Cradle Mountain Devils Round 8 2018 team vs Charlie’s Opening In: J Redden, A McDonald-Tipungwuti Out: T English (managed), J Steele (omitted) Def: M Hurley, P Seedsman, N Vlastuin, J Lever (A Naughton) Mid: S Pendlebury, D Heppell, D Zaharakis, Z Jones (J Steele) Ruck: T Nankervis Fwd: T Lynch, T Membrey, J Gresham, A McDonald-Tipungwuti (T Boyd OOP) Int: J Redden, D Zorko (J Hopper) After dominating in the seconds over the past fortnight with scores of 127 and 134 midfielder Jack Redden has been recalled and will start on the interchange alongside another midfielder Dayne Zorko who also recaptured his form and scored 161 - ranked second in the ORFFA for Round 7 with the Vultures opting not to tag him. Jack Steele is very unlucky to be omitted however Devils captain Scott Pendlebury injured his ankle in the second half against Venus Bay, if Pendles is a late withdrawal midfield emergency Steele will play. After playing four consecutive games in the CMD forward line 20 year-old Tim English has been managed with Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti being recalled. There have been some classic Apple isle clashes between Cradle Mountain and Charlie’s Opening throughout ORFFA history however the build up to this game is quite different. When the 2018 ORFFA fixture was released most experts expected The Devils to be considerably higher than the Spelunkers when the two teams met in Round 8, however the 13th placed Devils are only one place higher on the ladder than Charlie’s Opening so both coaching groups are under pressure – the Devils for an inability to win and COS for an inability to tank effectively. Watching on intently is Foul Bay coach @ChiefRussell who has the MSD Round 1 selection of Charlie’s Opening and will be seeking some retribution if COS record an upset win. Whilst the Devils are confident of recording a victory, given their early season form they are not taking any chances and the club has called in extra security for the game, fearful of a riot involving Devils and Spelunker supporters as well as some Tassie based Chickens supporters as if COS defeat CMD many supporters from all three teams would be upset with that result. Given how ineffective the Devils attempts at rebuilding their forward line have been any riot damage might not be repaired until after the season is over, so there is sure to be plenty of vigour in the Devils pre-match address as they try to prevent this outcome occurring.
Off to smell the lilacs....................... DEF: Tarrant, Suckling, Johanissen, Andrews (Mcintosh) MID: Boak, Smith, Wines, Douglas (Brown) RUC: Lobb (OPP) FWD: Kennedy, Lambert, Cameron, Ainsworth (Motlop) I/C: Harmes, Gray
Understood mate, all 4 emergencies are not named at all this week and neither are NN or Powell, while Wells is an emergency. Edit - Wells actually was on a 7 man bench and has made the 22, so we may have 13 playing rather than 12 May as well keep Nic Nat where he is ready for Round 9.
Bringing a new definition to the term Roving BT, The Lefties (Bye Team) trudge to Locust Land. Still hoping for a miracle. In the meantime, here's half a dozen or so kids who might turn up... Def Duryea, Brayshaw, Perryman, Wagner Mid - Ross, Phillips, Berry, Weller Ruck - Ainsworth (yes he finally gets a game, and in his dream position no less) Fwd - Hayward, Simpkin, Langford 1, Langford 2 IC - Dumont, Daicos
Team to be kicked by some Cows. IN: Lewis, May, Smith OUT: Ballard, Vickers-Willis (inj), Ruck doughnut (sent to Heard Island) DEF: Rance, Savage, Astbury, someone who is fit - Steven May (DBJ emergency) MID: Coniglio, Goddard, Lewis, Hoskin-Elliott RUCK: Smith (Jack OOP) FWD: Brown, Edwards, Caddy, Gunston (Poholke) I/C: Newnes, Lyons (Ballard) At least I have 15 players, unless Zac Smith decides to visit some cafes or something. That said, cafes might be the least of our problems given Brad Hill's alleged escapades. Anxiously awaiting the mid-season draft to find some extra fit and/or playing defenders.
Battlers team for round 8: In: Acres, Robertson Out: Hipwood, Mutch DEF: Witherden, Ryan, Doedee, Cutler, (half a Mutch) MID: Treloar, Blakely, Hunter, L McDonald (Cerra) RUCK: Witts FWD: Taylor, Weller, T McDonald, Acres (McKay) IC: Clarke, Robertson (Crossley)
Same team as last week, to take on our Tasmanian mate, and fierce rivals. Rumour has it that the Blue Light disco the night before will be a huge hit, with many of the players from both teams relishing the opportunity to pick up a girl that might not be a relative. DEF: Jayden Short, Riley Bonner, Liam Duggan, Jack Bowes (Oscar McDonald) MID: Marcus Bontempelli, Zac Merrett, Rory Atkins, Mark Blicavs (Andrew Brayshaw) RUCK: Sam Petrevski-Seton *OOP FWD: Jack Higgins, Cale Hooker, Mitch McGovern, Bayley Fritsch (Oliver Florent) Bench: Darcy Tucker, Bailey Dale (Zachary Bailey) Williams, McPherson, Darcy, Francis, Balic, Hayes and Logue all either back on the training track or only a week or two away... Spelunkers are mobilising.... for a shot at 17th
Way to welcome the boy from Tassie there @Bandit ! In the spirit of inbreeding jokes is it true that in 2017 the Devils @dmandrews held a Mother’s Day inspired “bring your mother or sister along for free” round, but had a less than inspiring turnout because a large portion of the local support were very confused as their mother and sister were the same person ?
Ah! Just what the doctor ordered. Can smell the steam from here. If it's not too much trouble, I think a wee drop of Fromm from their Clayvin would go down nicely.
Good choice. White onion sauce? Red cabbage coleslaw on the side for those who like that sort of things. Any orders from ORFFANs feeling a bit peckish? Saw the product in the butchers today and was immediately transported back to early ORFFA days (or even earlier) when there were interesting conversation in the chat room. Ah, happy days.
The Misfits are down to 13 men, Keays being an AFL emerg only, but at least the rest playing for 100% of score, unlike last week.. DEFENDERS Rory Laird, Jimmy Webster, Jake Lloyd, Adam Tomlinson MIDFIELDERS Lachie Whitfield, Callan Ward, Tim Taranto, RUCKS Patrick Ryder FORWARDS Devon Smith, Caleb Daniel, Orazio Fantasia, Ben Keays INTERCHANGE Nick Haynes, Daniel Rich
I’m worried that by the MSD 14th might be possible. Then I have no doubt the arse will fall out of your season after that
Gariwerd team: In: Harry Taylor, Chad Wingard Out: Lynden Dunn, Allen Christensen D: Hurn, Tuohy, Houli, HTaylor (OShea) M: Polec, Steven, MCrouch, NJones (Masten) R: Sandilands F: Wallis, Jenkins, Young, Wingard (Christensen) I: Hickey, Bellchambers (Miller)
