

Picking a Zorko, Ross, Zerrett, Gibbs, Wines, etc could win the thing for you!!

Good luck mate whichever way you go! I'll be chasing :p

Cousins is out for the hawks for anyone considering playing him at M9 or trading him in this week

Thanks for all the replies, guys. Definitely got me thinking :)
I strongly considered some others named, especially Zorko, Neale and Gibbs, but in the end i think im gonna go with insider and mick and go for GOAT GAJ.

He's in 20 of the top100 teams, so not as big a pod up top as he is overall, but can still give me an advantage over many if he does well. GC mids have a good ticker rating for rest of the year too, better than pretty much any other team.

Ive changed my mind! Im gonna go with Neale I think. Seems to be safer, cheaper, and more of a POD.

I knew GAJ was in 20 of the top100 teams, but I had a closer look and most of those teams are above me. Before the Freo bye, Neale was in only 8 top100 teams. Because they had a bye last week, I cant drill down to see if those 8 teams are above me or below me, but either way it wont matter too much, 8 is not that high. Sure, now theyve had a bye, more might jump on him.

Part of my reasoning with this is because Scooter's injury does not seem so bad, so I would like to keep him as a M9/10. All of Geelong's games in the run home are Friday or Saturday, so I might be able to loophole him in if he does well any week. By trading out SPP instead of Scooter, I wouldnt have enough $$ to bring in GAJ and a playing rookie. I did consider someone like McNiece for loopholing, but I think I'd rather bring in a playing rook at this stage.

Furthermore, I also still have cover this week if Scooter doesnt play with Shai Bolton in the mids and Luke Ryan in def.

Also, Neale and GAJ have had fairly similar seasons in terms of scoring. Neale is currently 5th best scorer. So he is difficult to ignore based on all of the above.

The only thing is that I can kinda see GAJ come out and ave 120+ from here on, he is in that kinda form. But he also quite likely might not, and he is also more injury prone.

Happy 300th to him anyway. GOAT SC but I think im gonna pass.

Not many people voted in this, but nobody picked Bont. I ended up going Neale, which I think was a smart decision, and will hopefully pay off over the long haul, but he scored about 45 points less than Bont this week.
Half of the top100 have Bont, and Neale is more of a POD, but I'm hoping it doesn't hurt me too much
