Pakenhams team for our big first round matchup against Coolgardie. With every win important it’s going to be an exciting matchup. We would love to start the year with a win and we think this team can get it done.

B: Simpson, Mullett, Johanisen, Carlisle (Hughes)
    M: Sidebum, Gaff, Newnes, Blicavs
    R: Bellchambers
    F: Buddy, Hogan, Moore, Hipwood
    I: Sinclair, Cerra

New: Cerra. With a high pick invested on the young fella we hope he gets a run and can deliver on his worth.

It will be an interesting year for the Parasites, with a lot of fringe b grade talent, one or two stars and some untried prospects it may be a long year.
We are hoping that some of our talent may be able to take the next step and our jnrs get some game time to help the team build towards the future. If things can go our way and our squad can keep improving like we think they can and have drafted for then who knows what spot on the ladder we can finish. No real finals thoughts this year for us at this stage but who knows...footy and fantasy sport can be a funny game sometimes.
Good luck to all for the season ahead

Round One sees last year’s Minor Premiers Southern Cross, host runners up Nuytsland. Neither team made it to the last day in 2017 and no doubt both will be hoping to go deeper into the finals this year. Both squads however have been hit with injuries to new recruits and important players with the Sandgropers missing Crouch & Prestia as well as maybe Mcveigh & Wallis; the Vikings will travel without Viney, Griffen & Birchall. It’ll be a tough match but I expect it to come down to a battle between the home side’s defenders and the visitor’s forwards, with Southern Cross getting home in a close one.

Southern Cross started 1&3 last year but then went 12&1 to finish top of the table; we’re hoping for a better start this year and are confident we have the team to challenge. First team regulars Stringer & Darling don’t even make the bench displaying the improved depth in the Goldfields.

Your Southern Cross Sandgropers for the visit of @bryzza ’s Nuytsland Vikings

    DEF: M.Hurley, M.Hibberd, J.McGovern, J.Mcveigh (D.Howard)
    MID: M.Duncan, N.Fyfe, J.Selwood, B.Cunnington (J.Stephenson)
    RUC: P.Ryder
    FWD: M.Wallis, D.Smith, J.Harmes, H.Crozier (C.Rioli)
    INT: M.Kennedy, H.Taylor (Jo.Roughead)

    Go Gropers!

*M.Kennedy locked in, the rest of the side is subject to selection.

Round 1 Korumburra Blowflys at Hughenden Prairie Dogs

    (with 2018 season preview)

Some massive ins (and outs) sees a strong Blowflys side (on paper) ready to roll into Hughenden to take on the Prairie Dogs. The big trio returning from injury will have an immediate impact, with the SC GOAT Gary Ablett Jnr. refreshed after recovering from his niggles and having his best pre-season in many years. The entire township of Korumburra have their fingers crossed that his soon to be 34 year old body stays in one piece this season. Michael Barlow will bring solid consistency and leadership to the side, while many are tipping young superstar in the making, Michael Walters, to have a massive break out year.

Captain Rory Sloane will lead from the front, this warrior knows nothing else. Jack Redden is primed to do more grunt work in and under the packs for the Flys this year. Billy Hartung looks even fitter heading into this season and should provide plenty of line breaking pace, run and carry. After burning up the track in the off season, big Todd Goldstein is confident of a return to his BAFFU winning form. The frighteningly aggressive behemoth that is Braydon Preuss will be waiting in the wings if that doesn't happen. The next big thing, Sean Darcy will most likely bide his time for another year along with the steadily improving US project Mason Cox.

New recruit Nick Vlastuin was specifically recruited to help fill the massive void left behind by the loss of the #1 defender in the ORFFU, Sam Docherty to a season ending ACL injury. Big hopes rest on Nick's performance this season. After being talked out of retirement last year with the lure of one last crack at an ORFFU flag, Luke Hodge will be instrumental in leading and directing the young back line. Steady improvement is expected from young designated kicker Jimmy Webster and speedster Jayden Hunt. The recently drafted youngsters Adam Tomlinson and Zach Guthrie will provide depth down back and hope to gain some senior experience this year.

The other ready to go new addition to the Blowflys squad is young Josh Dunkley who will provide tackling pressure and goals up forward and rotate more and more through the midfield as he settles into the KB system. Sam Menegola and George Hewett will play similar roles, both looking set for big years. Second year players Ben Ainsworth, Jordan Gallucci and Ollie Florent will all be working hard to earn a spot in the side at some stage this year while Big Cale Hooker and the excitement machine that is Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti should provide plenty of goals for the mighty Blowflys.

All in all, the 2018 KB squad looks solid across all lines and we have our sights firmly set on another crack at the finals!
    We are buzzing!!

    In : G. Ablett, M. Walters, M. Barlow, N. Vlastuin, J Hunt, J. Dunkley

    Out: S. Docherty (knee - season) B. Ainsworth (omitted) A. McDonald-Tipungwuti (omitted)
    B. Goddard (traded) L. Picken (traded) S. Johnson (retired)

    New : N. Vlastuin, J. Dunkley

    D - L. Hodge, N. Vlastuin, J. Webster, J Hunt (EMG. A. Tomlinson)

Round 1 is finally here! The Buffaloes will wait until they are home to unfurl the premiership flag and instead are travelling out to Gisborne to kick off the season against @Tomster 's Grenades.

It hasn't been a great start to the year with Selwood, Elliott, Adams, Gleeson, Ahern & Wright all injured or underdone to be unavailable round 1 and in an even bigger blow, captain Danger will also miss the start to the season. Despite that, the boys are confident of starting well and bringing back 4 points to the Serengeti plains.

D: Steven May, Tom Langdon, Nick Haynes, Kade Kolodjashnij
M: Josh Kelly, Zac Merrett, Scott Pendlebury, Jack Steven (Constable)
    R: Billy Longer (Hickey)
F: Charlie Dixon, Jeremy Cameron, Joe Daniher, Allen Christensen (Bolton)
    I: Ben Brown, Paddy McCartin

New: Kolodjashnij, Pendlebury, Cameron, Christensen, Brown
