Ok so Andy needs to pull out effective immediately, I am sure I won't be the only one to miss him in the league. Hopefully he can get to a better place in the future and rejoin via a vacated spot somewhere in the ORF collegiate. We are looking for a permanent replacement, and until found a nursemaid from another league, I can set the Nuffers up for this weekend if need be
Personally... I'm sorry to see you go as well @melbandy , but real life can get in the way of this blasted association. I am fine for you Len to manage the team on a weekly basis... as an alternative if you are smashed I am happy to submit the playing squad each week until we find a new victim, errrr replacement manager. I also suggest there is an immediate halt on any trade talks involving the Nuffers players until mid season break, when the new manager can make their own calls, and decide who they can tell to get stuffed.
Ok, we have an elegant solution, @TheTassieHawk will takeover the squad as caretaker for the remainder of the year, if no regular poster not already in a league sticks their hand up by season's end the squad will be his permanently. Thanks for stepping up mate
@melbandy noooooo that sucks mate but ive been in similar spots recently, good news is at some point in the future you might free up a bit and come back for more punishment. Thanks to @TheTassieHawk for stepping up as an interim coach.
1) Are we currently in a trade period? Ergo, is it an issue? 2) Does TTH want the franchise? If yes, why wait?
Might follow TiB's template 1) If TTH wants it then I reckon all his 2) If not and we are waiting till season end, hopefully we don't have another casualty, but if we were too then an option is to reduce to a 16 team comp and having a mini draft for the players of said folded team. Could help even the comp out. Not saying its an amazing idea, and hopefully no one drops out but just a thought thats all. Sad to see Andy go, been a pleasure. And for the meantime, welcome TTH!!
I think that "1" is the plan, the only reason for delaying anything final is the widespread desire to add new committed coaches
On this (and FWIW), I'd be up for considering Option 2 if another coach has some unexpected difficulties between now and the end of season and can't commit beyond 2018. But overall, happy to go with the flow.
To the topic as a whole, and not purely in response to the discussion in this thread, for clarity; There is no point in time where there isn't the possibility of someone dropping out, the discussion on a 16 team league is not relevant until we have two people drop out at the same time, and even then is a last resort option I don't think we should have to experience. TTH has committed to the league, there is in relatively terms zero chance that the Nuffers do not have a coach at the end of this year, therefore we can start the whole circular argument about 16 teams the next time, this time is resolved. Like the rest of you I would welcome TTH as a coach but there is a long standing practice not limited to the FA, that we give new blood (reliable/sponsored new blood) an opportunity to join in, when it happens it gives the site and leagues fresh input and audience.
