I love it when I can copy a post from last year and re-post with minimal changes (is that spam?)

    -------------------------------
Hello people, it's that time again!

In two weeks time we will start the bye rounds, which means State of Origin gets a run. So with that in mind, let's open the discussion:

    Teams making up the sides:

The Vic/Tas teams consists of players from the following sides:

    Charlie's Opening Spelunkers
    Cradle Mountain Devils
    Darraweit Guim Dirigibles
    Gariwerd Cockatoos
    Lovely Banks Lilacs
    Mount Beauty Uglies
    Nunawading Nuffers
    Venus Bay Vultures
    Wineglass Bay Packers

    The Rest/Stench/Others are comprised of:

    Birdsville Battlers
    Foul Bay Cheaters Chickens
    Gundagai Grasshoppers
    Iron Knob Codpieces
    Larrikin Lagoon Lefties
    Marble Bar Misfits
    Wagga Wagga Wombats
    Waikikamoocow Incorrigibles
    Whitsunday Warriors

The coaches from each ORFFA team all contribute to their representative team selection based on their region. Each 15 player squad has to have at least one representative from each team in their sides. I will handle scoring, preview and review (and maybe weekly updates if I get a chance)

Scoring is same style as ORFFA, with one small twist... we take the single highest score from the player selected over the three bye rounds. Highest total team score takes away the choccies.

Over the next couple of days I will post some squads for pondering/sledging/arguing, final teams to be submitted Friday 8 June at 6pm AEST

Thanks Bandit - some definite thinking to be done on line-ups ... lots of DPP types putting their names forward.

OK, moved my sheet into google docs so the layout works better.

Here are the teams... I'll update the stats next week and the week after.

    OK, spreadsheets updated.

As a starting point... here are the best 15's statistically applying the one player from each club rule... ignoring injuries, byes, future opposition etc. This is available by looking at the squads tab.

Final teams to be in next week

After my absymal effort to select a successful team from the amazing talent available to the non-Vic/Tas squad last year, I have retired and willl sit on the sidelines with a beer or two and cheer on my successor.

From a Vic/Tas perspective my only concerns would be Michael Hurley and Sam Reid due to injury (sorry CMD and Wineglass Bay) - but I'm unsure if there would be logical or appropriate replacements.

If we did that Chris, hat would leave us without a representative from Cradle Mountain or Wineglass Bay.

Next best defender (on average) for Hurley is Jeremy Howe, from the Venus Bay Vultures. Hurley is however due back this week though... so we can make a call next week regarding his suitability. Given Essendon have Brisbane and West Coast during the bye... I don't mind the Hurley selection.

Next best forward for Same Reid is Buddy Franklin, again from Venus Bay.

Best ranked player for Cradle Mountain is Dyson Heppell, who was forced out of the mids to accommodate Charlie's Opening's only player in The Bont. Heppell (104 avg), and fellow Devils' team mate Zaharakis (104) were pushed aside so the Spudlunkers could have a representative.

Wineglass Bay's next best player is David Mundy. Buddy Franklin averages 98 and Mundy 95 so if you are going to swap Reid out, I would go with Mundy over Buddy. Interstingly enough Reid isn;t on the injury list for GWS, so maybe it is form related.

Irrespective of all of this dribble I have posted, I reckon we wait another week.

It is the Swan's Sam Reid averaging 104 from not many games, he should still be on the Sydney injury list.

Yeah, that was my worry. Agree with you on this - we can wait a week and see what happens.

Agree might look the better squad, but the beauty of this format is anything can happen over 2-3 weeks :)
