Round 16 (AFL 19) 28/7 - 30/7 Fantasy Stalwarts Appreciation round We pause for a minute applause to honour those cool cats that rock up week in-week out and just do the business. Possibly the strongest team the Warriors have fielded this season, but that won't save us. DEF: Suckling, Tarrant, Johannisen, Andrews (Marchbank) MID: Wines, Boak, Smith, Gray (Ainsworth) RUC: Simpson FWD: Lambert, Patton, Kennedy, Cameron (Butler) I/C: Gibson, Douglas (Mcintosh) We also have a new coach's box:
We seem to have pressed the button at the same time @Len. No wonder GWS have so many draws. Can you do the necessary and merge please? I am singularly lacking in technical competence, but you already knew that.
Team training for the Warriors was a little different this week with a focus on going hard at the contest:
No Mumford or Goldy this week for the Chooks (what's the point of two 100 point ruckmen if they don't play). With crisis comes opportunity. We are going to try and play Libba back into form by giving him a run in the ruck. He was good in this role for the Vietnam Tigers, so hopefully he can repeat some of the magic.
Cradle Mountain Devils Round 16 team In: T Membrey, H Himmelberg, J Roughead Out: D Zorko (suspended) L Spurr (calf), S Johnson (knee) Def: M Hurley, Z Jones, N Vlastuin, H Himmelberg (J Gresham) Mid: D Heppell, S Grigg, D Zaharakis, L Shiels Ruc: T Nankervis Fwd: J Steele, T Lynch, W Hoskin-Elliot, T Membrey(C Pedersen) Inter: J Redden, J Roughead (T English) After having Scott Pendlebury as Devils captain for the entire 2015 & 2016 seasons and the vast majority of the 2017 season the Devils are going to have three different captains in three weeks. Regular Devils vice-captain Dayne Zorko was the captain for the win against Lovely Banks and was instructed by head coach Dean Andrews to lead by example and show some fight in an attempt to arrest CMD’s form slump. Zorko got off to a blistering start and easily attained the five Les W Medal votes which helped CMD record a much needed win however he took the instruction to ‘show some fight’ a little too literally and got reported for two separate instances, one of which resulted in a one game suspension for striking. Leadership group member Dyson Heppell will captain the Devils against the Wineglass Bay Packers and wont be receiving any additional instructions from the Devils coaching staff. Two Devils veterans are out of the side with injury – Lee Spurr with a calf injury and Stevie J with a recurring knee injury. Cradle Mountain’s players that are over 27 years of age are dropping like flies and only one of them will play against the Packers being Shaun Grigg. Two other players in the Devils older brigade were added to the injury list a week earlier in Pendlebury – finger and Gilbert – hand. Tim Membrey returns from suspension to strengthen the forward line. The Devils could have really used one of those 70 point defenders mentioned by Len in the OP. With a lack of defenders available Harrison Himmelberg has been selected as D4, however if he is a late out CMD will experiment with Jade Gresham played OOP in this role. Having played very little ORFFA football before 2017 Toby Nankervis is tiring, to help mitigate this we have named Jordan Roughead on the bench so that ruck duties can be shared with Nank. With Zorko out Liam Shiels has been promoted to the midfield and has been assigned a run-with role on Rory Sloane. The profile for the Devils Tom Lynch in the ORFFA Prospectus 2017 said “He is a star, but still not the best Tom Lynch in the competition. Stiff.” Lynch has been reminded of this throughout the season by his team-mates which has ensured that he hasn’t had an individual premiership hangover. The Devils Tom Lynch is averaging 87 points per game, slightly ahead of the Packers Tom Lynch with 84 points. The Devils most consistent player of 2017 – Michael Hurley has been given the role on the Packers Tom Lynch. Which Tom Lynch can perform better on the weekend is likely to play a crucial part in determining which team wins the Round 16 Apple Isle clash.
Misfits primed for a ruckless but determined Foul Bay; Unchanged, damn that sounds good DEFENDER Rory Laird, Zachary Williams, Jake Lloyd, Nick Haynes - Adam Tomlinson MIDFIELDER Josh Kelly, Marc Murphy, Lachie Whitfield, Callan Ward - Luke Dunstan RUCK Patrick Ryder FORWARD Joe Daniher, Devon Smith, Caleb Daniel, Jamie Elliott - Ben Keays INTERCHANGE Daniel Rich, Orazio Fantasia - Matthew Kennedy
A very strong side TiB. If I was allowed to bet on a Cockies game I would get down to ChiefBet and chuck $5 on you to win and make finals. I'm tipping JJK to go particularly huge against a depleted Lions side. I still haven't decided on my side to come up against you. I'll try to post it in here once I'm done.
No stalwarts left at the Lagoon but the TS gods have shined upon us this week and allowed us to go all Doppelganger. Not sure if it will give us the win, but we'll give it a shot. #howtoouttankthetanker
Spelunkers team taking on the molly dookers. AFL coaches making my delisting process complicated by now playing guys who haven't had a run all year DEF: Shane Savage, Cale Hooker, Oscar McDonald, Luke Brown, (Griffin Logue) MID: Zac Merrett, Marcus Bontempelli, Stephen Hill, Sam Petrevski-Seton (Darcy Tucker) RUCK: Ben McEvoy FWD: Jack Gunston, Mitch McGovern, Jake Carlisle, Mark LeCras (Jack Lonie) INT: Sean Darcy, Liam Duggan (Jackson Thurlow)
Seems odd that in this the stalwart round SMitch and Priddis announce their retirements. Cows to play the 'hoppers look like being: D - M Hibberd, J McGovern, J McVeigh, D Howe (B Williams) M - N Fyfe, D Hannebery, S Menegola, A Hall R - S Jacobs F - R Burton, T McLean, T Papley, B Parfitt (J Allison) I/E - T Mitchell, N Newman Out - B Crouch (injured), D Prestia (injured), T Menzel (managed) In - B Parfitt, J Allison (debut perhaps?)
Battlers fielding a full compliment this week. We even have an emergency!! In: Luke Ryan, Mav Weller and Luke Partington, who finally gets his chance to debut Out: Jesse Lonergan On a non-fantasy related note, great to see young Sam Skinner named to debut this week. Must have been heartbreaking for him when he did his knee last year just 2 days before he was to play his first game. So it's terrific to see him make his way back.
Packers team DEFENDER Lachie Henderson, Nathan Wilson, Andrew McGrath, Marley Williams - (Jimmy Webster) MIDFIELDER Rory Sloane, David Mundy, Tom SCULLY, Sam Kerridge - (Danyle Pearce) RUCK Braydon Preus FORWARD Tom Lynch, Alex Neal-Bullen, George Hewett, Majak DAW INTERCHANGE Anthony Miles, Alexander FASOLO - (Cameron McCarthy)
That's a pretty low blow m8, although she is not a bad looker ..... Don't try and tempt the younger guys while we are rebuilding. Just remember 'hoppers look pretty flat after a herd of cows have stepped on them. Oh no. Please get your finger off the button SnOz, not the nukes.
