With 3/9th of the match left Macquarie Island is in a fair bit of trouble trailing 10/758 (75.8) to Nangkita at 10/880 with Naitanui, Tuhoy, Mclean, Impey & Astbury to play for the Whales & Nankervis, Selwood, Dahlhaus, Riewoldt & Shiels still to play for the Bucks.

The coaching staff of the Whales are trying very hard not to be too critical of the shocking performances of Hall (21) and Armitage (47), but are delighted with the showing of our recent crop of Draftees Sam Murray (95), Tom Doedee (85) & Nick Holman (82) and hopeful their efforts will inspire us to finish the match strongly.

Early in the last the 29ers have taken the lead for the first time on 12/1005 to the Avengers 13/974 and appear to be in control of the contest.

Nangkita have scored an impressive 1353 to 1203 victory over Macquarie Island with only Shiels failing to fire for the Bucks today. For the Whales a strong finish with Naitanui, Tuhoy & McLean all putting in an impressive effort but unfortunately Impey & Astbury took their inspiration from Hall & Armitage and put in an effort not reflecting the expectations of the playing group. On the bright side a 1200+ score which included 3 contributions of 50 or less is a positive sign and an indication that the club will be able to bounce back from a 1-2 start to the season and again be a competitive force in the finals.

    ORFFF Round 3 highlights
Nangkita @Dale Duivesteyn topping their previous highest score with 1353 in their 150 point win over a Mac Island @Darran side who have conceded 1300 plus in all 3 matches so far.

Neptune Island @That KI Guy, Maralinga @Brett Sanders and Black Swamp making it 3-0 for the season with wins over Useless Loop @YAD69 , Walpole @port_leschenault and Cockburn @Len respectively. The Noahs 1355 was the highest score of the round, while the Atoms and 29ers are now 3 from 3 against their Round 3 opponents.

Rutherglen @tyze1 and Mt Thirsty @leematty1 managed identical scores of 1309 as they moved into 4th and 5th on the ladder at 2-1 apiece, as they defeated Wedge Island @Bearfly and Mole Creek @ViQBoZ respectively.

Jan Juc @thokash and Heard Island @anthak notched their first wins of 2018 over Drouin @stowie and Port Lincoln @MrsBear respectively.

    ORFFF Round 3 lowlights
The lowest score of the week was the Avengers 1048, due to a donut in defence with Callum Mills stranded as Ruck Emergency, and this meant that they managed their lowest ever team score.

Drouin now languish in a very unfamilar 14th position at 0-3 and with 4 consecutive losses for the first time in club history, while Wedge Island and Mole Creek are also yet to trouble the scorers in season 2018.

    Slightly better than average
Was a 3-2 result for ORFFF teams playing in the second week of 2018 intercomp knockout. Mac Island, Cockburn and Useless Loop won through to the round of 16 despite their losses in the ORFFF league while Heard Island and Wedge Island were eliminated by their respective ORFFA and ORFFL Round 3 opposition.
