    Gentlemen,

Its currently myself and Choppers on the board.
We're both happy for this to be a two-man gig, with some assistance from others it keeping things ticking over, but if anyone would like to nominate for the board, then please do-so here.

Its not a huge concern either way. As a league, the 'FU has pretty-much completed all the major decisions, so there isn't too much foreseen work to do, other than just helping to keep things running as smoothly as possible.

No-one is obliged to do this.

OK folks, your beloved 2 man Committee has got together and we've come up with the following Pre-Season Schedule for 2018.

De-listings - up to midnight 24th December 17 (maximum team limit of 24 players)

Preseason Draft – 1st Jan 18 to 31st Jan 18 (with 12hr time limit to commence 8am 8th January 2018 AEDT and a mandatory break every night from the 8th, between midnight and 8am)

    Preseason Trade Period – 1st Feb 18 to 18th Mar 18

Start of the Season Thursday 22nd Mar 18

Check it out and if you think it can be improved somewhere, let either JPK or myself know asap, so we can dismiss your suggestion at the earliest moment...;)

Draft in January is going to be problematic given most people are on holidays/limited internet connections/etc.

I would have thought after Australia Day would have made sense.

I like the idea of going really early, only if i can get my "prospectus" by then which there were delays last year. Id prefer a mid jan start

With your 1st pick at 52, it WILL be a mid-January start for you....;);););)

I for one will be out of range until the 6th or 7th up bush unless reception has improved in the last 12 months!

Wouldn't be against a start on the Jan 8 which is when the majority of ppl I assume will be dragging their over indulged arses back to work!

all fair points that people have raised, however the fact that the board has seen fit to open drafting on the 1st, yet not enforce the 12hr time limit until the 8th, kind of says that it's 'optional'. In other words, if you're around and available then by all means take your pick; otherwise the whips will start cracking @ 0800 the 8th of January.
At least that's what I'm reading between the lines by the well constructed schedule Chop has done

But it's pretty easy to see what will happen - people will be complaining that it's "taking too long" and we'll play out the same discussions that we have every draft.

That was our intention......that participation in the draft is optional up to 8am, 8th January.

But Damo and tyze have both raised good points.

But it's an easy problem to get around, as I have Pick #1. All bribes will be considered as to when I start.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    The idea was three-fold:
    1. Appease the impatient ones by starting the draft asap.
    2. Go easy on those on holidays, by not starting the clock until Jan 8th.
    3. Make sure we get through everyone's picks before the pre-season footy starts
Still, as Chops said, we're open to listening to your concerns, and then dismissing them as quickly as possible while showing less interest than ..... whatever.

"Make sure we get through everyone's picks before the pre-season footy starts" Vikings are extremely satisfied with point 3.

I'll be on holidays until the 9th and doubt I'll be around much the first week and a bit of Jan.

Think I prefer what we did last year which was a late Jan start. We still got through the draft fairly quickly from memory

I believe the draft needs to be completed by 23rd February, prior to the JLT pre-season comp starting, and this year everyone needs to take a minimum of 4 picks so the draft may take longer than previous seasons.
The later we start and finish, then the shorter the trading period that occurs after the draft and prior to the AFL season starting on
    Thursday, 22nd March.

I like the plan. Mainly coz I will be around most of the time over Xmas. Should give us plenty of time to make it all happen.

Sorry for my absence in recent times.

I'm happy to start as early as is wanted, gives more time to do different things with squads.
