If we do a trade during this draft and it’s 1 for 1, ie a pick for pick, or pick for player, can we also include picks from next years PSD too, or is that only allowed after the conclusion of this draft?
Nathan Freeman didn’t even last a day on Gariwerd’s list, after being a key part of two draft-day trades! Just a few days ago I’d looked up which clubs owned Freeman because I thought he could be a good target with a lot of potential, so I jumped at the chance when he was tabled by @snoz We were initially stoked to welcome the lad to Gariwerd, but then before he’d even got into the bus from Gundagai we got hold off him to suggest holding back for a bit. After reaching out to several clubs we were able to find a loving home for him in Mt Beauty! We wish you, @bama and Nathan all the best. I’m happy to have landed Cam O’Shea. He fills a need for me in the Gariwerd magoos defence and might even be an emergency for the ones on occasion.
Well aware, been watching eagerly for a while so keen to take part and quite hopeful he doesn't snare one particular player I'm keen on or else he might receive the ultimate "get stuffed"
Whilst I have been the recipient of a 'get stuffed' a couple of times during the 2018 PSD I haven’t had to dish any out. The plan at the start of the draft was for Cradle Mountain to select 2 young players – 1 fwd and 1 def and 2 experienced players - again 1 fwd and 1 def. With my first selection at pick 14 I was able to get the young pure defender I wanted in Aaron Naughton. Initial plan was to pick a young forward at pick 32 but after doing a bit more research I changed tack and picked experienced defender Paul Seedsman at 32 as I had very little separating a few young forwards and a bit of a buffer between Seedsman and other exp. def. The next young forward on my list after D/F Brander was taken at 22 was Brent Daniels who was still available at pick 43 so the change in strategy paid off as Seedsman wouldn’t have made it through to my third pick. The pool of experienced forwards was pretty shallow so I was happy to acquire Liam Picken at pick 50. The 2018 PSD continued a historical theme in the ORFFA where the Devils have got a poor win-loss record in close games, but these close losses have contributed to the Devils having better draft picks and being able to select the players they have targeted at pre-season and mid-season drafts.
Yeah I couldn't have drafted much faster there haha, Crowden was a late call up to my list but I've been grown very keen on him and have been on edge the last half dozen picks hoping he'd be available
Crowden is a very good get this late in the draft, when I selected Brent Daniels at 43 Crowden was the third young forward on my list. Crowden being a dual-position player is a plus, he has shown he can get plenty of the ball and it is probably going to easier for him to break into the Freo side than most other AFL sides.
He left his pick with me, which I’ve now taken on his behalf. @Fitzy might be out on the town or curled up in bed though
