Relton said it's always handy to have a backup ruck and well the cupboard is not well stocked. Relton normally likes the look of McKernan but decided to go with the mad relative of Ivan Maric. Welcome to HDH Ivan Soldo (Rich)
I have an all day tour tomorrow and wont be online until after 10pm Sydney time, @JC has a list of 6 names, if I get the 6th one it's a player I rated 28th best in the draft, just couldn't justify the role pick, weird draft, still 20+ players on the board I'd be happy to find a spot for
Sorry all, been bed ridden the past couple of days and forgot to check this until now 105 - Kayle Kirby
SLAPDASH DRAFT REVIEWby club DJD 1. DJD - Cameron Rayner 19. DJD - Charlie Constable 37. DJD - Charlie Spargo 55. DJD - Brayden Ainsworth 73. DJD - Hamish Brayshaw 91. DJD - Harrison Petty With a midfield as bad as they inherited (is Masten still their M2?), but retaining one of the better DEF and RUC lines along with a serviceable FWD line, naturally I thought new coach @TerryinBangkok would target the middle of the field in accordance with what was on offer in the draft. I guess he did in a substantial way, however it was different to how I would have gone about it. Bypassing premium, and above all safe, rookie MIDs like LDU, Dow and A Brayshaw for arguably the best talent in the draft, but a talent residing in the FWD 50 with big question marks on his ability to move out of it to larger, greener pastures. This selection was followed up with a selection of midfield types that while not stunning in their brilliance, will give an honest account of themselves if given the opportunity. Which is another question to consider. Spargo finds himself at a Melbourne side with a rather long line of talented young players desperate to get a regular gig in the seniors. Ainsworth and Brayshaw on the other hand definitely have opportunities in a West Coast midfield, though I do wonder about Simpson's inclinations in playing youngsters. Petty, I know nothing about, other than his father's musical legacy (which doesn't seem entirely relevant).
SLAPDASH DRAFT REVIEWby club WAR 2. WAR - Luke Davies-Uniacke 20. WAR - Ed Richards 38. WAR - Riley Bonner 56. WAR - Shaun Atley 74. WAR - Bernie Vince 92. WAR - David Cuningham Warburton needed a DEF even more than DJD needed a MID, however @EddieV just couldn't go past the absolute homer in LDU. I understand it. You're rebuilding and facing heavy losses week after week, and you want some kind of promise of tomorrow, and what better promise than a homegrown one to cheer for. Warburton then targeted their area of need in drafting Richards, who strikes me a bit as a Rohan-type - and not just because of his read hair. Honestly think they would've been better served with Witherden first up, followed by a Kelly, but homers gonna home, and I understand. Following on from this Warburton drafted a mixture of young flankers with potential and known flankers without it. Those known flankers do however have great job security for this season and Vince could even get back to an 85+ avg. Not that it will do much for Warburton in the long run.
Pick 114, Knightriders are forced to pick a player that was never on our radar, but positional needs et al Fraser McInnes WCE - Ruck/Fwd
