Hoppers provisional squad for Rd 11....... IN: J Martin OUT: J Billings DEF: Shaz - Weit - Hardwick - Coff* (Billings OOP) MID: Cripps - ECurnow - Neale - Adams (Ah Chee) RCK: Grundy FWD: CCurnow - Fisher - Cameron - Martin (Rayner*) I/C: McClug - Stringer (Cuningham)
Cradle Mountain Devils Round 11 2018 team vs Wagga Wagga Wombats In: M Hurley, P Seedsman Out: H Himmelberg (omitted) No second out required as had 14 player in last game Def: M Hurley, P Seedsman, N Vlastuin, J Lever (H Himmelberg) Mid: S Pendlebury, D Heppell, D Zaharakis, D Zorko (J Steele) Ruck: T Nankervis Fwd: T Lynch, J Gresham, T Membrey, A McDonald-Tipungwuti (S Grigg) Int: J Redden, J Hopper (Z Jones) Cradle Mountain’s Round 11 road trip to play the Wagga Wagga Wombats is a massive game for both clubs who have each split their season to date with a record of five wins and five losses to be in 11th and 12th position respectively, one game behind five teams who fill positions six through to 10 on the ORFFA ladder. The Round 11 victor will have momentum going into the mid-season break and will be well place to make a late-season charge to secure a finals berth whilst the loser is going to be up against it to make up considerable ground in the last six weeks and will need a lot to go their way to make the finals. With 11 Devils players including all six midfield eligible players receiving at least one b & f vote for their performance in the comprehensive victory Round 10 over Iron Knob it was a straight forward match committee meeting this week in the lead up to the club’s Round 11 clash with the Wagga Wagga Wombats. The Devils two best defenders – Michael Hurley and Paul Seedsman returning from hamstring and adductor injuries respectively to further strengthen the CMD line-up and as the Devils received a donut due to Seedsman being a late out only one player has been omitted - Harrison Himmelberg who is likely to be shifted to the forward line in 2019.
Spudlunkers team to take on the Lefties. I should tank it properly and name McGovern etc, but in the spirit of the game fielding a full lineup... hopefully Jelly Guy can do the same, and it can be a battle of who is shittest! Def: Jayden Short, Liam Duggan, Riley Bonner, Jack Bowes (Oscar McDonald) Mid: Marcus Bontempelli, Zac Merrett, Rory Atkins, Mark Blicavs (Zachary Bailey) Ruck: John Ceglar Fwd: Cale Hooker, Bayley Fritsch, Jack Higgins, Darcy Tucker (Oliver Florent) Bench: Sam Petrevski-Seton, Andrew Brayshaw (Jack Lonie)
Battlers team for round 11: Better than I thought in the end. I missed that Witts would be back as I'd only skimmed the Ins and Outs, not the whole teams (silly me), so that was a relief. We had seven scores under 50 last week, though, so I'm keen to avoid a repeat of that! Adam Cerra will make his Battlers debut this week. In: Cerra, Turner, Weller, Witts Out: Clarke, Hipwood, McKay, Sheed DEF: Witherden, Ryan, Doedee, Cutler MID: Treloar, Blakely, Hunter, Cerra RUCK: Witts FWD: Taylor, T McDonald, Weller, Turner (Hipwood) IC: L McDonald, Robertson
Packer team DEFENDER Conor McKenna, Nathan Wilson, Andrew McGrath, Marley Williams MIDFIELDER David Mundy, Sam Kerridge, Jaidyn Stephenson, OOT Cameron McCarthy (Anthony Miles) RUCK Majak DAW FORWARD Tom Lynch, Alex Neal-Bullen, George Hewett, Brandon MATERA (Jack Silvanr) INTERCHANGE Matthew Buntine, Sam Taylor
Blimps Round 11 team: Out: half of Jack, half of Poholke, Newnes In: Byrne-Jones, May, Buzza DEF: Rance, Savage, Astbury, Byrne-Jones MID: Coniglio, Goddard, Walters, Hoskin-Elliott (Jack) RUCK: Buzza FWD: Caddy, Edwards, Brown, Gunston (Ballard) I/C: Lewis, May (Newnes) The prodigal ruckman makes his 2018 debut, with hopes we can fit his and Brown's hair comfortably in the one forwardline. Hoping that Wylie plays well and cements his status as a cult figure at The Paddock. Byrne-Jones comes in after continued good form throughout 2018, while May returns from Shanghai bye. Lyons has unexpectedly gotten lost on his way back from Shanghai and could not be included. Newnes recovers from another head knock. Right now I'd say the guys in the first 15 in this week's team look safer from the impending mid season delistment processes than those outside looking in. But, well, that could change.
Yeah, nah. Lefties manage to scrape together a squad of 13 and a couple of oop hail marys. Def - The better Brayshaw, Duryea, Perryman, McKenzie Mid - Ross, Phillips, Berry, Weller Ruck - Ainsworth Fwd - K Langford, Simpkin, Hayward, Paton I/C - Dumont, Daicos
We welcome the Grasshoppers to the islands. DEF: Tarrant, Suckling, Johannisen, Andrews (Mcintosh) MID: Smith, Douglas, Harmes, Fogarty (Motlop) RUC: Simpson (Lobb OPP) FWD: Kennedy, Lambert, Patton, Gray (Cameron) I/C: Boak, Wines
DEFENDERS Rory Laird, Jimmy Webster, Jake Lloyd, Nick Haynes MIDFIELDERS Josh Kelly, Callan Ward, Lachie Whitfield, Stefan Giro RUCKS Patrick Ryder FORWARDS Devon Smith, Tim Taranto, Caleb Daniel, Orazio Fantasia - Ben Keays INTERCHANGE Adam Tomlinson, Daniel Rich Giro on debut
Nuffers gain 3 from the bye and have Wells and Lester in and Varcoe out, somehow managing 15 plus Sexton and 2 AFL emergencies amongst our 4 “emergencies”. It will be a tough task against the Knob @jimbowan but we will be looking to give a good account of ourselves before a planned midseason playing list makeover.
The Vultures were gutted to hear Jeremy Howe had pulled up with bone bruising before our big clash with Wakik! Andy Otten is an emergency for the Crows, yet finds himself in the forward line in the hope he gets a call up, otherwise a Will Brodie debut saves us from a donut, and he'll play OOP as a forward. IN: Houston, Watts, (Otten) Brodie (OOP) OUT: Howe, Carlisle (OOP), McInerney (OOP) All the best to graeme and Wakik! Hopefully its a high scoring clash! Here at Venus Bay we are very keen for the mid season break, with an injury list of Docherty, Greene, Deledio, Howe, Menzel and Fiorini, and other plays simply out of favour, changes must be made to improve playing depth.
Thanks for the wishes Fitzy. Parker and Buddy scored well for you in ORFFA (and me in ORFFL). It was difficult knowing whether to cheer or boo. Sub-50 scores from Dan Hann and Newy have probably sealed the outcome already - it is unlikely to be a high scoring week for your visitors. Like you I am looking forward to the MSD. I understand your frustation with having Menzel unavailable. If he were going to play 22+ games a year he would still be a Cow. Injuries to B Crouch and Prestia have affected the way we set up. Had high hopes for C Byrne who has now played less than 5 games in 3 years on the list. Then the form of Sauce, Burton, Hannebery, Papley and Dunkley has baffled the coach. Still, if we are going to beat VBV this year I would prefer it was in the grannie. Finally, as Jelly Guy, Jimbo and CR would attest, as defending champions it is hard to be rational about the prospects of guys who just won you the cup. One guy went overboard with change (any guesses?) and I was probably too conservative. It is a very fine line to walk (but at least I have walked it).
Late team posting for Gariwerd for our trip to Wineglass Bay: And we've swung the changes, with 6 new players this week! In: Cam O'Shea, Jared Polec, Took Miller, Chad Wingard, Aaron Young, Tom Rockliff. Out: Bachar Houli, Nathan Jones, Hugh Greenwood, Aaron Sandilands. D: Hurn, Tuohy, Dunn, O'Shea (Griffen - oop) M: Steven, Polec, MCrouch, Miller (NJones) R: Hickey F: Christensen, Jenkins, Wingard, Young (JaGarlett) I: Bellchambers, Rockliff (HGreenwood)
Jack Newnes may be playing himself back into a spot on the Darraweit list after his effort in the twos last night. Hopes that Steven May's injury isn't too serious lest we have to hunt for replacement defenders in the MSD.
Congrats Fitzy, an easy win for the Vultures. I have a feeling we may meet again later this season; perhaps with a different result.
Please don't think me ungrateful @snoz, but I'm ambling along quite happily this year and charity from afar as Manhattan is furthest from my mind. I realize your boys may have overdone things a little pre-game at the Tiki Bar and of course they didn't have a lot of time to adjust to the climate, but sheesh, the bookies went into a tailspin. Next time, forget all the good buddies stuff and turn up with a side that at least looks like it can compete. Please.
Brutal TiB !! I can handle an oop player, and Cripps having his one bad week - but losing two players before quarter time? Ugh !!! Take me when you can get em mate !! Glass half full - going from 14th to 12th in the MSD
Almost forgot - a big shout out to Lenny and his long term mate Paul Ahern. What a story of persistance and fortitude by both. Well done for sticking fat Lenny.
