Round 1 of season 3 is fast approaching and all 16 clubs are no doubt awaiting AFL team selection hopefully as they look to start the season with a win. The Round 1 fixture with 2017 H&A ladder positions is:- Neptune Island Noahs (5th) vs MacQuarie Island Whales (7th) - the losing Semi Finalists from 2017 clash in an 8 point match to commence the new season. Their 2017 clash was a low scoring affair in Round 17 and the Noahs will be keen to atone for a 28 point loss in the Southern Ocean while the Whales will look to even the all time Head to Head at 2 all after losing both clashes on the road in 2016 including the Prelim Final. Rutherglen Fugitives (6th) vs Useless Loop Virgins (8th) - the losing Elimination Finalists from 2017 face off. While the all time Head to Head sits at 1 apiece when they last clashed in Round 4 of 2017 the Virgins were annihiilated, narrowly avoiding a 300 point loss. Notably both previous clashes have been won by the home side. Jan Juc Ducks (4th) vs Cockburn Avengers (11th) The ageing ducks clash with their polar opposites the Avengers who keep getting younger albeit at the expense of trading out high scoring veterans. The all time Head to Head is even at 1 apiece, while the greybeards prevailed by 65 points the last time the 2 sides met - in Round 5, 2017. Once more both previous clashes have been won by the home side. Drouin Dropbears (3rd) vs Black Swamp 29ers (13th) Twice the Triple F Bridesmaids Stowie's side will start as heavy favourites to waltz it in against a 29ers side that lost all of it's 2016 swagger in a hugely disappointing 2017 season. Drouin remains undefeated against the 29ers and Round 2, 2017 saw a triple digit victory for the Vics over the NSW side. Mole Creek Glow-Worms (16th) vs Mt Thirsty Boozers (1st) - the wooden spooners lost 4 straight to end 2017 and host the premiers who are looking to extend their ORFFF record 12 match consecutive win streak. The bookies have the Boozers as record favourites to deliver a spanking to a side they defeated by over 200 points in their previous match in Round 2, 2017 and make it 3 on the trot in the all time Head to Head. Walpole Woylies (2nd) vs Nangkita Bucks (15th) - the Woylies improved massively in 2017 and their age profile suggests substantial improvement should occur again in 2018. The Bucks have lost 10 straight games and will be looking to contain the damage as ahead of a Round 2 clash with the Glow-Worms who hold the current competition record of 11 consecutive losses. The all time Head to head is 2 nil to the Woylies including their only win of 2016. These 2 sides last clashed in Round 14, 2017 with the Woylies prevailing comfortably. Maralinga Atoms (9th) vs Heard Island Shags (10th) - these two were the best teams outside the 8 last year and the Shags will need to live up to high pre-season expectations if they are to notch their first victory in 3 tries against the Atoms. Last season Maralinga prevailed by triple figures in Round 7. Wedge Island WhitePointers (12th) vs Port Lincoln Power (14th) - both teams had few moments to savour in 2017 however Port Lincoln won the match that mattered most in Round 8 last season to maintain a perfect household derby record. Team entry can be done at http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagues.php?leagueId=14 (just click the green button under Submit Team). If I remember correctly in 2016 and 2017 the ORFFF had a partial lockout for Thursday night matches. You should make sure that any Carlton and Richmond players are in their spots before the Thursday night game starts. Good luck all.

Some might suggest it's exactly like the Blues kicking the first 5 in last night's game against the reigning AFL premiers.

The Dangerless Dropbears quest for back-to-back-to-back Grand Final losses has commenced slowly with the home side 5/277 (including an apparent IC donut) leading the visiting 29ers 3/216 at quarter time following a dour opening term.
Boozers long winning streak looks like coming to an end with a monster upset looming for the glow worms. Boozers trail 10-816 vs 10-875 When Titch outscores Murphy rocky and Sinclair combined. You know we are in trouble. New additions Brown 21 and McDonald 68 don't belong in the boozers starting 15 and may be sent back to the twos to get some form. Ryder's long term injury and no ruck cover for the reigning premiers, may make this season more about struggling to make finals.
Which players are running out for both teams on Sunday @leematty1 ? If they all score their 2017 avg today who wins and by how much ?
A free flowing contest between the Fugitives and the Virgins sees the virgins with a narrow lead, the Fugitives have one extra player up their sleeve in a contest that wont be decided until late in the fourth Fugitives 1061 / 11 / 96.5 Virgins 1101 / 12 / 92
Mole Creek B.Williams 58 O.McDonald 70 H.Crozier 62 (OOP) Heeney 98 Petracca 79 Mt.Thirsty H.Shaw 83 M.Suckling 78 L.Franklin 98 J.Cameron 89 J.Trengove 63 If each player scores at 2017 average: Boozers win 1227 vs 1211 if my maths done in my head is right!
Looks like the Boozers escape a scare. About 100 up with buddy vs heeney to come. Shaw and Cameron from the giants pulled out great games to get us over the line.
