Sorry @HOLKY but that doesn't wash. You dropped Joyce who was named, for Amon, after Adelaide's game......why take a chance on a 50/50........especially for one who didn't play in Rd1.........
This is how I see it.......You name your team on Wednesday when you had the option of putting 3 Adelaide players Kelly Atkins and Jenkins on the field. You chose to put all 3 as Emergencies...no problem You place Joyce and Trengove on your Interchange, when you could have put Jenkins there. You chose not to....no problem Adelaide play Thursday and Jenkins scores 115 as your Emergency. Then the next morning prior to Lockout, you remove Joyce (who was named for the Suns) from your team and replace him with Amon who didn't play Rd1 and was named on the Extended bench for Port....that is where I see the problem . The only reason to do that, in my opinion, was to take the chance that Amon would not play and Joyce, who only scored 40 in the 1st round, would not score 115. And the other thing I have a question for, is why you would play Joyce on the Interchange ahead of Jenkins anyway. Jenkins coming off a 71 playing away, and now plays his 2nd game at home, while Joyce is coming to Melbourne after playing in Cairns and only scoring 40....Obviously this is subjective but it bemuses me why you would do that, unless you were playing the loophole...
OK, I grant that I was playing the loophole... but when I put my team in that was a legal move. I was on the website Thursday but seeing no tags or pms I assumed everything was fine, I had already set my team up so I saw no need to check again until Friday. On Friday I find out that playing the loophole is now an illegal move and it's already too late to get Jenkins's score.
And when I switched Amon in, he was still legal to switch in. He was on the extended bench and by the time he'd been cut, the Friday full lockout was in effect.
Playing the loophole was never a legal move mate. In the ORFFU rules thread, which was posted on 9 February 2016, without using the word loophole, its clearly stated that the rule is in place to have "...the effect that the emergency player score will indeed be for an emergency". If I remember rightly, it was when we were setting up the league, because I don't remember us ever allowing the use of the loophole (its also part of the reason we don't have a rolling lockout). I'm not going to allow the Josh Jenkins score to count towards Eden's final score for round 2 (unless Jackson Trengove is a late out, thus making Jenkins a genuine emergency score, as per the rules).
@JPK With all this talk of loopholes and extended rounds, can you clarify how the rules work around the Monday game (also Queen's birthday and Anzac Day). Is everything locked in at the start of the Friday game or is the whole thing a rolling lockout? Reason being the selection committee at King Island didn't realise on Friday good old Zac Smith wouldn't be taking the field this week and we're now staring at a donut in the ruck. If we just have to suck it up that's fair enough, just thought I'd ask.
There was no specific ruling on loopholing for the first 2 years of the league, it was introduced for the start of the 2016 season.
