@bryzza atm I've got Heeney, Billings, Dahl, Christensen + rookies. @JPK that's a lot of coin on the bench mate
ill use billings as an example but it applies to most players who breakout to avg in the 90's. The best you could expect billings to achieve would be to maintain his average but if that is best outcome then you are paying overs for him and as a forward/mid it's rare to expect anymore. Now if he was to make a permanent move to the midfield he then could increase his average but that can not be guaranteed given the saints midfield. Another example would be robbie gray would played predominately forward his average decreased to his lowest in four years, i'd be going dahl over billings as he is proven and underpriced and if they average you have saved some $$$$$
Rookies are very subject to change. Whole team is very subject to change..... As for too many forward rookies, I don't trust premium forwards this far out (even during the season I have my doubts). Plus, I tend to take an overall balance approach. You want to start with 12-odd definite keepers, and 18 rookies / cash cows (give or take). To my mind, it doesn't really make a difference where these players are on the field, just as long as I have the approximate number of keepers from the start, one-or-two speculation mid-pricers (Jaeger and Dunstan right now), and the rest will be milked and culled as the season goes on. But once again... very subject to change!!!
id add a mid pricer to your back line and with the remaining cash upgrade one of your forward rookies to a mid pricer
Collingwood: "He’s the quickest player on our list by far.. I’d expect him to play this year. He’s definitely in the mix for JLT" Nathan Buckley on Jaidyn Stephenson @eagle_eyed
COACHES CHOICE AWARDS - 2018 Overall 1 - Gawn = 57% (was 54%) 2 - NicNat = 46% (was 50%) 3 - Fyfe = 43% (was 42%) 4 - Laird = 43% (was 41%) 5 - Dave's Uniacke = 40% (was 39%) 6 - Heeney = 40% (was 39%) 7 - Higgo = 38% (was 36%) 8 - Dusty = 38% (was 37%) 9 - Garlett = 37% (was 37%) 10 - Ahern = 36% (NEW) In - Ahern Out - Danger Dangers only in one third of team's, his price must be putting coaches off ...... not me but i do have six of the top ten
A very different line up there @bryzza I really dont like that FWD line, but who knows with this game! Hannebery burnt me big time last year, he is currently on my "never again" list. I do like the rest of the guts though, could score well right out of the gate.
O'Meara might be worth a punt for those sitting on the fence... https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/ha...p/news-story/168c76af8c1543f828aafe0f6c3e0fe7 Got to love this bit of the article "O’Meara endured an interrupted debut season with the Hawks after his sensational trade from the Gold Coast Sins."
What's your thoughts on Lobb in the Ruck.. noting Mummy is gonski, could be next years breakout Ruck?
with scores of 108 and 129 in his last two as sole ruck he is worth considering but at $400k and fwd only it's a huge gamble ...... doesnt fit my structure only if he was a ruck but then everyone would have him
Re Lobb, I think it's unlikely he plays 22 games, he has been "managing" a groin injury all pre-season. Possibly worth a risk starting him in AFL Fantasy where he will be ruck eligable at the first change
Finally pulled the finger out and entered an interim team. As with most, will change a million times prior to round 1 but if anyone’s interested (especially in light of my record-worst performance last year) here is my early team:
